The Boiler House and Texas Grill & Wine Garden Ratings and Reviews
I had a reservation, and they sat us about 3 feet away from the restroom, which smelled terrible. We asked to be moved to a different table, which they accomodated, but the waiter couldn't have been less attentive. My $50 steak was almost too salty to eat. I would not eat here again.
We went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. We had a reservation, so we didn’t have to wait too long for our table. Once we were seated, it took around 15 minutes for us to be acknowledged, but once we were service was great. There wasn’t an empty table in the place so we weren’t too frustrated with having to wait, especially since service was great once our drink orders were taken. The food was excellent! The steaks were tender and the Brussel sprouts and whipped potatoes were amazing!
Sebastian was off the charts!!!!! I have been in the hospitality arena for over 25 years - well done Sebastian! Brought peeps in from Colorado Springs for the weekend.... She is a food blogger - LOVED THE PLACE and of course again Sebastian. We have been away from SATX for about 2 years, glad we came back to BH
Very enjoyable evening - the venue is classic. Well-designed adaptation of an old industrial steam facility. Very diverse and creative menu - we ordered several items from each category. Everything was well prepared and well presented. Cocktails were perfect. Excellent service - Sebastian was very knowledgeable and engaging. Recommend highly.
Our server was not great. I’ve worked in the service industry before & I’m very understanding. I only tipped 15% because of this but she didn’t deserve that. We weren’t greeted in time & when we were, it wasn’t a proper greeting. She seemed very distracted & like she didn’t care for us. She didn’t come do refills in time, forgot our waters for a while, and gave us an excuse about her day. Again, I was a server for years which is why I tip no matter what, but I’ve also been a manager and that’s not the way to represent a nicer restaurant. Overall, food was great! Will come back again!
We were there as a friends gathering of 4. When the entrees came there were just 3. Kitchen completely forgot one. But, I must say, everyone was extremely apologetic and accommodating. This included an extra appetizer to tide over the wait time, free glasses of wine and free desserts. Overall we had a great evening and the food and service were great besides the 1 significant glitch. We will definitely return.
I dined at the Boiler House with a group of 5 and a baby and we had a wonderful time! The waiter was friendly and attentive, ready to give honest cocktail and food recommendations and happy to bring water and milk to the table for the baby. The food was inventive, rich and decadent and the drinks were stellar. I love dining out in San Antonio because there are so many options but the Boiler House is one I find myself visiting time and again!
Upon hearing Chef Jeff was leaving to open another restaurant. We wanted to get his amazing Green Chili Pork Brunch item. It's almost the perfect dish ever created. I hope the new Chef keeps that and Hangover Hash on the menu. It's so worth the 30 minute drive a few times a month.
I was disappointed in the steak. For the price, it was cooked rare, but the meat itself was tough. It was like they used a poor cut and the fat was hard/chewy. It just seemed expensive and the food wasn't any better than we could have gotten at a chain steak house. The drinks were excellent! Our waitress wasn't real enthusiastic though. She was polite enough, but just didn't give us the "warm fuzzies" I would have expected at paying those prices. I know this is a picky review, but I expected more out of this place. I heard their brunch is better than the dinner though!
