Worth every penny. Loved the place and food.
Loved it ! Food was great and so was the service.
The food was great as usual with attentive service. The rain drove us to the covered patio but did not dampen the ambience. A lovely place for a Sunday brunch.
It was very pleasant. The food and service were outstanding. We will go for brunch again. We have been on a Friday night but it was so noisy that we couldn’t hear each other talk so probably won’t go again for dinner.
We were entertaining friends from out of town and wanted them to enjoy the view and
This was our second time eating at the Boathouse. The first was in Oct and the middle of the week. It was lovely. This last time we went on a Saturday. It was very loud and difficult to talk with our friends. Food and service was good. Will go back but not on a weekend.
My girlfriends took me their for my 50th birthday brunch. Loved the atmosphere. The food, drinks and service was wonderful.
My husband and I had dinner here for our 7th wedding anniversary. We ate outside and it was beautiful. Try to schedule your dinner around the sunset! Seeing the sunset over the James River and the lights coming up in Richmond is magic.
Only complaint is that I ordered my fillet mignon medium rare, and it came out medium, but it was still tender and juicy
We went to the boathouse to celebrate our engagement. We were actually celebrating and Viewing the venue for the possibility of hosting th ceremony and reception. We loved the view and the service was fantastic. Trying to work on the rest of the details. We loved being right on the water with the skyline in the distance.
The food, service, and drinks were amazing. We went for my husband's birthday so we splurged and got appetizers, mixed drinks, dinners, and dessert so we had a little bit of everything and every item we had was perfectly prepared. Our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing. Overall a great experience! We will be back for sure.
The Boathouse was a "good" experience overall, but some issues made the experience feel impersonal. I called an requested a table by the window and that was not honored. The waiter wasn't able to answer a question about the cocktails on the menu then was a little too "helpful" and we felt a little rushed. It's a good restaurant, but not up to Richmond's standards.
The other course of my party arrives late and they were very good about sitting me and serving the appetizers. The food overall was excellent and so is he atmosphere. The only negative I see it is a little loud but that has a lot to do with it number of people present. The food was excellent
The bar was out of a couple of scotch brands that my guess were requesting. That surprised me.
We had a nice night but not what we were hoping for. It was a special occasion and we were coming from out of town so we booked well in advance, requesting a table near a window / with a view. Confirmed 2 days prior. While I realize the restaurant can’t guarantee seating we got literally the only table that was next to a section of brick wall so literally couldn’t see outside at all (the view is the main draw for this restaurant.). Server was fantastic but something went wrong - dessert took over 30 minutes after we ordered. Very loud (although I’m sure by design.)
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Boathouse. I was celebrating my 21st birthday with a group of less than 10 and there was still plenty of space . We had a reservation in which they called to check in on the day before and asked if we had special requests. They fulfilled my special request to sit near the window, and it was a very pleasant experience. The food came in a timely fashion and was placed very elegantly. If you're looking for a restaurant that gives you a lot of food for your money (quantity) then this wouldn't be a good choice; yet, if you are looking for food in which quality dominates quantity against money then this is a definite choice. Beautiful scenery, beautiful space and would definitely visit again.
Everything was wonderful! We had a toddler with us. They brought her food first, so she was quite content.
Enjoyable Easter and fabulously delicious dinner with amazing views.
NEVER DO I WRITE REVIEWS ! But..Very Disappointed for the price! First time there , went for Easter Brunch. We were the last seating at 3pm and were told when we made the reservation that the late seating quality would be as good as the early seating quality ;OR .. we would NEVER have booked it. I specifically called to ask the reservationist when booking if it would be better to come for dinner on Easter - she said the Brunch was a must !!! On the buffet, half of the food trays were empty and not refilled. What was on there, was fair quality at best .The bread was rock hard, salad was old , very few entrees. View was great . Not sure I would give it a second chance. We dine out at nice places frequently- this was A DISAPPOINTMENT FOR $ 40.00 plus dollars per person.
