The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing
Brunch was fantastic, what incredible views! Starting at the bar with great cocktails & quick service, not sure of the bartenders name but she was awesome. Then once seated, the great service continued with our server Carter.
We may have been a little rowdy after a boozy morning, but he didn’t lose a beat and did a stellar job all around. This group can be tough to please but as we departed they all had great things to say about the drinks, food or service! Thanks for making my in-law’s anniversary special!
We were already dressed up and decided we should go out “someplace nice” for an early dinner. The Boathouse at Rockett’s Landing had a 5pm table available and didn’t batt an eye when we showed up early. They were able to sit us at a table outside right over the River with a great view and a pleasant breeze. Service was prompt, professional and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller and a caesar side salad to start. I had the seafood sampler (broiled shrimp, scallops and crab cake) and substituted truffle-parmesan fries for the mashed potatoes. My wife had the filet mignon (med. rare, perfectly prepared). Both came with asparagus which was perfectly al dente. The bread pudding with vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce was superb and the crème brûlée was spot-on. We don’t get down that way very often but each time we’ve been it’s been a very special and pleasant treat.
Our waitress provided great service and the view was amazing.
Was everything we wanted the food was hot fresh delicious our waitstaff was top notch the view outside was beautiful
We have enjoyed the Boathouse on several occasions.
The food has always been exceptional as has the service.
Always seated promptly and the food served promptly as well.
Our servers have been great and we often follow their suggestions.
We frequently recommend you and our friends share similar experiences.
We always food left to enjoy the day after.
Bay Area Rigging
My wife and I dined on their Chilled Seafood Tray once again and it was good, but this time around the lobster tail was tiny and I question the claim of 1 1/4 lb of lobster which seemed rather puny compared to past trays. Otherwise it was ok. If they would switch from mussels to clams that would be an improvement too at $79.
The food from the omelette bar was cold except the omelette itself, my friend ordered off the menu and his food was also cold, ate at Short Point about a month ago and nothing was cold, really disappointed, no salt , pepper or ketchup on the table, ask for outside sitting and was told it was first come basic and was sat in side with open tables outside
Our server alley was so generous and kind she made sure that we had our food and drink within a reasonable time I definitely will be spending more of my money here
It was a great evening and the folks at the boathouse did everything to make it so. I just wish we could’ve sat on the deck.
I love Boathouse. Particularly Rockets Landing because this one seems more romantic. This last visit was sorta meh....My server was great. Very attentive but not intrusive like most places. Food was great but our table outside had no lighting. We literally had to order with a small flashlight 😥 that our server gave to us. She eventually was able to get us some lighting but the mood had pretty much been blown by than. I'd still come again here though. Hopefully that was just a one off situation.
This was our first visit for a celebration. Our service was horrible, had to get our own drinks from the bar. We had to continually flag down various people for refills of water. Our appetizers took 30 minutes to arrive. After an hour when our food finally arrived from another table it was first delivered to it was cold. Asked to speak to a manager who never arrived.
Great view, good food, truly slow service
The repurposed building is brilliant, but the restaurant, not so much. The dining room is a big, loud barn, so conversation is difficult. The food is generic over-fried and over-seasoned Modern American. Nothing to see (or taste!) there. Our waitress was in training and full of standard “are we still enjoying everything?” generic phrases. To be fair, this is probably not her fault. BUT if you can score a table outside, gazing at the sunset and the river, and stick with the simplest preparations for your seafood, I think you could enjoy yourself here.
Absolutely wonderful in all respects! Looking forward to another visit soon!
Everything was great.
Great service, delicious food and a beautiful view of downtown Richmond!
Great food as always. Excellent se vice. Our waiter Trey was exceptional
love the relaxed atmosphere, nice view , delicious food with nice presentation ,service was well-timed and friendly
Will definitely try it again
The Boathouse was the perfect place for our double date anniversary dinner! The service was knowledgeable, friendly, and timely. The food was excellent - fresh ingredients and thoughtful pairing - and the mixed drinks were superb. We requested outdoor seating with our reservation and due to inclement weather, we were seated in the best corner booth surrounded by windows and excellent views. Every detail was taken care of and we will certainly be back!!
