The Boon Fly Cafe
Named for a Carneros pioneer named Boon Fly, who planted orchards and vineyards in the area in the mid-1800s, our café is a homage to local flavor.
Boon Fly, descended from settlers of the early New England Colonies, was part of the great tradition of wagon trains that brought many of the early families west. He was drawn to the farmlands north of the city and settled outside of Napa on a property that would become known as the Fly District.
I ordered the baby back ribs- I expected fall off the bone-it was not at all. The couple next to me said it was new on the list and what I thought. I said I would not get them again if I came back. Just was not expecting that at all. I love good baby backs and these just did not do that for me. Flavor was good on them though. 09/18/19
Great food an ambiance. S as very room for the doughnuts.
Service was great. Food not so much. Flatbread okay. Blackened cod was both tough and under seasoned. The succotash was so watery and bland. Just a really bad dish and nothing like what I expected. Should have sent back. My son’s ribs were okay. Nothing special. Jalapeño Mac n cheese had absolutely no spice and was runny vs cheesy. Revered donuts were good, but really just a churro in donut form.
Waiter was especially welcoming and helpful to our menu and food preparations. The recipes were modifications of comfort favorites such as gumbo, ribs, Mac/cheese. We loved them all. Can’t wait to go back for breakfast.
Love coming here. Great vibe. Great food.
Excellent wagyu burger! Great service and pleasant atmosphere!
Great food in relaxing fun atmosphere. Or ding the fried chicken is a most!
Birthday celebration after golf date. They were out of candles but served a complimentary desert.
Great waiter and friendly, helpful staff. Food was all delicious. Fried broccolini appetizer was especially memorable. Only drawback was our table for 2 was very tight with others around us. I could hear each persons conversation on either side.
We absolutely love this restsurant! And Danielle is sooo nice and attentive. Will definitely be eating there nxt time in Napa,
Biscuits delicious, flatbread excellent and waitress most accommodating and knowledgeable
Nice place to spend some times with friends or family. Good cocktails
Casual place with very good food. We sat at bar and the bartender gave great service while being kept busy with other drink orders.
Casual restaurant with good service, delicious fried chicken and flatbreads.
We made reservations for dinner on a Saturday night without any problems. We had excellent service and a very pleasant waiter. We ordered the truffle fries, hush puppies, fried broccolini, fried chicken, gumbo, shrimp and grits and ribs. Our favorites were the fried broccolini, truffle fries and shrimp and grits. They do a very nice breading on the broccolini and we loved the sauce it came with. We had the donuts for dessert and they were amazing. It was someone's birthday in our party and they brought a bucket of them with a candle on the house for her. All in all a very enjoyable dinner with excellent service.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner - but our friends sent back the leek soup and the Caesar salad (due to onions in the salad), they thought the ribs were dry. I had shrimp and grits and enjoyed! Hard to bring friends if all the dishes aren’t up to par.
It was a fun experience for my wife birthday. The waitress was friendly and very attentive to my wife allergy concern.
Fantastic, fresh, tasty food. The crab cakes were particularly amazing.
This is a nice cafe located in Napa. I’ve been here in the past and the food was really good. This trip I had the pork chop and it was over cooked and really dry. This is the first time that I’ve had the food and it was mediocre. Maybe I just came on a bad day. I would try them out again maybe for breakfast this time instead of dinner. The doughnuts and fried chicken I had the first time I went were delicious from what I remember.
Great food very very friendly people
Chicken fried broccolini is amazing as an appetizer, no matter how much is put on the plate it isn't enough! I almost didn't want to share!! Delish!! Food so amazing, service was great!
Great food and great service. Zero complaints. The menu may not be extensive but there is a good variety and something for just about anyone. The desserts are great too.
We had a very nice time. Liked the food and character of the restaurant.
Our party of six old friends thoroughly enjoyed Boon Fly. It is smaller than I was expecting from the photos I had seen which was very nice. Our server was excellent and all of the food and beverages were very good. Excellent location also between Napa and Sonoma.
We celebrated aa birthday with family. As always the food was superb: smoked salmon flatbread light and crunchy, spinach salad and fried chicken. Dessert was divine; donuts with chocolate sauce. This is our go to spot!
I guess I was expecting more for a napa restaurant but came across as maybe a soso local eatery and a bit pricey
My fried chicken was burnt and the greens weren’t edible.
No complaints. Great food, cocktails, and service.
Great food, very casual place. The food was well seasoned and tasty. Dessert was perfect touch with excellent presentation.
While the fried chicken is good (and huge!), the collards that accompany the dish are phenomenal. The French fries & onion rings are a guilty pleasure. Lots to love here.
The Boon Fly is charming, the food is delicious (highly recommend the fried chicken and Cobb salad!) and our server was wonderful! We’ll be back for sure!
Amazing place to eat. The staff was great! Drinks were amazing! Food was perfect great Napa experience!
We decided to split a pizza among our group for an appetizer. The fried chicken is amazing. Our waiter was pleasant and helpful
We are Napa locals, and we find that Boon Fly is a great place for a quiet weeknight dinner. The fried chicken and hamburger are our go to items. The cocktails are good, service is excellent, and it is quiet enough to “catch up” with friends. Weekend brunch is jam packed, but for weeknight dinners Boon Fly is a hidden gem.
Excellent food and service is wonderful. Special shout out to Brenna, the assistant mgr, for making us feel valued and at home. We come to the Boon Fly every time we visit Napa and have never been disappointed.
My aunt and I stopped by for a meal before heading up to the Napa Jazz Festival. I’ve eaten here several times before, her first time. She really enjoyed her meal and said she’s adding it to her restaurant list for future girls night out dates.
Delicious - the chicken dinner was fantastic and worth the trip
I was surprised that even in Napa you can charge $18 for a hamburger, $26 for “blackened” rock cod that was certainly not blackened and the two thin filets very small for $29! The real topper was $29 for gumbo that anywhere outside Napa would be $10 at best!
So, as a lifetime local, I was certainly disappointed that such a small “cafe” has such an inflated view of itself. Needless to say, I will not be darkening your door again and will caution my family and friends to review your menu and prices before making a reservation.
Best Fried chicken dinner we have had. Also went to have brunch the next day. Wonderful food.
Great comfort food! The chicken fried broccoli was amazing!
