    We had a lovely meal at The Boat House yesterday. The food was excellent with surprising ingredients which made it all so unexpectedly delicious. The service was excellent too and very attentive. It was a quiet night which served us well, and I personally was glad that there was a heater, as I hadn’t dressed for a somewhat cool atmosphere due to the nature of the building. Would recommend it heavily and will try to come back on our next visit.

    Absolutely brilliant 7 course tasting menu, no idea why they don’t have a Michelin Star already, this is an absolute gem of a venue, with wonderful and friendly staff welcoming us back and recalling small details about our last visit. The food was locally sourced, incredibly fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Our absolute favourite ❤️

    Superlative and faultless... a truly memorable dining experience! We wanted to celebrate my brother and wife's upcoming 50th wedding anniversary, a special event for a special couple, in some style and our evening at The Boathouse exceeded our high expectations in achieving that. It was a cold, wet Wednesday evening but inside it was all warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional: from the a la carte we had mackerel and lamb as starters; hake and the fabulous Dexter beef fillet for main; Irish Cheese, chocolate pave and lemon parfait to finish. The portion sizes, the presentation, the balance of flavours, all impeccable. The wine list provided a very good choice and was also competitively priced (certainly compared to what we have in fine dining restaurants in Brighton). We were served by David who has the perfect balance of professional friendliness and attentiveness whilst providing helpful and interesting information of provenance on the food, wine and whiskey. Unfortunately I did not ask the name of his female colleague but she also served us very well indeed. John Hollywood, the chef, came to the table twice: the first was to explain the amuse-bouche which he had been working on for three weeks... a delicious mouthful of crab on a squid ink crisp with a kick of chilli heat; the second time was towards the end of the meal which gave us a chance to congratulate and thank him. This particular Wednesday evening will stay long in our memories. On our next trip back from England to stay with my brother we may not have a special event to celebrate but we will find a suitable reason to treat ourselves again at The Boathouse.

    Never fails to impress. Really interesting dishes, accompanied with unusual wines (we had the tasting menu with wine pairings). In particular the wine descriptions were not only informative, but entertaining. Our whole party thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.

    Absolutely top class. I don’t know whether these guys are actively chasing a Michelin star, but it feels like this place is on the cusp of getting one. It really is that good. Service is amazing, especially the wine knowledge and pairings - David the Maitre D is pretty much a sommelier himself, but a down to earth one. Makes a big difference. The originality in the food is really remarkable. Sea buckthorn purée anyone? Foraged from the local pier. Foods you literally don’t see anywhere else, presented as little works of art - all fun. Not cheap but hey they don’t pretend to be. Good value though. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

    Another excellent dinner trying the new autumn/winter menu. The food was brilliant with a lot of new ideas and flavours - really enjoyable. Brilliant service from manager David as usual and also some new(?) staff members who gave great descriptions of each dish. They were also more than happy to accommodate dietary requirements of one of the guests which was really appreciated.

    Had a lovely evening with my husband as a late birthday celebration. Staff and service wonderful as ever. Food was excellent but personally prefer salmon to trout and the lamb was a shade on the rare side for me but tasted good. The courgette dish was my favourite dish! I am not normally a fan as it is so bland but the spices were amazing and the was still a bite to the vegetable. We found a new white wine which was delicious and all in all had a lovely time.

    Beautiful tasting meal in a lovely intimate setting. Everything had such gorgeous flavours and paired so well together. Staff were very attentive and pleasant, (they moved our booking but more than made up for it). It is expensive but it is a tasting menu and it is obvious the food and wine used are of very high quality, also no more expensive than other tasting menus. Would strongly recommend to anyone!!

    Having dined here before I was eager to experience it again. Unfortunately the menu was incredibly restrictive and ridiculously over priced. The restaurant was completely empty bar our table with only one other table dining towards the end of our meal.     New Taster Menu. The Last one was amazing, this new one exceeded expectations and was out of this world. Chef really excelled himself and moved it up to a whole new level. Thank you to Chef who spoke to us, and I was able to compliment personally. Service was amazing as always. Staff know the menu and ingredients inside out and also the wine and cocktail list. Another super amazing experience. Is 6 stars an option!
