Wonderful! The food and atmosphere was perfect!
Great evening. Staff was super friendly and gave us an anniversary card to boot.
Very nice Sunday brunch menu. Good selection of menu items as well as an optional omelette and waffle bar. Prices are reasonable and the ambience is nice. Highly recommend.
Excellent filet mignon, very tender and flavorful
Took my daughter here when we went to visit her at VCU. Wonderful location and nice decor. Lively atmosphere and not too noisy. We did not need to speak with elevated voices to be heard at the table.
We were initially sat in one of the high back booths. I usually love sitting in the booth but these booths had not back support and were very uncomfortable. We asked to move mid seating and luckily they were more than accommodating.
Started with the grilled oyster sampler. Great dish and good variety. My wife had the shrimp tacos and I had the lobster roll and my daughter had the grilled seafood platter. Generous portions on all. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Would recommend highly.
Delicious! We really like the food here and the service is good. Pricey though
I was very excited to visit this restaurant and I was especially excited to get the chilled seafood tray. When I arrived we was greeted by an excited host. We order our food and waited. Once we got the tray the disappointment was written on our faces for the host to suggest this over priced tray would feed four is an insult . Had I seen this on a picture I would have definitely gone to another seafood restaurant that gave u more bang for your buck. Also the host was very insulting suggesting the we have a bottomless pit for a stomach .I’m guessing as young black individuals we are always eating smh. I don’t think I will be coming back to this establishment nor will I be recommending it. $115 and a waste
Good service, good food and good ability to chat.
The shrimp tacos were amazing! We made a reservation, which I recommend because they fill up fast on the weekend.
Thank you for the 5-star review!! We are so glad that you were blown away by the Shrimp Tacos! See you soon.
The service was excellent. The food was very good given the location. I did not expect much given it is a mall based restaurant - but the seafood was fresh and there were a lot of choices. We started with Oysters on the half shell and they were delicious.
Thank you for your review. We're glad you had a great dinner accompanied by excellent service! Can't wait to have you back for more oysters and seafood!
Been to this location two times and Hopewell many times. Always enjoy but service was not up to par this time at Shortpump. Took way too long to order and to bring items out.
Ken, it's really disappointing to hear that we didn't live up to your expectations from previous visits. We're sorry that you experienced long wait times to place and receive your meals. We understand that you've had better visits with us in the past, and we hope that you'll give us another chance to impress you.
I would recommend The Boathouse to someone looking for good quality food. I would not
recommend The Boathouse for someone looking for a seafood restaurant. The restaurant only
has two offerings of fish, salmon and fish of the day.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the amount of seafood options. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to seeing you again.
Birthday brunch before the theater
Thanks for the 5-stars! We were happy to celebrate your birthday with you. Hope you had a great time at the theater! See you again soon.
We ordered the crab appetizer which was very good. I ordered a lobster and was dissapointed that it was small, overpriced and the meat was pretty chewy. The mashed potatoes and asparagus was very good. My hubby and son both ordered salmon. They both said that it tasted great but felt the portions were very small (sides too) for the price. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive but we all agreed that we probably would go to a different restaurant when we visit the area in the future.
Sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. Thanks for the feedback on the food and menu prices, we'll pass that along. We hope you'll give us another chance.
Kevin took care of our party, and he was awesome!
Always a favorite spot. More than one in our group had "not so warm" mashed potatoes. Other than that, all went well.
Open Table reservations has a drop-down for special occasion: Birthday, Anniversary, etc. This should be removed as they Boathouse does nothing for these events. They don't give you birthday cake for birthdays and they don't give you marriage councilors for anniversaries. Being there suggests that they care and want to add to the experience. That they don't is OK; however, they shouldn't make you think that something will happen.
Brunch needs work. Omelettes and waffles need help. How about a little biscuit gravy or something else?
Better than a chain... fresh seafood, but my daughter’s chicken was very mediocre. Salads were tiny... so tiny as to be comical. Go to eat seafood. Period. It’s The Boathouse.
Galen was an outstanding server! Had a great experience and food was all delicious!
We had brunch which is the first time we had eaten there. We had previously only been at the bar. The service was awesome and the food was equally as good. We stayed at the hotel right next door which could have been iffy, but was a really great experience. We will be back when in the area.
Wonderful service. Delicious food. Lovely setting. Very reasonably priced for an elegant brunch. We enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend
The Boathouse is a good restaurant for casual dinning, but not for intimate, romantic dining. I didn't enjoy the loud "pop" music. I had eaten at the Rocket's landing location and the attraction there was a view of the James River. This mall location is OK if you happen to be in the mall. I would not recommend a friend make a special trip to eat at this restaurant.
