Wonderful experience! Wonderful décor. Service is impeccable from arrival till we left.
We took my parents there for dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was also great. We would recommend this place for special occasions or date night!
Awesome! Service was amazing, food delicious. Only thing I would change was the very LOUD woman next to us!
Outstanding service, friendly staff , incredible food
Wonderful experience in a beautiful space. The service is warm and welcoming!
It should have been specified that there would be a very limited valentines menu. It wasn’t stated anywhere
Incredible experience. Thoughtful and attentive staff. Very special night for Valentine’s Day.
Running late, called ahead and host told us not to worry, very much appreciated. Complimentary coat check was another plus. Food was excellent, the duck is to die for. Literally order the duck.
The food, service and atmosphere was great. We enjoyed the evening
The Boarding House is one of our "go to" restaurants in this dining mecca of Chicago. The menu is always incredibly creative, and our favorite waiter, Patrick, takes the experience level up another notch. He knows our likes and dislikes, once we select our food, per his suggestions, Patrick chooses the ideal wines to pair with our meal. He truly makes each and everyone of our visits to the Boarding House better each time. Knowledge, conversation, he has extraordinary qualities. We have so many choices on where to go in Chicago, we choose the Boarding House which has never let us down. Highly recommended.
Server was awesome, attentive and sociable. Happy hour was good too.
Our waiter, Jason was wonderful. The food is usually delicious but each of the guests had something not right about the food. In fairness they didn’t send back or address, most likely so they didn’t offend me since I was hosting. But the steak was undercooked and the squid over cooked. I asked if we could have a drink first and was told that we’d have to have it upstairs at dinner because it was too close to our reservation time which I understood. I was surprised however when we arrived upstairs that it was fairly slow. Perhaps restaurant week concerned them. But it is beautiful and the environment couldn’t be prettier.
Excellent choice for an excellent meal in a city full of good choices.
Beautiful and Unique Atmosphere! Food was fabulous!
Excellent service. Delicious and beautifully presented food. Very charming atmosphere.
My husband and I went to the Boarding House to celebrate our birthdays on 2/3/2018. The food and our waiter was wonderful. The only odd issue was when we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly host who pointed to an elevator at the back of the room and instructed us to go up. Up where and to what floor???? - there was no escort so we hit the button for #2 and saw the kitchen so continued to the 3rd floor to enjoy a very nice meal.
The decor is amazing & very comfortable! Loved everything. Food was wonderful & wine exceptional!
Great ambiance, very good food although limited options, a bit pricey but also in all a strong experience. Waitress was excellent.
As always, we had a fantastic experience. The food was amazing, and Patrick did an incredible job with the wine pairings. We went for Restaurant Week, and Patrick and Matthew (the wonderful Manager) took great care of us. Look forward to our next visit.
Came here for the first time for Chicago Restaurant week and loved it!! Get the Baby Octopus and Torchio Pasta!
Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food, but unfortunately the food was lacking flavor.
We visited The Boarding House to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I made a reservation and everything worked out great. We were seated right away, our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, and we were impressed by everyone involved. Our water glasses were never empty and we were always taken care of even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. We had a lovely table overlooking the entire restaurant. Our food was delicious, I enjoyed the octopus starter and the salmon for my main course. Great flavor! We would definitely return!
We had an amazing anniversary dinner! Our server Collin was amazing...so attentive and knowledgeable. Collin brought us 2 complimentary glasses of champagne to commemorate our 4 year anniversary...such a thoughtful touch. Overall the food and drinks were great! we had a lovely evening!
Really enjoyed Restaurant Week selections of both food and wine. Our server was spot on with recommendations. Will certainly be coming back.
My parents were in town visiting and everything could not have been better. We sat on the beautiful 3rd floor towards the bar and our server was extraordinary.
My dad is gluten intolerant and it is so hard for us to find a great spot with options for him so he doesn't feel like he is getting the short end of the stick and have to watch us all eat amazing things that he can't have. It was so nice for him to be able to participate in restaurant week without having to make alterations to the dishes and actually feel like he was being catered to. A real treat and he is still talking about it! The decor was also really pretty and inviting. We will be back!
Went to The Boarding House for Restaurant Week. Food, wine and service were excellent! The table next to us was very close, but otherwise the ambience was lovely. Would definitely recommend.
I went here on a date at the start of restaurant week. The restaurant itself is beautiful with it’s wine bottle chandelier. The set menu had many options to choose from with additional wine pairing option which was nice. Everything was really good, but it is on the pricier side. I have had better meals in Chicago for nearly $100 a person, but I am glad I tried The Boarding House.
Service was horrific as were the “cocktails” food was very good.
We went for restaurant week. We started with a drink in the bar, and we would definitely go back for their happy hour. The staff are all so pleasant. The potato leek soup was divine as was the cheesecake with sour cherries. The cheesecake had very good traditional flavor. The sour cherries were a delicious compliment. We also had the wine pairing. Our server Patrick shared the history of each wine and what flavors too expect. His presentation definitely added to the value of the wine pairing. Our main courses were layered with flavor. We shared our main courses of Salmon and chicken. Both of us were happy with our choices. All the aspects of the dishes worked well together. We really enjoyed our evening.
