The service is always just a little off, not all staff, but there's always something with this place. When I asked for water, I was offered sparkling or still. I chose still as this generally means tap water. I was given a bottle of still water (top already off) & glass. I asked if there was a charge & was told yes. I gave immediate feedback that it would be customary to advise diners of where the 'help yourself water station' was, or advise of a charge, as its not common place to charge for still water in Australia. Waitress just a bit passive aggressive & this experience is typical (same/same but different) a the Boardwalk, the owner is very often like this. Its such a shame because the venue & location is great so they get away with these little things. Our 2nd waitress was beautiful, but I have not once been to the Boardwalk & not had something a little off putting happen. Recommend, but with a warning!

My experience was shared with friends from out of town who also enjoyed the morning at this restaurant. I must comment on the staff who were exceptionally well trained in friendliness and professionalism. I chose this establishment for it’s beautiful views of the lake however the unexpected fog that blanketed the area was unfortunate.

Very limited menu but great service and lovely location. Was a little overpriced for the breakfast I purchased ( eggs extraordinaire), the waffles were overly sweet. Would be nice to have an option for just Bacon & Eggs or Toast on the menu.

Great restaurant Good service and food Nothing to complain We were given an 8 am slot on Mother's day and it was freezing cold outside and there were elderly people also waiting outside It would have been appropriate for the front door to be kept opened and clients requested to WAIT till the restaurant opens and ready to take in clients to be seated

I took my mum here for a birthday brunch and the staff were so lovely and accommodating, they went over and above to welcome us and make my mum feel special on her birthday. Multiple different staff members wished her a happy birthday, and my special request for a little ‘happy birthday’ note for the table was not only obliged but taken a step further with a sweet little gift in a bag with a printed happy birthday note on it. Couldn’t recommend The Boardwalk enough, everything from the staff to the decor to the food and drink was fantastic. :)

great cafe in scenic location on lake edge, very welcoming and efficient staff, our brunch overall was very good. If I was being picky the juice was nearly all ice and the tea was served in a cup rather than tea pot, which I prefer. Not overly big serves but adequate, probably getting towards the pricer end of things

Oh dear. This was disappointing but let’s hope it was just the result of the Easter weekend … we waited ages for food that was really ordinary. There were rigidities that made no sense. Eg Being told we couldn’t ask for onions to be left out of a salad because they were understaffed it was too busy for the chef to adjust dishes. As a result, usual basic features of feeling looked after were missing. And prices were very high given the quality of the food which was was poor. We won’t go back in a hurry and as said hopefully that was all about poor staffing levels and management of a busy weekend.

We had people standing behind our table waiting for us to get up so they could take our table - they were standing there as that is where the wait staff had told them too. The staff wanted us to leave and had been making it clear before we were finished so they could get the next lot of people in. We had barely been there for one hour…disappointing.

The staff were excellent 🤙 quick to help and take order. The menu needs to change for a lunch menu as having muesli and eggs for lunch mmmm needs something else like chicken and cream sauce the food we had was lovely but a change would be nice but overall 🤙

way too loud in the restaurant, staff were yelling 'coming through' every 2 minutes while walking into the kitchen. Asked for a table on the boardwalk and were told they were all full however for the duration of our meal multiple tables were empty. Waiters were friendly. Food was okay, terrible toast, burnt and so hard to cut. Eggs cooked great!

Hi Laura Thank you for your review, we're sorry that you didn't have a superb experience with us, we are a bustling, loud and noisy venue so next time we'll try and seat you away from all of the action! (FYI, we are currently struggling to re-open fully from C19 and often do not have enough staff to use all of our tables, which is why you saw multiple empty tables. Hopefully over the next few months we will manage to recruit more Chefs so that we can use all of our tables) :)

The male waiter (English) is inappropriate with his addressing to females. We are not his ‘love’ or his ‘darling’. His mannerisms are OTT. The chairs are most uncomfortable. The holandaise sauce on the dish that is at the bottom, on the left hand side is such a small amount (no more than 10ml) that it couldn’t be tasted. Perhaps that is why we couldn’t have it on the side as most venues are happy to do.

Perfect sunny day to visit the Boardwalk and have a table outside on the deck overlooking the lake. Service was quick, staff very attentive and very pleasant. Coffee was excellent, and the four of us had tasty, well presented food. Would definitely visit again when in Bendigo, and i loved how the cafe was positioned out of the main busy streets of Bendigo,as plenty of parking
