I went to the Boathouse at Sunday Park to celebrate my birthday. This was my first visit and I was charmed by its scenic views. We arrived in time to watch the sunset over the river. The waiter was friendly and went out of his way to make the evening festive. I had the scallops and they were divine. Very romantic.
Ok, so we've eaten at the Boathouse at Sunday Park several times. This was the worst visit ever for us. It was a solid half a star visit. But, wait.. why did I give it 5 stars? Let me explain...
We had a party of 9 for brunch for my daughter's 11th birthday. Our drink orders were messed up. 4 out of 9 people got the wrong drinks. Our food orders were messed up. My teenage son ordered the bread pudding French toast and it came out about 15 minutes after everyone else got their food. The birthday girl got an omelet but ordered a waffle, I ordered steak and eggs, steak was WAY over cooked, eggs were undercooked, 2 people order crab cakes benedict, but the eggs weren't poached, they were hard boiled, all 4 kids were supposed to get homefries but got French fries with their French toast, when we said something, the server said he would fix it. Well, they brought out MORE FRIES.. We had 6 of those little baskets of fries on our table.
So, after this bad attempt at a birthday brunch, we asked to speak to a manager. This is how the Boathouse went from a half star review to a solid 5 stars.
The manager came over, LISTENED to our issues, SINCERELY apologized, and offered to remake food that was wrong. We turned down the offer as now it was over an hour into our visit and we had someplace to be. She did insist we get desserts. She personally delivered the birthday girls dessert with a candle and all, comped all the desserts, and again stopped us on the way out to say sorry.
Notice NOT ONE TIME did she make excuses for the issues we had. As guests there, she knew the reasons there were issues wasn't our problem so she didn't make excuses. She apologized, fixed the issues, made it right, and invited us back and assured us that we wouldn't have that experience again. Excellent job to the general manager of this location! We WILL be back!
My mother passed away and I did not feel like cooking. So we went to the Boathouse and had a delicious meal. The lobster and salmon were terrific! The chocolate box martini was the bomb as well! Highly recommend!
The food was delicious and the views of the water/sunset were beautiful. It was a little noisy, though we could usually hear each other. It did get noisier when a large party arrived. Menu emphasizes seafood which is to be expected with a restaurant named The Boathouse. Will definitely go back.
We go to all the boathouse locations and usually have good results. On this occasion we ordered the grilled seafood platter. The price was very high for what we got. It was very disappointing. The crab cake we received was all filler. You advertise hardly no fillers.
Rocketts Landing is better ,the service is
Everyone was very happy with their meals. 2 sirloin steaks, mail, and salmon
The Boathouse at Sunday Park continues to be one of our favorite places to meet friends for wine tasting, dinner, celebrating special occasions (our son proposed to his wife there and BOTH our children had their wedding rehearsal dinners upstairs) or a quiet Sunday brunch on the deck in the summer! Attached is a photo I shared on Instagram from a Sunday brunch last summer... always sad to see it go and look forward to the upcoming season!
Michael is a great sommelier and always puts together a great wine list for first-Wednesday wine tastings, Deana makes a great cocktail, and we love being able to stay for dinner to catch up with friends.
After 16 years I can say that we continue to visit and enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the fun! Highly recommended!
It was a lovely restaurant, the food was delicious and the staff was super attentive.
I came here to meet up with some friends from high school. The food was amazing, and the view was lovely!.
Excellent food as always. The Mgr. came to our table and congratulated us on our anniversary. She told us our desert would be comped. When the bill came we were billed for it anyway.
Excellent food and drink! Beautiful view of the sunset over the water.
Visited Boathouse on 2/22/18 for a special occasion (birthday-retirement).They wanted to know if we were celebrating any special occasion and if we had any seating requests. We indicated yes. What a wastes ,as to any results. They greet you with a happy birthday (thats It). Why ask if we have seating request if you can't honor them with a 2 week notice. This will be our last visit to this establishment. Better place to go that treat you better.
Sunday Bruncjh needs a new set up.. should not have to travel all the way downstaira for a buffet. Food is cold by the time you return. Wait staff horrible. You will wait!
The service staff were friendly and attentive, food was great, and atmosphere was relaxing.
I loved my food and server was very attentive. I wish I remembered her name because she really was great. The only thing that I thought could have been better is the portions. I paid about $65 for 2 people and we didn’t leave completely full. I would say for the price, portions should be bigger. But overall, it was nice, food was delicious, and the place was beautiful.
Great food, great service. Window sash was broken but that didn't affect us because it was already dark
Pre-Daddy/Daughter Dance dinner
Our dinner was a Valentine's Day celebration. Everything was perfect!
One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Food was excellent service was top-notch and they were busy but kept the wait time short.
This was our first time going to The Boathouse at Sunday Park and t was a great experience. The staff was very friendly, excellent service and excellent food as well. Definitely a 10/10!!!
We had a wonderful night on Valentine's day.. Sunday park has a special place in our relationship.. The food was magnificent and well worth the night...
I have been going to this spot for 30-some years. Back when it was Sunday’s and through all the changes. It’s beautiful but lately the food seems to have gotten a little bland. Or at least what we ordered was bland.
The room we were in was super dark but lovely still. Service is usually exceptional
Service this time was not great as I think our waitress was drunk. Seriously.
Typical really good restaurant and delicious food. Super service, beautiful view.
Nice atmosphere. Food a bit pricey. Tables were quite close together. Good food, but expected better flavor for the price.
Hunter was our server and provided fantastic service.
To expensive for little bit of food 5 shrimp for 26 bucks is itls retarted
Food very good. Should provide a bread or finger food while waiting. Waiter appeared was assigned larger table. Took a long time to get a drink order. Other wise a great dining experience.
Dinner was fantastic. Service was exceptional (Jeremy G.) Lighting and ambiance were perfect.
Great overall experience. Will definitely return.
We frequent the Boathouse throughout all seasons. The staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We love the ambiance and we always meet the nicest people at the bar and have great conversations. Our favorite bartender is Tiffany.
Highly recommend. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Staff are very helpful in make suggestions. Wine and dinner was hands down, the best we’ve had in a while
Beautiful building and view. Excellent fresh seafood. Very friendly staff.
Post 6 month anniversary
We wanted to take our daughter and son-in-law somewhere nice for a Christmas present. The Boat House was very nice. I talked my daughter into trying oysters for the first time. The Rockefellers were great. The food was very tasty and the service spot on. Wednesday is Wine Wednesday so we had a nice bottle of wine also. I would definitely go there again. My daughter hinted a couple of times she wanted her husband to take her back there.
Went for family brunch on New Years Eve. Excellent food served, waitress very attentive but not obtrusive and the value of the food and ambiance very worthwhile.
Had omelette and waffle buffets for brunch. The omelettes are large and the food was tasty. Only complaint is that the carafes of mimosa should be made with cold liquids and no ice (which diluted the drink). Service was fantastic- server was great and the floor was clean.
This place is becoming a favorite for us for Sunday Brunch.. The atmosphere is great, service excellent, the staff is friendly and efficient and the food is consistently good. You can order from the menu or take advantage of the specials where they make an omelet to your order, or great waffles. There is a buffet table that goes with the special.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great service, excellent food, a little loud but not unbearably so. Was a little disappointed nothing special was made for our anniversary, but that’s not necessarily a standard thing.
Very pleased that our server, Marlon was detail oriented and helped navigate the menu around my food allergies after consulting with the chef. Food and service were excellent.
I have always enjoyed the Boathouse for brunch and dinner.
