Good ambiance and location on the river. We were able to take some nice photos on the patio with the Columbus skyline in the background. As a table of 10, we were served our meals starting one and a half hours after our arrival, with meals being served 15 minutes apart. Food itself was fine, not overpriced.
Sat on the patio and it had a great view. Drinks and appetizers were great, the grilled chicken was a little more blackened than I would have liked but everything else was fantastic. Service was top notch
Excellent food, beautiful setting, great service, reasonable price compared to similar type restaurants. Will definitely go back.
Service was very good. Efficient and courteous. We had out-of-town guests and asked for a table with a view and that is what we got. Noise level was low and the room was uncrowded (weekday evening).
We ordered five dinners and four were excellent, one was terrible. The poor quality meal had a chicken breast that was overcooked, almost burned. It was nearly impossible to cut or chew. We were going to send it back but didn't have time and didn't want t make a scene in front of our guests. Fortunately, their meals were excellent.
A poorly cooked meal can happen at the best places so we do not hold it against this establishment that this happened in our case. But for the price you expect a bit better quality.
The food needed seasoning
Our server Jessica was wonderful! Made great food and beverage recommendations.
Amazing food and service with a view
I can see how this restaurant would be AMAZING in the summer. The views of the skyline, even at night, were so pretty and the service was great. The food, however, was average for the price. I got the Parmesan crusted chicken and it was pretty dry over pasta that was a little overcooked. Mind you, I'm being critical because of the high prices of the menu but the service was amazing (Rihanna was our server - LOVED HER) and the ambiance was romantic and relaxing. I look forward to returning in the warmer months to enjoy the patio.
A great space to have an event with an amazing view of downtown Columbus! The food was good, but not great!
Loved it. You can't beat that view and the happy hour specials are great!!!!
This was my first time back to the Boat House in a few years and it was as lovely as I remember it. We both enjoyed our meals, our server was very nice and attentive, and you cannot beat the view. Will be returning more regularly!!
Very good. Food and drinks were great. The manager came and spoke with us a couple of times.
Thank you for a very nice first experience.
Beautiful spot, first time there, already planning a second visit
It was to celebrate our 12 year anniversary my husbands birthday and Valentine’s Day also a big shout out to Tammy our waitress that surprised us with a cake
We ordered calamari for an appetizer which came out rubbery, the server said it was over done and brought us out a new appetizer at the same time the mgr brought out our dinner netrees, so the appetizer was barly touched as our sea bass and scallop entree would not get cold. I would have thought they would have not charged for the rubbery appetizer or at least delayed our entrees....bad execution of service.
My wife’s dinner was very good but my steak was dry and over cooked. I mentioned it to the waitress and she didn’t seem to know what to do. I left over half of it.
I had very high expectations of this restaurant because my parents had been and they had raved about it to. They did not disappoint. I would suggest making a reservation because it is a very highly sought out location, where they also host events and weddings. The host sat us at our window seat, which I had requested and our server Jess was very attentive to our needs the entire time. The general manager was very visible throughout the night, talking to guests about their experience and bringing out food. It is expensive but the quality of the food matches that, and it was delicious. My partner got the Parmesan crusted chicken and it was huge and so delicious. I got the shrimp scampi and it was still steaming when it arrived at our table. The restaurant was quiet and intimate, and it felt like the staff was actually able to focus on us because of it, which was a nice change of pace from most restaurant where staff is stretched so thin. We will definitely be coming again.
Ambiance and atmosphere was great. Calamari was very bland. Fried cod had too much oil soaked into the batter. Potatoes were great as was the slaw. Medium guiness steak came out well done but still good flavor.
My wife and I wanted to go out and she thought it looked nice from the photos. It is a nice place to see and has a nice view from the dining room. The place was clean and staff was friendly. There was several events and weddings taking place. It seems geared towards large parties. The service was very good and quick. The food was good but not spectacular. It was a nice meal we just felt the pricing was high for the food. The place could use an update to the decor. There was a lot of people taking photos and having a nice time we just felt the the cost was a bit much for the food. There was also nice fireplaces and seating was comfortable.
Service was top notch, manager and waitress were friendly and helpful!
First time here for me and my date the service was great and the food was delicious!!! The seating was nice as well got to see the river view from the booth. Great first time restaurant
This is not our first visit and definitely will not be our last. Valentine’s Day was a beautiful evening on the river. Wonderful service and great food. Thanks.
Great atmosphere and excellent service would definitely go back
We thought the menu was limited and food could have been better. Overall the evening was good and service was great.
The property is and building are not well maintained. Our server was rather impatient, and developed an attitude when we did not order alcoholic beverages. Our meals arrived and were totally different temperatures. My wife’s meal was so hot she burned her mouth. Meanwhile, my $50 meal was almost room temperature, and my filet was not cooked to my request. Overall the experience we had was just one let down after another. On the walk back to the car we both said that we would never come back.
