The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing
The service was wonderful. Our waitress was very attentive. The food was fresh and delicious.
It was very busy for a Tuesday night but service was excellent.
Wonderful experience. Great food. Beautiful setting. Great service. We intend to return to try the Sunday brunch sometime soon.
The Boathouse at Rockets Landing has the foundation to create the perfect evening for families and friends.
-The view overlooking the James River is breathtaking.
-The attentive and friendly service was near perfection.
-The entree was tasty however forgettable.
For the appetizer, we shared the calamari which was nicely cooked - lightly breaded. (my favorite for the evening)
For the meal, I had the shrimp tacos while my husband enjoyed the grilled shrimp with the pineapple salsa. All was good— just wanted more “wow” especially since the view, atmosphere and service were terrific.
I will return but may stick to the bar for drinks, water views and appetizers.
The food was delicious, the service was good. We arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait 25 with no place to sit.
Your dress code of “smart casual” was a total misnomer. On a Sunday, a lot of clothing was suitable for a backyard, casual, cookout. The noise level was uncomfortably high.
The seafood was great, but my daughter who doesn't eat seafood ordered a piece of grilled chicken. It came with the wrong sauce and she had to wait 15 minutes to get the right one. Also the chicken was very dry- cooked about 10 minutes too long. I've had better chicken at Golden Corral.
Excellent! Reservation was ready on time; seating outside as requested and the service was excellent. No one was in a rush to "scoot us out". Leisure, Saturday evening meal. Food was excellent, 3 entrees, all were shared and delicious. Cocktails were replicated a few times , the later as good as the first. I heartily recommend the Boathouse and will be returning.
I had been given a gift card by one of my students. I saved it to celebrate my 19th wedding anniversary with my husband. The staff was excellent ( except I am not sure ALL the serving staff wash their hands before leaving the bathroom). The view was very nice and the live band next door was an added bonus. We ordered the broiled seafood platter. There was nothing special about it. Maybe if it had been hot. The food presentation was nice. We felt like we had over paid, even using the gift card. I wish it had been excellent.
Everything was awesome about this place! Great view of the water and the city!
Would recommend to anyone how loved good food, good people, and a great place.
After 5 years of patronizing the BH@RL we had a less than stellar meal! Sweetheart ordered salmon entree with leeks and rice, I ordered vegan "crab cake" dinner with rice. My entree had broccolini. I was looking forward to bright, slightly crunchy veg. It came brown and shriveled. Sent it back, slight improvement. Both of our rice servings were yellow rice, dried out, clumpy and flavorless. Like the side accompaniments were left over from a previous meal service? We soldiered on, ordering the Chocolate/Chocolate Cheesecake dessert. They were out, our waiter (James) was not informed prior? I asked for the Peach/Blueberry Cobbler. Another fail. Peaches rock hard, juices still white with cornstarch, 5 blueberries, not sure WHAT the crust was, but not a crumble. Disappointing over all, after SOOOO many sumptious meals. We will return and give it another try!
The omelets are delicious but there needs to be a better system. One person making omelets for Sunday brunch is not sufficient. Long lines and wait times while standing around diners who are trying to eat is unpleasant. Peach Bellini carafes were mostly ice.
My wife and I went for the Sunday Brunch to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We had a nice table overlooking the canal and the boat docks. The service was what you would expect and our waiter was attentive and helpful. We had the omelette bar and the Crab Cake Benedict. Both were outstanding with the exception of the yolks on the Benedict were a little over done. Otherwise, all was great.
Really nice experience and the manager visited our table with a gift card for a desert on our next visit.
Food was good. The crab cakes are to die for. BUYER BEWARE: if you order the scallops prepare to get robbed. You're only gonna get 4 and get charged $35 bucks for it. You may have to donate a kidney to pay for the bill but other than that it was nice.
I opted for the soup which was clam chowder, but they sprinkled pork bacon across the top. Had to send it back. The lemonade was pricey.
We visited on a Saturday night and the food and service were great. We had some oysters, shared a salad, and had the shrimp and grits and crab cakes as entrees. All were outstanding. The only downside was the noise level, which was not so much that you couldn't hold a conversation, but almost. We will definitely be back
Poor service and loud, uncomfortable environment. Not a good experience at all.
Sat by the windows over looking the river. Great views! Was a tad bit warm for our liking. All of the food looked amazing! Some things tasted great like the oysters and the crab cake. The filet mignon however did not taste the price. For the price the beef should be prime and it tasted like choice. All in all it everything was good though.
