The Boot Inn - Sutton Coldfield
My booking was not found when I got to The Boot.
The member of staff we particularly spoke to was extremely rude.
The atmosphere was poor.
The service was slow.
Food was nice, playground was great. They weren’t honouring bookings though so don’t bother booking. We managed to get a table but it wasn’t a 6 seater like we had booked so we split.
The boot Inn cancelled all bookings made via a facebook post and refused to honor pre bookings that had already been made.
First out since restrictions eased, felt very safe. Food and staff good. Garden area was extremely pleasant and clearly everyone has worked hard.
The table was cancelled by the venue, they didn’t have the decency to let me know. It was pure luck that I saw it on Facebook whilst looking for their telephone number.
I will never go there in future. This has also happened to my friends on several occasions.
Nice place and staff! No nonsense approach! Great Price quality
Got told that they had canceled our booking then got sent away as the place was ‘filled up’
The service was good
I like the pay as you go system.
There was a row with a customer being incredibly rude for no reason and the staff handed it really well and apologised.
The foot was nice BUT anything my partner would of picked and was excited for on the grill and light bites section was unavailable.
My main complaint is the play area the whole reason we went was due to the photo of the play area online looking amazing
It’s now different and my son can’t use it at all so we won’t be going again.
Which is a shame as if it was as advertised we would certainly go here on a regular basis as we have appointments at good hope hospital.
Overall a let down and a shame really.
There was a slight Issue with other customers arguing with the staff but they handled it very well and it was dealt with quickly
Jody and her team are amazing and made us very welcome in a safe environment
I arrived at the Boot inn and was seated with a menu of 2 options , a beef/turkey dinner or a baquette option ! There was 2 adults and 4 children i had booked for and had the table booked for many week , i raised my concern with the manager regarding not stating on the website or when booking the menu would only be a dinner option as unfortuntly if this was the cased i wouldnt have booked. The manager expressed the change was only made the day before. Therefore we did not eat and returned home. I was extremely upset by this as it was my partners birthday and this was our 1st pub outing since Lockdown. For futer reference if any changes are made please make customers aware before they arrive
Phoned up about 10 minutes before my booking as I was running late and was informed I had received an email saying my booking was cancelled. The only email I got was the day before reminding me about my booking. On asking the staff is there anything he could do he said. No we are booked and that was the end of it.
Service was atrocious, we were so looking forward to a great afternoon in the local, 3 pints in two hours. Some work to be done to improve this service level. Not nice to see the poor staff delivering drinks to the tables under so much pressure.
Was very busy and there was a short wait on drinks but the staff explained this well and were helpful and friendly.
Had our order taken quickly but waited over an hour and 15 mins for our drinks. Asked multiple times why it was taking so long to get 4 pints but got no actual response. Ended up leaving the pub after this time having received no food or drink.
Hugely understaffed for the first weekend of pubs reopening. We waited 45 mins for our first round of drinks and the incorrect drinks came. We ordered a second round and they did not come within 45 minutes and us chasing them up. The staff also lied about the fact we were next in line. The table next to us ordered 10 minutes after us and received their drinks well before we were told they were “just coming”. They did not arrive and we left having only had one drink in two hours. Really disappointing considering we had booked. The few staff on shift worked really hard and this was clearly a logistical oversight by manangement.
First saturday since lock down, suns out! Pre booked a table which was great. Though service was bad, clearly short staffed! Overbooked as tables moved into play area. Done good job of garden shame service let them down.
We visited the establishment on Friday 16/04/21 this is our local pub and we have been many times.
However we booked months in advance and was seated in a corner area which was nice but completely out of the way of everyone including the staff.
who promptly sat us there then took an hour to take our drinks order.
Then another 30 mins to serve it mean while we could see tables who had just sat down getting served around us. we were not the only table to have seen this. we complained to staff 6 times and on 7th told the staff we would be leaving, then all of a sudden the staff jumped into order and took our money so we could not leave. (held to Ransom it felt like)
However in the end we did get our food and drink and we had a good evening just a shame the 1hr beginning was such a let down.