Aside from our experience, from what I could tell, other patrons were having their own disappointing experiences. While waiting quite a long time for a slice of cheesecake, I observed the couple at the table next to us inquire about a vegetarian option. Instead of the server inquiring with the kitchen staff or manager as to options and alternatives, she proceeded antagonize the patron and act as though the resquest was offensive and out of line.
The atmosphere/views from the boat house is absolutely beautiful but the menu/food is definitely a D-. We had shrimps scampi and catch of the day with risotto. The scampi is soaked in greasy oil/butter and well done fish with uncooked risotto. Also, we didn’t get anything offered for our anniversary. we were short changed by $0.96 cents on our check! Not cool!
I really want to like this place since the location is so perfect and beautiful views of Columbus and Scioto River... the only awesome thing about the boat house is for private events due to the views.
Food was alright, not over the top like I was expecting, and unfortunately after getting the seafood plate I still had to go home and eat a sandwich.....the wait Jessica was top notch , with dealing with my family on my daughters 18th birthday.
Absolutely one of my favorite spots in Columbus!
Always a pleasure to be here - thanks for letting us close done the place! M&M
Amazing food and service. The food came out quick and our waitress was phenomenal!
Me and my boyfriend wanted to try a new place to eat and restaurant week always has some really good deals. This just happened to be the place we came across. For the appetizer the loaded sidewinders were really good. For the entree I had the shrimp scampi linguine and dessert I had the strawberries and cream cake. Overall the meal was delicious and I highly recommend getting the wine pairing. The service was excellent and always seemed to check on us at the right times. Would recommend coming here to anyone and will definitely be back during the summer to enjoy the river view! :)
Very slow service I had to remaind my waitress to get my boyfriend’s drink
Food was good, not great and service was fine but didn’t fit what I am accustomed too when visiting fine dining establishments. Generally over priced for the experience received. I’ve had similar “good not great” experiences at chain restaurants...
Amazing food! Ambiance was perfect. Tammy and william did a wonderful job at making myself and my King feel nothing but important. Would recommend to everyone. Thanks for making date night memorable.
I haven't found a restaurant with a better view. The entrance with the fireplace makes it so warm and inviting. The host was pleasant and we only waited a couple minutes to be seated. We had kids with us and the management was great at making them feel welcome. The menu for them was fabulous. My daughter ate her entire meal, first time ever. My son loved his fruit cup and chicken. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meal and drinks. The only negative was that our host/waitress forgot to bring a high chair for my toddler and he sat on our lap for a few minutes. When she came by to check on us, she remembered. Other than that hiccup, it was great!
Great ball rooms but needs a revamp!
Food was amazing and the manager was interacting with all the guests. He mentioned to multiple tables to let someone know if something wasn’t perfect
Went for restaurant week and the food was pretty good...but the views and service were EXCELLENT! Would definitely go back.
My friend and I went to The Boat House to enjoy Restaurant Week.
Our waitress, Heather, was the highlight of the night as she was very attentive during our dining experience and graciously anticipated many of our needs!
The food, however, was subpar and felt like something I easily could have gotten at Olive Garden, which was quite disappointing as it was my first experience dining here. If it weren’t for the starter salad, I would have rated the food 2 stars.
The restaurant week starter salad was mixed greens, candies walnuts, cranberries, Gorgonzola with vanilla bean balsamic vinaigrette- OUT OF THIS WORLD! I finished the salad and found myself wanting more it was so good!
As my entree I got shrimp scampi linguine, which was not great. The sun dried tomatoes in the pasta were unbearable chewy and hard that I found myself eating around them. The pasta, which was relatively a fair portion size, was good, however the sauce was boring (especially comparing it to Columbus Fish Market restaurant week).
The dessert was the best part, a basic carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
The best part about the service was the manager that paid great attention to our wine glasses and when they were low, would come by and attentively refill them with the bottle that we had on our table. I’ve never had someone pay so much attention to my glass before- thank you!
The biggest downfall of the night was the disruptive work party of about 10 people hanging out at the bar that were audibly drunk, loud and obnoxious.
There were maybe 5 dining tables, including us, however, thanks to the disruptive work party we could barely hear ourselves (and we were sitting a good 30 feet away). Not the type of dining experience I expected for a place that’s NOT a bar.
Overall, we might return this spring/summer to see the view over the river and if they don’t redeem themselves then, we will cross off The Boat House as a future dining option.
Have not been to this facility since it has now become The Boat House Restaurant, and we definitely loved it. You definitely can't beat the views looking up the river at the downtown Columbus skyline. The service was great, our water glasses never went empty. Our meals were warm, filling, and very tasty! It looks like The Boat House is working to have a solid Happy Hour and events to take advantage of the waterside patio. Looking forward to trying this out in the Spring!
