We booked through Open Table then received a phone call indicating that there was limited room in the dining room and asking if we minded be seated in the bar area. Food was good - although a bit pricey.
Outstanding service to complement the wonderful food. Biggest piece of trout ever and perfectly prepared.
Food was delicious. Tried the burrata salad which was so good. At our table we had the duck, short ribs, scallops, and Berkshire pork---they were all fantastic. The only downer was the service. We started out well but as evening progressed our waiter seemed to be occupied elsewhere. Table next to us, sat down after us and got their appetizers and main courses before us. Trying to order coffee and desserts also took time-consuming in fact almost done with coffee before desserts came. We hope that this is just a glitch last night as we like eating at the Boarding House.

Had a great time, but we were there for our anniversary (which I’d shared on open table) and the server didn’t acknowledge it at all.
Food was creative without being overly crazy. Beet and squash salad fantastic.

Been here a few times before and food and service were excellent. This time, food was great but service very slow. Our waiter was not very attentive and took a long time to take our drink and then our food order. There was nearly a 40 min gap between when our appetizers came out and then our entrees.
We are at The Boarding House for Thanksgiving. We had 8 people in our party and could not have had a better experience! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere is elegant with a welcoming feel of a personal home. It's fun to have a cocktail on the first level before heading up to the dining room on the third floor. The menu offered traditional fare as well as steak and other favorites.
Had a most enjoyable Thanksgiving Prefix Dinner. The food and service exceeded our expectations. The ambience was warm, the tsbles were not crowded together snd the noise level was perfect. Will return for regular dining.
We’ve been Thanksgiving patrons for 4 of 5 past years, however this year did not meet expectations. The furnishings are worn. Cocktail menu lacked its former inventiveness. Wine pairing no longer offered as option to Thanksgiving dinner, though wines were paired for us per our request, the wines were not as well suited this year as prior years.
Warm holiday vibe for Thanksgiving dinner! Amazing food and service. We'll definitely be back!
I am from Chicago and miss it terribly. Love to be at a great Restaurant with marvelous tasty food, excellent wines and ambience. The service was excellent! Even though it was the night before Thanksgivinig and very quiet, our server made us feel important.
The wait staff was extremely rude to us and took over 20 minutes to get our check, I would not go back.
Took a friend from out of town here to get dinner and it was great. Monday the have an additional three course menu for $39.
Bad food; boring menu and not executed well
The Boarding House never disappoints. It's a wonderful room to sit in with a giant chandelier of hundreds of empty wine bottles, two story ceiling and large windows. The food is excellent from start to finish and the wine list is most interesting. This is a restaurant we have been to many times and we always enjoy returning.
The Boarding House is one of our favorites, and it delivered once again.
We were going to see Hamilton so we wanted something special. The wine list is extensive. The food is creative and very good (except the salmon - not bad but just average). Staff was excellent - very helpful.
Always a great place - the meal never disappoints. The house Sazerac was spot on, and our entrees were fantastic.
The dinner menu had something for everyone and each item was spectacular, our group ordered different items and shared. And the wine list is an eclectic combination from around the world. The sommelier suggested several that fit our taste , we landed on an Italian that was everthing you would want in a rich red. I suspect there are no bad wines to choose from here.
We normally don’t do desert but the evening was so awesome we had to keep it going with dolce. What a comfortable and friendly place.
I had never been to the Boarding House but went on a friends recommendation. Very pleased with the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and made wonderful recommendations. The food was excellent with a large wine selection.

