The best sandwiches I have had at Afternoon Tea. The fillings were unusual and delicious. Staff were very polite and attentive.

Wonderful service, from entering to service staff. Attentive & knowledgeable. Wonderful views. The roast pork & cracking Sunday lunch stunning, roast potatoes & veg, all perfectly cooked.

Arrived to an empty reception with a note saying come down and join us. The Coppernose where we had our booking was roped off and in darkness. We followed the sign but the doors to the downstairs restaurant were closed and there was no member of staff to be seen. Eventually someone came out. Could not find our booking and then they said, oh, did a member of our team not contact you to tell you the quiz was cancelled? Obviously not! Such a shame that this beautiful restaurant is empty and soulless on a Thursday evening. We went next door to the Mute Swan which was packed, so it’s not for a lack of business in the area.

Suspected the salmon was off, surprised when I sent back a full plate, the waiter didnt question this. The waitress who welcomed us was great but unfortunately our male server was surly and disinterested with a dirty apron.

I’m sure that we were just unlucky, and it should be noted that I intend to give this establishment another chance, but several things went wrong from the off: as far as I could tell a complete lack of signs indicating the location of the restaurant, the receptionist being rather offhand and unhelpful, our table not being ready due to the managers using it for a meeting, waiting quite a long time to be given menus, choosing our food only to be told we’d been given the wrong menu, and then several items on the official but rather limited and quite expensive menu being unavailable. In the end we gave up and left without ordering. Our star rating for food is thus erring on generosity, as I am sure the food, had we ordered any, would have been excellent; certainly the food we saw on other tables looked delicious! The decor and location of the venue are both excellent, and on a sunny day would be a lovely place to have lunch.

Lovely setting and place to go. Unfortunately the waitress was twice sent back by the kitchen to advise of multiple items that we ordered weren’t available and clearly hadn’t informed them prior to ordering so they could tell us. We then had to follow up as a few items of our meal hadn’t arrived and seems that the kitchen hadn’t read the ticket properly so hadn’t made half of our dishes. We were going to order another drink but no one came back to our table to ask if we wanted anything else. Would have ordered desert if the service was slightly better. In the end had to go up and ask for the bill too. Unfortunately a disappointing experience but the food we had ordered was good.
