Excellent food! Very fun lunch during a trip to see Vassar.
Overall a good experience, was a little disappointed with the service, the food was quality and interesting but room for improvement.
Everything about this lunch date was wonderful. The campus is classic yet has the vibrant energy of the students. The restaurant is simple, with a bit of humor in its decor. Service was wonderful - what impressed me most was the attention to detail. From service, through the presentation of the food. I had the best experience ever!
Enjoyable dining experience with good friends. Great ambience and exceptional food. We weren't rushed and the staff was top draw answering our questions with a smile. Well worth the trip from LI.
This was a very pleasant surprise. Food was one of the 10 best meals. Knowing this is a school with training staff waiter was a little nervous with orders but after we fix the cocktail drink issue service smoothed out. An experience well worth the drive. Looking forward to return soon.
CIA thank you
Everything was really quite good. I hesitated how to rate service, as the students were serious and attentive, if not quite coordinated on some things.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we were not impressed. The service was atrocious, for example, the waiter did not know how the one fish for the evening was prepared, did not know the types/names of the three cheeses in the cheese plate, did not know how to open the bottle of wine, could not remember to put the chilled wine in the wine cooler sitting by the table, did not know how to use the French coffee press, etc. The waiter never introduced himself or asked how was our meal. The food was not terribly good either, with a tough duck breast without a crispy skin. The so called "pot au feu" was perhaps an Asian interpretation, with a thin broth poured table-side. Overall we thought the food was very overpriced for what it was and clearly not enhanced by the service. On the plus side, the room was elegant and interesting to see into the kitchen, and the subdued atmosphere allowed everyone to converse quietly. For a Friday evening, there were a surprising number of empty tables--maybe others are realizing that the restaurant is overrated? We had great expectations and were looking forward to a celebratory meal, but were greatly disappointed and immediately decided to cancel our next evening reservations at the ICA's American Bounty restaurant.
Once again, we enjoyed the dining at Bocuse as the menu has so many interesting and inventive options to create a wonderful experience for each of us. The wine list is extensive with many great options at reasonable price points to satisfy every budget. We drive about 1.5 hours from Connecticut so we do lunch rather than dinner and are pleased with the menu for lunch. It is wonderful to meet the young students learning their professions. They are energetic, sincere, skilled and warm which provides another aspect of enjoyment for us.
The food, the service, the ambiance and the prices were excellent as expected.
Bocuse did not disappoint. The food was good, but the service was better. We were waited on by Chi, a student at the CIA. He was warm, personable, and was able to make accommodations for us. My only "complaint" is regarding desserts: Most had nuts so if someone had an allergy, there was not much selection there. Again, minor in the scheme of things. Strongly recommend!
Food is always excellent! And really great service!
Service and food very uneven. We expected more from this famous restaurant.
Food & presentation not as good as I expected but the service is excellent. Drove all the way from manhattan to there not worth it.
The food was very good to even excellent at times. The servers were students and hence not very experienced. That said, to me, that was part of the charm. They were very nice and when they didn't have an answer to a question about the menu, they were very quick to talk to the kitchen and get back to us with an answer. The cost was extremely reasonable given the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
excellent quality and preparation of food. menu offered various options and makes it difficult to choose just one. our party of 4 each chose a different appetizer, entrée and dessert to share. décor and ambiance was very modern and inspiring. service was good, waiter recommended bottle of wine for our entrée selections.
Very creative menu, excellent presentation, and high level of professionalism from staff, especially because the staff is all in training.
OUTSTANDING FOOD AND SERVICE WINE LIST TOO I WOULD MAKE THIS A YEARLY GO TO
I LIVE 2 HOURS A WAY THINK YOU DAVID ZISBLATT
Delightful. We go there twice a year. The service was a bit slow due to kitchen backup. The waiter was very attentive.
The service was sloppy, my duck was inedible, & the wine list needs some serious improving. I have dined here before in the past with much better
experiences. But after this trip I won’t return.
I've been going to the CIA for 30 years and watched it grow. It has had good and not so good years.
I think they are back up to their prime with regard to food quality. I especially love Bocuse.
The real fun, besides the food, is talking to the students who are serving you. Find out where they are from and what they plan to do. Delightful and delicious.
I have been lucky enough to eat here many times! The food is outstanding, and the decor is modern and elegant. The students are learning their craft, and they all are trying so hard to please ~ they are delightful! I would recommend this fantastic restaurant to anybody who enjoys a great wine list, delicious, creatively plated dishes, and who has a an interest in the process of the school's mission: to train consummate professionals in both culinary arts and food service. Speaking with students who are nearing their graduation date about their specialties and future plans is always fun, interesting, and enhances the overall dining experience.
Our first time at the new French Restaurant at the CIA and it was not packed so very comfortable and easy to talk to. Nice atmosphere, good waiter, and the food was all tasty. I liked the portion size, not too much and the selections could have been a few more for the main entree. I would go back and service could have been a little slower, more time between courses.
There’s a comfortable feeling at the CIA restaurants combined with excellent, interesting food. And great wine and a wonderful martini—gin, of course.
Just an excellent dining experience. We will be coming back. Just excellent.
We enjoyed every aspect of the dining experience. Our meal was well presented and excellent. The service at the restaurant was informative about the selections and well attentive to our meals. I would definitely come again Thank you
I had a wonderful delicious lunch with a friend. The food was amazing! We had a fun time chatting with our servers who were very knowledgeable about the menu and their plans after graduation from CIA in just a few days after our visit. It was also interesting to be able to see into the kitchen from our table and watch the student chefs preparing meals. Such a great dining experience!
A great opportunity to enjoy outstanding French at reasonable prices especially with the 3 course fixed price dinner.
The food at CIA is excellent. Service, however leaves much to be desired. In my last visit, the waiter bungled the wine order. Net result was that they attempted to charge me three times the price of the bottle I'd requested and shown the waiter on the wine list. They eventually relented and charged me correctly, but it did leave a sour taste in my mouth.
Lovely atmosphere. Food was delicious. Service inexperienced
Hudson valley restaurant week was great
We had a great time and would recommend it. The food was excellent. The student server could not have been better.
My wife & I come up to Bocuse Restaurant three or four times per year. The menu changes with the
seasons, it's always unique & interesting. Every meal that we've had on our over twenty visits has been
just excellent. We're coming back, soon. Candlesticks.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with the Prix Fixe menu which allowed multiple choices from appetizer, entree and dessert.
Service was very good with multiple servers taking care of us, making sure water was replenished, dishes removed quickly and friendly faces.
I enjoyed delicious meals at a nice restaurant. The exterior and the surrounding landscape are also wonderful. The main dish was beautifully served and I liked the seasoning of duck.
Food is good, service is not attentive, poured our own wine, had to ask for bread.
Fantastic food.....great service. Highly recommend.
Very nice! Had a lovely meal. All the food was exquisite and the staff was very helpful. Very artfully done. Cheers!
My wife enjoyed her Poulet en Vessie but my Duck Breast was terrible, probably the worst of my life. The meat was very tough. It was rather small and at least a third of it was fat. The skin was not crisp (as advertised). The maple leaf sauce was overwhelming. Other than that, it was good. The potatoes and the brussel sprouts were O.K. but uninspiring. The entree and the dessert were fine but it amazes me that you don't serve espresso.
We have eaten at Bocuse many times and this was the first time that we were disappointed.
Half my dinner arrived cold, duck breast was tough. I generally enjoy the experience of eating at the CIA, but at these prices I expect much better.
