The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was unique. The the noise level was a bit high. Prices were on the high side, especially for the amount of food received. My husband and I shared an appetizer, salad, and we each had our own entrée, but we left feeling still a bit hungry. They could fill up their plates with a bit more food, especially since the entree prices are rather high.
We were a party of 9 celebrating my Mother’s 91st birthday. We were seated promptly and a great table where we had an amazing view. Carter arrived at our table immediately and provided outstanding service. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the appetizers we preordered were very good, calamari and crab and artichoke dip. Would recommend this restaurant to others for most any occasion.
First time visit for out of town guests. Outstanding view; may be best in RVA. Good but not great food. Crispy Pork Belly was all fat and not Crispy, but otherwise the food was good. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Fun evening right up until I realized I had paid $11 for a call whiskey AND $2 extra for the ICE‼️ So if you want a great view of the city skyline go to the Boathouse, but you might want to bring a cooler with your own ice
They were able to accommodate a large party of us with ease . We had a fun night and really felt like we were able to talk to one another and converse even with the person at the end of the table despite the energetic vibe . The food was delicious , service spectacular , and view was incredible ! Thanks ! We will be back !
It was our anniversary which we spent with a nephew and his girlfriend from out of state. It was a great experience for all. We were well tended to, and the food was fabulous. The corner window table was perfect as it wasn’t as noisy as it is in the center of the room. A bonus for those of us hearing challenged by background noise. Thank you for a perfect evening
We went for NYE and our reservation was for 8pm. We did not actually get seated until 8:45pm because our table was occupied. The manager on duty (I assume) gave us an appetizer on the house & prepared a new table for us. The food was good but my steak was undercooked. Had we not waited so long, I would have sent it back. However, my boyfriend offered to switch entrees with me. This definitely was not my best experience here and was disappointing .
This was our 20th anniversary dinner. We expected it to be busy and loud for New Year's Eve. We were disappointed with the meal preparation. My wife ordered an 8oz. Filet prepared medium. The filet was served rare. She sent it back and was returned still not prepared medium. For a higher end venue you would expect your steak to be prepared and served correctly. She substituted the mashed potatoes with pasta which was way over cooked. The presentation was the pasta on the plate with the filet and Brussel sprouts on top of the pasta. why not serve on separate plates for a more pleasing presentation? Attention to detail is important and proper food prep is paramount.
The Boathouse is great and Richmond is lucky to have it, but once again, we felt rushed and were with a server who didn't ask for the extra little pieces of information to help us order. The wine took a long time to receive. I know it was Christmas Eve, but we come often. The biggest irritant is that EVERY reservation is always confirmed with a telephone call that implies - call back, we must hear from you. I've never missed a reservation ANYWHERE in 30 years, why do you always call when someone has a perfect history. It's just a little irritating.
Our table by the fireplace was cozy, and the views were beautiful. We were there for brunch on a Sunday. The Bloody Mary's were served in a $12 carafe...the drinks were okay, but a little heavy on the Vodka and light on the Bloody. We will continue our quest for the best Bloody in RVA! The Chesapeake Omelet from the breakfast bar was delicious.
I've been here on several occasions. The only issues I have were the prices and the temperature of the food. I know seafood is high, but this is still overpriced. This particular time my sides (potatoes and asparagus) were cold. The view is spectacular, the restaurant is very clean, and the service is great. The staff is always friendly.