The host and the waiter were non-chalant. The waiter acted like the questions were a bother to him. The place is overrated. I will not be coming back.
Although the food and service were really good, I felt it was overpriced. We took my mom out for her bday and the 4 of us had an app, 2 drinks, and an entree and the bill was over $400 after tip. I expect to pay that at RPM steak, but not here. So, yes, it was tasty, but I felt like it was overpriced personally. However, they were very helpful with my food sensitivities so that was very much appreciated.
Ambience is great, service is good, but main entrees (Rotisserie chicken in my local grocery store is better and for the fraction of the price!) were so-so, not what you would expect from this kind of restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant and friendly wait staff. Subpar wine selection and disappointing food. The very tasty potato leek soup was only marginally warm. Steak selection was tasty but average. The rainbow trout however was supposed to be pan seared but looked like it was steamed and lacked any seasoning. Pots de creme was excellent for desert so the night ended well.
We celebrated our anniversary at Boarding house. They brought us a menu with happy anniversary printed at the top as well as complimentary champagne! Boarding house staff was excellent and no little detail went unnoticed! They helped make our anniversary extra special.
I found this place while searching for a good pork chop; for whatever reason, I eat pork roughly once a year, on my birthday. It really was great, with a nice accompaniment of sides and flavors. If it came with, say, risotto instead of beans, it would be my #1. With that said, the beans were still good and didn't diminish the meal in any way.
My girlfriend got the steak...but she ruins her meat by having it made well done, so I can't speak for how the steak was, but she enjoyed it. We started with the octopus, which was great as well. Very tender, very nice flavors.
For dessert, we tried the vanilla bean cheesecake and the seasonal cobbler (cranberry and apple). The waitress disclosed that the only thing not made by their pastry chef, was the cheesecake, but it was really good nonetheless. The cobbler was fantastic as well.
Oh, and since it was my birthday (which I set as the occasion in this app [thanks OpenTable!]) the brought a massive piece of birthday cake, which surprised both my girlfriend and I, as well as our waitress. She felt bad she didn't realize, so our other desserts were compensated. We didn't try the cake till the next day, but it was equally good.
Overall, great experience, awesome building/ambiance, and great attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff!

Food and service were amazing! Soup, beer salad, pork chop porterhouse and duck were great. A mustached man spoke about wine with us without being overbearing. Super friendly in fact. Definitely will return!
This is the second time that i have gone to the Boarding House. (So good the first time I went back two days later). The service was great (thank you Collin), very relaxed and attentive. The food was very good and i strongly recommend The Boarding House.
Was here on a date last week and decided to come back with a small business group. Collin was an excellent host in the dining room. It was my first time sitting with her but she has been with the place since day one. Very friendly and great recommendations. Food was stellar. Room had a nice buzz.
Great cocktails, nice atmosphere, comfortable surroundings, and unique menu with fresh ingredients. Make sure to save room for dessert.
From the host stand to the dining room, everything was fantastic! The building is beautiful and it's like walking into a wonderland from the bar to the third floor dining room, both with their own massive wine glass and bottle chandeliers that command the rooms. Bar service was great and I loved the focus on traditional cocktails with spirits choices underneath to show the prices and give different styles.
Our server was great! She knew the menu very well and made great suggestions for two as everything on the list looked appealing. Definitely try the burrata and tuna sashimi and the pork chop was unbelievably tender and flavorful - not to mention the plating of the food lived up to the aesthetic of the entire building. The pots de creme and strawberry shortcake together were to die for!
The wine list was very approachable with affordable selections and a few really cool wines that are pricier but not as high as I have seen at other restaurants around the neighborhood. The server was also great at directing us to the perfect bottle which is one we've never heard of or would have tried otherwise.
Overall great experience and will be back!

Outstanding dinner! The new chef has brought on seasonal and delightful new dishes without changing the overall flair of the existing menu. Boarding house never disappoints. We will certainly be back soon to check out the chefs fall and winter menu changes! Thanks the wonderful meal and experience Boarding House!

Outstanding experience over all. We started with cocktails in the bar during happy hour. If you're drinking wine it's 1/2 off between 4:30-6:30! Afterwards we went upstairs for dinner and sat with Patrick who is also the wine director. He was great at making suggestions and was respectful of our price point. We shared the burrata and octopus to start and then had the chicken, the pork and the rainbow trout which were all Delicious. Finished with a strawberry shortcake which made for the perfect ending. We will definitely be back.