I love The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing! I drive down every year from Maryland with family and friends to enjoy the wonderful Easter Brunch. The Shrimp & Grits, Mini-crab cakes, Norwegian Salmon and the Eggs Benedict are my favorite and now I can add the Truffled Cream Corn to my list! Absolutely delicious and unique. The staff are great, personable and attentive to the patrons. Everyone greets you with a gracious smile. I have also had their Thanksgiving Buffet and it also ranks at #10, especially the Grand Marnier Cranberry Sauce. The restaurant is great for large or small groups. You have a scenic view of the James River and city of Richmond. Parking is easy and accessible. I prefer the top floor dining area to the 1st level. You should visit this restaurant at least once and make a special occasion!
The Easter Buffet was Terrific as was expected, a real treat like their Thanksgiving Day Special. My only problem is forgetting my age and not resisting the urge to overeat, ugh. But that's not a complaint ;-)
We came tot the boathouse for Easter brunch. While the food selections were rather good, the cost per adult was rather high.
We attended the Easter brunch. It was very good, with lots of delicious options. They were well prepared for the increased activity of the day, and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised that their eggs benedict, despite being made in bulk, was spot on - runny yolks, but cooked well on the outside. Al- in-all, the entire party came away very full and happy!
Food was great, drinks were great. Beautiful view of water.
Super fun Industrial open air venue. Fun hip bar scene, would be great with group or date night. The outdoor patio is fabulous in warm weather. Inside there is a bit of everything, booths, Tables, and farm table type seating, take your pick. Service was terrific, and staff quite pleasant. The food was super fresh and yummy. The Mahi mahi with lentils and root puree was devine. Great time had by all.
I took my best friend to dinner for her 28th and everything was amazing! We were immediately seated and Aubrey took care of us! The food was also out very fast. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we were done dining( apps, drinks, entree and dessert) by 7:30. The food was also delicious and that smoked Gouda sauce that accompanies the salmon is to die for!
We had an enjoyable meal and great service. The crab cakes were superb!
We go to BH Rocketts Landing as often as we can. Since we live 45 min away sometimes winter weather is a factor. This restaurant is the whole package, not 1 area is weak. Great holiday buffets, too. We love the Boathouse. Great servers are Aubrey and Denissa not one bad server on staff.
The Sunday brunch environment has really changed. There was a group of people near the buffet area and they were REALLY loud. The host or manager should have asked them to keep it down a little. Not only were they loud, one of the ladies language was so profane that we were more than ready to leave. Also, the waitress brought out our drinks and we never saw her again.
We usually come here around 11:30-12. We came later in the day this time. The environment definitely changes as the day goes on.
I had the Crab Cake Benedict with asparagus and potatoes for brunch is was cooked perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious, service was great and the 1/2 carafe mimosa which went well with my meal.
Great Brunch On Sundays as per usual. So far they have taken all of my suggested improvements, well.......except for adding a sausage gravy boat to the buffet ;-)
Great as usual. Never been on a Friday, very busy. I prefer weekdays or Sundays, but always a pleasure.
The Boathouse lived up to all expectations. The oysters were phenomenal. The food and service was top rated. It is worth the money. Nothing but the highest recommendation!
Service was great. Food was very good except that all the entrees had too much salt. Noise level is high and so best to go as a small group. Prices are in line with what would be expected for a quality restaurant. The location and views of the river are great.
Wonderful location on the James river..cool contemporary glass walls windows accents and fun food!! Great party place too.!
Arrived just after opening and asked for a table by the window. Was told they were reserved for four not two even though half of the tables already had couples sitting at them. Later, another couple asked to move to the window and was moved. I asked if the policy had changed and was told they were expecting two more. When seated, however, they removed two place settings which meant a table for two. Obviously, there was some form of discrimination going on.
Wait staff and hostess polite and attentive. Enjoyed my time and food. Very accommodating and food was delicious
Our waiter did a great job providing a wonderful dining experience for our wedding anniversary. Being able to pre-order our appetizers was a great surprise to my husband. And the red velvet cake, special on the menu, topped off our delicious meal.
Recommended by a friend. Enjoyed immensely. Would go again. Not a quiet atmosphere. Food is amazing!
We arrived at 2:30 on Sunday, only to be told the menu was limited as they change over for dinner preparation at 3:00 pm. The entrees we were looking forward to were no longer available. We both ordered omelets and found it was more like an "egg with your vegetables". The omelets were overflowing with vegetables, to the point of dissatisfaction. My omelet had been cooked in a pan that had cooked other entrees all day long and had a faint odor of burned oil. I don't believe we will be going back.