The pasta special with shrimp and filet was awesome! Should always have this entree. Manager was great.
We were outside on a Sunday afternoon (5ish)overlooking the river. That was the nicest thing! My shrimp taco were prob the worst I have ever had. They fried them? and the breading was stale? How can you mess that up? My husband ( his b-day) had shrimp and grits he said he would give it a C-much better elsewhere. Calamari was good (again though question their breading,or old oil?)and drinks were good. I won't go back for dinner again. Next door restaurant is much better, and they were jammed packed! We didn't need to make a reservation plenty of seats. The waitress didn't seem to like her job. A gentleman came over after apologizing for not recognizing my husbands b-day then the waitress followed with an apology. That wasn't a big deal to my husband. But the people across from us another waitress said something first thing to the birthday girl. Too bad not many restaurants along the river so much opportunity there.
Very friendly, efficient staff. The brunch has something for everyone!
Visiting this splendid city and had Sunday Brunch. The James River views from the patio are SUBLIME!! The music, albeit, an enjoyable 80’s playlist was so loud, that conversation was challenging. However, when asked the service attendant quickly decreased the volume.
Enjoyed the omelet bar, especially the Chesapeake option with real crab meat. Attentive wait staff. Overall a splendid experience
We are regulars and tak out of town guests there frequently. Love the day. Thanks
Food was delicious, especially loved the Oysters Rockefeller, clam chowder, & crab cakes.
The river view is gorgeous and the staff were very polite and understanding in their accommodations of the two children we had with us. The dish my partner and I ordered was only so-so - tough broccolini and underdone rice. The vegan "crab cakes" were really good, though! And thanks again to the staff for helping to clean up after a very messy baby. We really appreciate it.
The time to get food out of the kitchen was too slow. The food was good however.
Was surprised they did not serve bread with the meal. The waiter was very personable.
cocktails very slow to come to table. food also slow to come out-- we were told that a big party had put their order in right before ours was the reason for slowness.
but overall, we enjoyed it very much--it was a very nice place.
We sat on the deck because inside is VERY LOUD and I almost never sit inside because of that. We had great service lovely sunset. Wine deal was excellent.
We were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary. The hostess was super nice and held us a window table even though we were late! Our server did a great job with drinks and food! Food was good. We were full and the manager came by and gave us a card for a future free dessert! So nice! Recommend
We requested a specific beverage and it wasn't available.
It’s an Amazing space in the river. Has a modern but comfy atmosphere. Our was good but had a couple of issues so gave a 3 stars.
The food was very good, the boathouse margarita was very disappointing. The waiter was attentive to our needs.
We stopped for lunch on our way to Richmond International. The service was great, friendly and speedy. The food was delicious. Probably the best shrimp and grits I have ever eaten. The fried oysters were crisp and fresh. I would recommend for anyone looking to enjoy seafood with that southern twist.
Our monthly Sunday Brunch was very good as usual. I see that they swapped out sausage links for paddies this go round which were much better than the last batch of links. Hope they stick with Paddies. Otherwise all the side fixings were very good as well as the omelettes.
Great night time view and a fair value for the portions they offer. I can recommend this place for any special occasion.
We went to The Boathouse to celebrate my daughter's Birthday. The location is right on the water with a nice view and the service was outstanding.
I made a reservation a week or so in advance and it was very easy to make! I had wrote a little description on what the occasion was for (birthday) and received a phone call a couple days before to confirm the reservation and was asked what kind of accommodations I would like; for ex:(dessert being brought out for the birthday celebration. When we got to our table, there was a card on the table which I thought really added a special touch. Also, I did not remember I had mentioned this when making the reservation but my fiancé and I had recently got engaged and the manager had brought us out champagne with strawberries in it, which again was very special and thoughtful. The service was great, we had a waitress who did admit she was new to The Boathouse team but she did an excellent job. There was also other co-workers that helped her as well which also shows how attentive all the employees were to the customers. The drinks and food were amazing. We did have a view of the city which was incredible, but I will have to sit outside next time just to be able to enjoy the view of the city a little more!
