My son and I had a very nice meal here, and were reseated easily in The Restaurant after changing our minds about being in the bar area. The service was excellent, friendly and fast. The food in general was very good. The only things I was a bit disappointed with in my meal, were the vegetables weren't quite cooked enough and were hard to chew and swallow and the roast potatoes were overdone and tough, maybe been left out of the oven too long? My son's meal was perfect though, so maybe I was just a bit unlucky. I would definitely go again and see how my meal was that time.

My father, brother, and I had a truly wonderful visit to The Boatside Inn yesterday! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious – hearty, flavourful, and clearly made with care. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and there was a great selection to choose from. The drinks were excellent too, with a good range of local ales and other options. It's clear that this is a place that values good food, good company, and excellent service. We left feeling completely satisfied and already talking about when we could return. It's the perfect spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal with family or friends. Highly recommended!

Our first evening trying the Boatside. We were slightly disappointed at the service and length of wait time from start to finish. On arrival menus put on the table with no mention of soup or pie of the day. We arrived at 6.30pm and the restaurant certainly wasn’t full . We had no starter and our 3 mains (2 fish and chips and a rump steak) did not arrive until 7.25 No one apologised or confirmed the reason as to why there was a delay. When our meals arrived we had an incorrect item although did say happy to keep due to the time we had waited for the meals The batter on the fish and onions rings was very pale, uncooked and greasy which I was surprised at given the length of wait. The steak I ordered was well presented but the quality of meat wasn’t the best, cooked as requested but a very chewy cut, perhaps as a result of being too thick? Overall food was ok but not brilliant.

We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch in the conservatory surrounded by greenery. The staff were lovely. The portions were huge. My only slight caveat was that there was only one veggie main on a Sunday- a nut roast. I also wonder if the pie of the day is ever veggie ? It's so rare to get a proper shortcrust veggie pie and there are so many options, such as cheese and onion, mushroom and ale, Quorn chicken etc. Loads of outdoor seating when the weather plays ball. Reccommended.

Food was excellent, as usual, and appropriately priced. I had the hake which was very good and my partner enjoyed the fish and chips, although there were only nine chips, which looked a bit mean! The setting is very pleasant, the staff attentive and efficient, but once again the ambience was spoiled by a family nearby with noisy children, who shouted, poked each other, and made endless trips to the loo. Perhaps better segregation of different types of customer might help, but next time we’ll try the tables in the bar, that seems to be child-free.

Disappointing experience. Went with 3 others for lunch. I was the only one to have a starter. Service was very slow. We did not get our main courses until after an hour of arrival and that was following some prompting. The double baked cheese soufflés, which 3 of us had were very deflated. The fish with the fish and chips was also disappointing. Crème brûlée very average. We have visited the Inn on a number of occasions in the past and had good experiences. The location is great and the ambience fine and we have enjoyed going there. However on this occasion the experience was poor

Not a good day today. The kitchen clearly had a bad day - no cauliflower cheese left. Ok, our service was 3.30pm, they may have been busy. No mash potato left! Two of us had the smallest spoonful. We asked for an extra portion which is when we were told none left (no other extra veg provided). We were offered extra roast potatoes and were charged further! Overcooked pie of the day. Thought we’d try dessert hoping this would be better. The Brûlée wasn’t cooked! I left it. The lemon cheesecake base was soft/stodgy and no vanilla ice cream or cream to accompany. No acknowledgement of the feedback, everything charged in full. This is usually a nice place. If this was my first time I would not return. I hope it was just a bad day! Today, I wish we hadn’t bothered.

Our meal today was outstanding. We had the cheese souffle and fish cakes to start which we shared and both dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. We followed this with a buttermilk chicken burger and beef burger which again were just lovely. Our deserts were lemon cheese cake and chocolate mousse. Could not fault the service. Very professional and friendly...we will be back.
