Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden is a true Texas original. Situated in the historic Pearl Brewery complex on the San Antonio River Walk, this wine-centric restaurant occupies the former “boiler house” which powered the adjacent brewery. The menu focuses on grilled items from local farms and markets, with a focus on “Texas ranch-style” cuisine. These delicacies are paired with extraordinary wines from around the world (all available by the glass, bottle and “to-go”), full bar, live music and a casual yet energetic atmosphere. The unique list of wines boasts some of the lowest prices in the area.

The restaurant incorporates various private dining areas suitable for private or corporate functions and an expansive outdoor patio area where guests can enjoy dining alfresco. Catering is also available at the restaurant or at a location of your choice.

This is an interesting place with good ambience. The main room is dominated by a very cool, very long bar. The menu is fairly good, as is the food. On the pricey side for what you get

We waited over an hour for our food (spending average $50 per entree) and the restaurant wasn't even full. You'd think the manager would come by and apologize or at least check in, but no. I had to flag someone down because my steak was ice cold. Won't be back!

This is priced as an upscale restaurant, but the food doesn't meet that level. We had three different entrees -- all average or less in quality than other comparably priced restaurants. The service was excellent, however, but the menu can use a going over and the dishes re-priced more realistically.

Service and food were stellar. The ribeye was superb and cooked the way medium rare should be, red center pink around edges with a great sear. The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing; highly recommend this side!

Went for New Year's eve dinner and had the Prix FIx dinner. Food was interesting but came out MAYBE warm at best. Service was slow, it took 2 1/2 hours to get a 5 course dinner. Other people around us got served out of order. Coffee with dessert was the bottom of the pot (thick). Not worth the $93.00 for each meal. On a regular day and the regular menu it could be totally different but would not want to try it again.

Service was not good. Waited for 30min to get starting drinks as waiter vanished. Table set incorrectly, and menu recited incorrectly. Meal was 5 course and was ok but not amazing which it should be for $100 per person. Will not go back again.

The food was good, but the service was slow. The restaurant was not full Christmas Eve, but it took 50 minutes before we were served any food and probably 10 minutes to get a drink.

Food: The food was good. Not great, not bad just good. No complaints but no rave reviews. Enjoyed the BH Burger and my GF enjoyed her salmon. We both enjoyed our cocktails and the hummus spread appetizer

Service: Service was timely and courteous

Ambiance: First level inside is pretty loud when there is a full dining room and music going so hard to have close conversation without feeling like you might be yelling.

Value: I felt like the food and drink menu was a little bit high. I enjoyed my visit but didnt necessarily feel like I got full value out of the final dinner tab

Overall: I would say go once yourself and see what you think. But know that you are walking more of a upbeat steakhouse type atmosphere and not a cozy, date night restaurant like it looks from the outside. Be prepared for a big check.

First time at Boiler House for Sunday Brunch/Lunch and it was good! Brunch menu was impressive, everything we ordered was excellent. You may want to make a reservation, as there was a slight wait for walk-ins who were looking for a table inside.

I got a steak, and my wife got the scallops. Both were very good and prepared exactly as requested. The only negative I'd give to the entire evening was the drinks were a tad slow (cocktails) and wait staff vanished some. We were there visiting some old friends, so we stayed for about 2 hours. So I can get being ignored some because of the sheer time we were there. But we ordered wine/cocktails the entire time, so I felt like we were still worth the attention. But overall a great place, and I'd certainly go back.

Went out with wife and friends for dinner. I’m average guy, middle class. Prices were out of sight, very trendy area so I guess that’s why. I thought the waitress was kind of rude. Again I felt I was out of place there, but it had been recommended so we tried it. So the rude part, waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu but didn’t smile, didn’t engage. I asked if the steak came with sides, I was told “a la carte”. It was a 60 dollar steak. With no sides. I looked at her like “you’re crazy” and she states, “That means no.” Oh man, not a good start. Yeah I know what that means. Oh well. Food wasn’t bad but that was my first, and last $60 dollar steak. I didn’t think the meal was worth the price. Maybe you’ll get a better server, or she just had a bad night. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area so I don’t think we will be back.

Service wasn't too great in the beginning. Took 15 minutes before we got our drinks. The appetizer came out with our main meal. I think to make up for it, the server gave us a free dessert. All the food was delicious!

Outstanding service is what stood out for me. Went for couple's dinner. I did book a table ahead although the restaurant was not full on a rainy Sunday night. Friendly service from the moment we walked in. Loved the modernized warehouse space. Considering the hard surfaces the place felt warm and not too loud or hollow.

Happy with the menu selections, sides and extensive adult beverage list. Food is flavourful and RICH. Go hungry!! We both had the bison burger along with brussels spouts and grits.

Was disappointed that our mains came out cool. Staff could not have done more. Our concern was immediately addressed in a manner that went well beyond my experience in most establishments. Turned the evening from a disappointment to something I am very pleased to complement the team on. Happy to recommend.

Went here on a recommendation....very disappointed!

Positives:
1. Arrived about 45 minutes early and we were seated right away
2. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and 2 waitstaff upon entry to the restaurant
3. Extensive Beer list including local craft beer
4. Waiter was friendly and responsive to our questions regarding recommendations

Negatives:
1. Ordered the shrimp and bacon appetizer. Shrimp severely under cooked (mushy and wet inside) and bacon was all fat. Waiter very apologetic and removed it from the bill. However, not once did a manager approach the table with an apology or to acquire about the rest of our meal. When we asked for the bill, the waiter sheepishly asked if his manager had been there and when told we had not seen anyone he mumbled 'I'm not surprised!'
2. Both meals, Duck and Flank steak were adequately portioned but came out lukewarm at best.....

Not recommending this establishment to anyone!

Wish they had more vegan or even organic options. It would be nice to enjoy a menu that is not made in bulk.

We had a 715pm reservation and arrived at 655pm. We were told our table wasn’t ready and that the party at our table we’re hanging out and talking. They asked if we could wait at the bar so we followed their suggestion. Our table wasn’t available until 740pm. The whole point of making a reservation is to secure a table for a specific time and it’s the restaurants responsibility to make sure that your requested table is ready when you arrive. Now, at other places we have made reservations and if our table wasn’t ready when we arrived then the manager would offer a free glass of wine or an appetizer etc..(FYI...my wife and I weren’t looking for a free meal or free stuff but it’s the principal) .The Boiler House failed here and did nothing to recognize the fact that we sat around at the bar waiting for our table. The guy sitting next to us was also waiting for his “reserved” table. The food was great but whoever is managing this eatery needs to understand that if this keeps happening to people then they will simply not return and go to a different place where they’re taken care of no matter what.

We were in San Antonio foe a conference and tonight was our last night. We wanted a fun new dining experience and really enjoyed the Pearl Brewery area earlier this week. I had heard great recommendations about the Boiler House and the food and service met all.

We each had the filet and it was tender like butter. Everything was delicious. My only minor comment is that we do not eat bacon/pork and many of the side dishes had this baked in. Also it would be great to have a cappucino machine. No complaints though as everything we ate was great. Our waitress Paige was fabulous and made excellent recommendations.

As Boston fans it was great to be able to watch game 1 of the World Series during dinner.