We chose the Boathouse because of our satisfaction with its other locations. Although the Short Pump Mall is not waterfront, the place is a good spot for a good meal if you are in that territory. The mussels were excellent, and the salmon was delicious. The wine prices were reasonable, which is remarkable -- most restaurants gouge you on that item.
My wife’s birthday. Great food and a good time for all.
My husband and I enjoyed our very first dining experience at a Boathouse restaurant this past weekend and I have to say it was amazing! We had no complaints whatsoever. Will definitely come back!
Great aa always!
The Boathouse at Short Pump has a fine staff and we prefer this location to the downtown location; never been to other locations. Normally, we request Brandy as our server, but we failed to do so on this visit. Mylasia did a fine job. Everyone at our table enjoyed the meals which they selected. Presentation was good.
Excellent menu options, top-notch service, great presentation and delicious food in a vibrant, contemporary environment. The scallops were grilled to perfection, and my wife loved her Chicken Chesapeake. It's nice to have this option in the Short Pump area.
This was an average experience at best. My steak was just another steak I could have bought at any of several of the national chains and spent less. We sat at ordinary chairs at ordinary tables. There was little that made this location stand out. No tablecloths, no salt & pepper at the table, and the only steak sauce available was A-1. No dinner salad accompanied the meal and no warm rolls were served. For the price we were charged, there should have been rolls, a house dinner salad with an in-house dressing, perhaps a house steak sauce, or at least a choice of commercial sauces.
Waited a bit for our food but it was worth the it! Good food is worth the wait. Prices a bit higher than I feel need to be. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and the manager came to speak with us and congratulate us. Super nice folks!
Enjoyed our dinner. Been here a few times.
Never had a bad meal ! Service wonderful.
Neither Yes or No! The Food just wasn't that great at all. My wife's selection which was a dish involving the chicken was Dry and both of our mashed potatoes were awful. The waiter was pretty nice and great atmosphere.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We had a wonderful dining experience, with the exception of one of glasses wine was dirty when it arrived at our table. The waiter took it back to bar ( we perfect table across from bar) the lady bartender looked at glass and shook her head with attitude. I noticed our waiter went several times to bar to get us a new glass of wine with no results from the bartender. Finally after 10 minutes without wine the waiter went to the manager who immediately went behind the bar and poured a wine and brought it to our table and apologized for the dirty glass. The food was amazing and we enjoyed it very much. When we received our check the waiter said the manager had taken off the wine because of the dirty glass. Overall, it was a great experience minus watching the bartender and her attitude.
I had lunch at the Boathouse @ Short Pump. The food was excellent. The Zucchini chips with ranch dressing was a delicious appetizer! I also enjoyed my Caesar salad with an added crab cake. There was a moderate crowd and the service was a bit slow. Many tables that were seated after me actually got their food before me!
Portions were tiny for the price. My wife and I shared two apps and I ordered the salmon as an entree. The food we got was good but I left hungry.
Delicious surf and turf. Great service! This was my first dining experience at The Boathouse, and I’m ready to go back soon.
Food is the star of Boathouse. We ordered "I love Shimrp" sushi roll and calamari to start off with. The sushi roll was so delicious we ordered a second serving. Very delicious and was fully cooked for those at the table who don't eat raw. One of us disliked sushi but enjoyed the roll so much he would just order sushi next time. I ordered the broiled seafood combination. It seemed like a small portion on the plate but was very filling. 1 scoop of mashed potatoes, the seasonal vegetable (in this case 4 cooked asparagus), 2 scallops, 2 shrimps, and 1 crab cake. Food was very delicious and filling. The only minor downside was the service. Waited a long time for just 1 sprite. The waiter passed by multiple times and was reminded of the sprite but didn't receive till the entrees arrived (an hour or so). Otherwise, food came out as aspected and in a timely manner for a sit-down restaurant. Booths were very uncomfortable and left us sitting at a 90-degree angle. Fairly pricey but the quality was worth the price. 3 appetizer and 4 entrees equaling $180. Food was fresh and quality. Seafood didn't make anyone in my party sick or needing to go to the restroom. Overall worth the trip.
Had a great time! Food was great
Excellent food especially the wood grilled scallops. The service was attentive and professional. A very nice dinner with friends.
Always a good experience