A little disappointed in the overall experience. It was my wedding anniversary and my husband and I are foodies and were hoping the occasion would be special. The food was just average nothing spectacular or making us feel like we had to go back again and the power went out for about 30 minutes randomly. We were not compensated for this mishap and even though I notified the restaurant of our celebration beforehand there was nothing special done and the manager (which I’m sure was completely busy figuring out the power outage) came and wished us a Happy Anniversary as an afterthought. Truly disappointed. The view was very nice though the only memorable thing about our evening and experience there.
Had an absolutely wonderful evening with my date and although it was super loud and hard to hear each other, the service was fantastic and the food was phenomenal. Would definitely recommend.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary as indicated on our reservation and confirmed with a phone call by the restaurant. We were seated right of the bar. It was very noisy and we had butts in our face. We moved after asking to sit somewhere more quite. It was very noisy even in our new table. Order a salad that featured blueberries and it had less than 10. When the first ingredient listed is blueberries there should be more. Overall the food tasted good, but not great. The portions were very small. I ordered a seafood entree that included a crab cake, two scallops and two shrimp and it was $38! Crab cake was very good. We did not stay for dessert due to noise level.
An absolutely perfect evening with perfect service ☆☆☆☆☆
Beautiful venue, great service and fabulous food. A clear home run that I work visit again in a heartbeat.
As ever the view and the setting are superb. The service was friendly and good. The wine list though is mediocre and the chicken breast we had was extremely dry and the vegetables just adequate but not something I'd order again.
Food was good, table service was great overall great experience
Sunday Brunch is nice out here during the summer. Nice place to take a date. Sit on the balcony and enjoy the scenery!
Wonderful meal overlooking the James River.
4 Scallops for $28 I think with small kernels of corn and tiny green beans? Too expensive for what you get. I recommend improving on the sides that compliment the dish. Good but not worth the money. There are just too many other options in Richmond at this price point.
It felt like the air conditioner was not working. My entire table was sweating throughout the meal. It took a long time to receive our order and there was water on the floor when you walked in.
My husband & I had a great experience. Our food was delicious and was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was attentive, but didn't bother us and interrupt our conversations. The only thing I found lacking is that I prefer brewed coffee to french press and I wish that had been an option. Otherwise it was an overall wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.
Very prompt and friendly service! We were seated by the window with a great view of the James. We like this Boathouse location the most from any of them. Always a treat!
My wife and I ordered the chilled seafood tray again and it was good as usual. The oysters on the half shell were a bit butchered when shucked (meat in pieces) but still tasty enough. The chilled seafood tray (an appetizer for 4) is rather pricy at $79 but it's a good meal for 2 people with 2 side salads.
Nice setting and atmosphere but felt the dinner was just ok and a little overpriced
Music is too loud. But it was pretty
Great brunch menu and very nice space!
Great food! Incredible service. Beautiful view. My only disappointment was they were having a CO2 issue and couldn’t serve draft beer.
It was also very loud in the restaurant since it is one big open space. We were also seated right under the music speaker. My husband and I had come for a romantic evening away from children and really wanted to talk. We asked the waiter if the music could be turned down a notch and they easily complied. That helped a lot.
Excellent dining experience tonight with friends. Started out at bar with apps and drinks and then situated at a window table overlooking the James River. Great dining experience tonight...we triedThe Boathouse again after being disappointed previously for our anniversary reservation in June. Manager did apologize for their mismanagement of our reservation during our anniversary celebration and rewarded us with a generous gift card. We did come back on our own beforehand and were happily surprised with a positive dining experience tonight. It’s a “ hit/ or miss” experience but will admit food and ambiance are well worth the trip if you are lucky to get in on a good night w/ proper service, noise levels and sunsets. We will be returning and highly recommend. They stand by their establishment and listen to feedback.
The food is over priced for the quality. It is difficult to see went you first walk in the place from the sunset. My wife had the turf and surf, the steak was good, but the lobster was over cooked and so dry it was stuck in the shell. The wine was to expensive for the quality of food and clientele. It appears to be a special occasion for most people dining there and our waitress presented the menu as if we were there for a special evening. I have dine there on other occasions and the experience was much better than this recent visit.
We had an issue with the fresh catch of the day as it was not good. It was returned and the staff was great about it but it did put a damper on the evening as one couple was eating and another was waiting for food. Overall this is a nice place but on the evening we had an issue. Still like it and the restaurant is beautiful. May try and do something about the sun coming in at dinner time as it is blinding in several locations inside. Wearing sunglasses at inside dinner is a little nuisance.
The crab cakes were amazing!
Always have had s good experience but this time the shrimp were very over cooked to the point that we didn’t eat them.