Absolutely awful....kept losing my drinks orders and then refusing to take more drink orders as they were too busy and told would have to wait meaning over 2 hours for a drink. They say they were short staffed but there were 5/6 staff members they were all just not managed well. I also ordered drinks paid for them got half or the order and then got made ahour later to prove I'd paid for the extra drinks and told to wait a hour again for the other half of my order. There's no excuse for this level of bad management.
Me and my partner went for a meal, got our drinks ordered quickly then was ignored for 40mins until we decided to leave. Staff was more interested in people who was ordering drinks than food. Was really angered as drove out the way to come here.
great to be open, but insufficient staff working, or the system needs improving.
At first we were to be seated in the play area which is not what we wanted but we were moved as soon as another table was available. Service was very slow for both drinks and food but I appreciate that all of the staff were working under difficult circumstances with it being the first week of opening again and hopefully this will improve.
Our food didn't all arrive together and to be honest could have been hotter.
Overall it was ok for our first night out after lockdown.
Not enough staff working. Had to wait for absolutely ages to get served
Great service and ambiance would highly recommend and staff were fantastic
A nice visit to a lovely beer garden, few things that can be over looked considering the pub had just reopened. Would definitely come again.
Really lovely decor outside. Great service, only niggly thing was lack of food choice as the whole grill menu was off sale but overall we had a lovely night.
Would be good if the heaters has been on a bit earlier.
Very nice experience. Would recommend for families.
Brilliant time at the Boot after not being able to eat out fir so long. Lovely weather helped but overall feel of the garden was beautiful.
ordered a drink at 8, never got it so waited two hours for nothing
The worst experience I have ever had in 18 years of going to a pub.
Service was attrocious, was made to sit under overhanging bushes with leaves falling down on to our table and into our drinks. Drinks which were served in plastic cups, not what you expect when going to a pub, would be ok for a, sporting event.
Ridiculously unstaffed, maybe the landlord/bar manager didn't know how busy they would be, which is strange given it was bookings only! Maybe he just didn't care.
Thank you for a brilliant day staff where amazing and it was a brilliant atmosphere would recommend the
Worst Sunday roast I’ve ever eaten! The service is dreadful don’t think they have a very good manager to set example! It was freezing cold as all doors were open on a chilly day! Blowing a breeze all through the pub. When the food came it was cold, dry gravy was thick and never tasted mash like it? The staff clearly need customer service training. Then when we ordered bread and butter to go with fish we get rolls that you eat with soup? Not sure what’s happened as a year ago this was a lovely pub with beautiful food? We sat wondering if the head chef has left? Won’t be returning what a total waste of money
Disappointed with the overall quality of the food and the fact that certain starters were not available. We asked for a break between courses but this didn’t happen as the chef apparently had cooked our main course and it had to be delivered.
We had to wait 20 minutes at the bar to be served a drink as there was only two staff in and when I asked about food they said the chef was only on to 6 and this was 5.45 so I don’t get to have any food also no hand sanitizer when you walked into the pub it was a bit poor really.
Lovely family friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious 😋
Good pub food. Clean and friendly ambience. Staff were helpful and polite.
Having read menu on line chose what I wanted arrived at pub to find a reduced menu, which would have been fine except anything vegetarian was not available. Had fish and chips which was only option when it arrived batter was soft fish was dry. So will not be returning, shame as it is our local pub. Very disappointing. Also names and telephone numbers were taken in a book and left at reception open to the public this is breach of personal data.
I’d like it more if Staff wore face masks or face shields. Food was nice tho.
There was a long wait for food, even though we had booked and when it arrived 2 hours after our table booking it was ok. Social distancing Gould be much improved as we still had to go to the bar to order food.
