Very slow service clearly understaffed would not return
Very short staffed, food was not as described on the menu. Waiting time was very long. Overall not a success.
Such a shame as it’s set in a beautiful area.
Always good food and service but today we waited a while for drinks and were told the drinks lady had too many tickets!! If it is busy perhaps a couple could do the drinks to clear the backlog 😐
Fantastic fresh mackerel caught the same day
Can not recommend the boathouse highly enough! Fantastic food, great service and value for money. Have eaten here 4 times in two weeks with various friends and family with all super impressed.
Was seated straight away, waited 10 or so minutes to have our drinks orders taken. Food was average, pricey for "fish and chips". Girls were lovely and polite.
Just expected it to be so much better than it looked.
Very pleasant lunch, good atmosphere and great views out to the harbour side. Wonderful catch of the day, fresh mackerel lunch - you could believe you are in the Med on a good summers day in Plymouth!
Food was lovely, the setting and views were great and the service was exceptional.
Excellent food and exceptional service. Enjoyed our visit and will be back
Is very good taste fresh food And very good service Helpful and friendly staff
Lovely setting great service and outstanding fresh sea food would highly recommend the fish pallet to share
Totally doggy friendly, the staff were great. This is our go to Sunday morning breakfast spot, love it! Great food is a bonus :)
Super quality fish and scallops. Simply prepared , well cooked. No frills value for money. Will go again
Was great! My grandparents loved it. Amazing view good food and drinks! Couldn’t find drinks menu online.
Love this place. My got to place for Mussels in Plymouth with very generous portions.
Unfortunate experience with our mains arriving at different times (30 mins apart). Wait staff all really good, just a shame about the food.
Excellent service, food and ambience. Perfect spot on any day
Went for breakfast service a tad slow but food was nice and all hot. Very loud music playing which was not to our taste but we could still talk above it.
lovely place lovely setting looking forward to coming back when the suns out to try an evening meal
Lovely fresh seafood and great g&t options. Great for casual dinner. few desert options though we were asking late. Everyone enjoyed the dinner. Will be back.
Very expensive for very mediocre food.
The fish burger was dripping something out the bottom, the waitress acknowledged the issue, but didn't offer to resolve it. She said it was water. This meant the bread was sodden and the meal abandoned halfway through.
Battered fish & chips plus a fish burger and 2 drinks cost £42!
It's only the lovely staff that saved this from being a 1 star experience!
Really good quality food, reasonably priced and in a lovely location with great views. Will be back!
Good food, very pleasant service, very good ambiance. Only negative, music was too loud and we were next to the loudspeaker. It was turned down a little.
Our lunch at the boathouse was very enjoyable. The venue is lovely with views of the harbour. It was a hot sunny day and it was great with the roof open to be warm, but protected from wind. The service was efficient and friendly. I had the prawns with chilli and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were very good. We did not enjoy the loud music and were rather concerned that the plates on tables outside were not cleared away, so the seagulls were helping themselves to left overs. But overall, a good experience.
If it’s fresh fish you are after cooked well then this is the place to eat👍
Lovely and friendly service from all staff. Quick service.
Lunchtime we decided to have fish and chips ,bad choice the chips were frozen and the fish was mainly batter ,very poor and very expensive ,not what we expected ,we all ordered drinks soft drinks and beer ,my aunt who is in her 80s was given a pint of larger .We left and bought or coffee and cakes at Piermasters
Food was exceptional, scallops and scampi melt in your mouth and the fish batter was crispy, without over powering the fish. Only note for improvement, is possibly the chips, but that didn’t take away from the meal. We would return and recommend.
The service was poor, the food was okay. Slow service with food put onto the table for four guests, no cutlery, no napkins, no condiments, we had to ask for these which came in dribs and drabs meaning the food was not hot. Menu is fairly limited, no second drink service offered so we had to go to ask for this. By 9.30pm it appeared clean up was taking place and we should leave, no staff to be seen. The Maitre D’ was pleasant on arrival. Lovely setting but service severely let it down! Must do better.
Very nice meal, friendly waitress/waiter service, would definitely return
We turned up at 4pm a full 2 hours early. This wasn't a problem to them and they were very accommodating. The starters were very fresh and came out quickly. I ordered steak as a main which was under cooked, my partner had fish and chips which was very nice freshly cooked. The waiter noticed I hadn't ate all my steak and offered a dessert on the house. All in all a lovely experience I would recommend this restaurant.
Great food, lovely fresh fish. Good service too. Overall a great experience.
I love the boathouse for its location, atmosphere and decor. The service is always great. But the food really lets it down. You guys really need to do fresh chips not from frozen and everything is deep fried beyond belief . More fresh food on the menu and less cafe style would be fab. More salad options etc. Also kids menu isn’t great everything with chips but that is the same everywhere. A toddler menu of just mini fish finger sarnys would be great.
I do love the Boathouse though and will keep coming back in the hood the food improves!
Lovely food, apart for the squid was a bit rubberised. Service was great. Wine list not so great.
Arrived late but wasn't a problem, had lovely sunny table, service was very friendly and the food was very nice. Will go again
Our first visit had been highly recommended we will be returning.
Great service wonderful food.
Greeted well, staff well informed re: covid measures
The Special on 24th June although very tasty was not very filling.
We ordered some bread to soak up the garlic butter which cost extra. Whilst we didn't begrudge the extra payment we felt that it should have been served with vegetables, chips or some sort of extra filling.
Great breakfast experience
Staff very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us.
