   Hotel OK but slightly dated, somewhat hyped up on website, no telephones nor tea making facilities in rooms. Food very poor, was looking forward to eating there after reading website, reality somewhat different, limited menu choice, food lacking flavour, possibly worst breakfast I have had in a hotel, I had a table booked for both nights of my stay, second night I ate elsewhere.

   One of the best steaks I have ever had. Also, the starter was amazing. Thank you.

   We made a reservation online half an hour before arriving, we got there exactly on time and were told that they could not honour service at that time. There was a very big party in and I saw that the reservation book had big crossings out for a pre-booked party across the time I had booked just half an hour earlier. They offered a later slot, but with such a big party just having settled down I declined as I supposed there would be a long delay in the food arriving. The restaurant management need to ensure proper coordination of online bookings with reality in the dining room.

   My husband's chicken liver pate seemed shop bought and when he asked for it was slid onto the table in foil packaging straight from fridge and not presented on dish. Our steaks were good, as was wine and apple crumble. Red wine seemed to be served in white wine glasses.

   I had a fabulous birthday meal at the restaurant. The vegetarian haggis meal was absolutely amazing I've never tasted anything like it I highly recommend. Also was treated to a glass of prosecco for my birthday. Thank you.

   Food and service is always lovely but I’m conscious that with things like the Kiev burger it would be good to offer a smaller portion as well or an option with salad.

   Overall disappointing menu & felt expensive for range and standard on offer. Definitely not the quality it used to be.

    Mother’s Day set menu, excellent range and portion sizes healthy. Value for money in a lovely setting. Staff friendly and attentive.
