Impeccable service and artisanal details combine to create an unmistakably refined dining affair. Local, sustainable ingredients are transformed into remarkably creative dishes for dinner and breakfast seven days a week in our stunningly designed conservatory. Simultaneously contemporary and timeless, The Blue Hen will exceed your expectations throughout your experience.
Lovely setting and service so professional. Salmon was the best in flavor I have ever had. So nice that the Adelphi recognizes the value to offering more affordable options for those "quieter" times in Saratoga where the locals can enjoy a reasonable but elegant meal. Reward to them will be ten fold. Hope to see you for Restaurant Week in the future.
Great service, food and atmosphere! Highly recommend for business or pleasure
Service was below average, food wasn’t great. Very mediocre experience.
Prix fixed dinner great value. Interesting choice of entrees / appetizers deliciously prepared.
Had a great dinner celebrating my son’s new job. Food on the price fixe menu was fabulous! Thanks to the chef for sauces on the side making my meal a little healthier.
Thoroughbreds have always come to Saratoga Springs, NY -- whether as pedigreed horses for its racetracks or pedigreed gentry wining and dining on Broadway. Add a new, culinary thoroughbred to this historic stable: Chef David Burke's The Blue Hen at the Adelphi Hotel. The winter prix fixe menu -- three Michelin-caliber courses with a glass of wine -- and panaché with which its staff delivers each step of your culinary adventure (hint: ask for Benny), makes this a truly fine, dining experience.
We simply can't stop 'crowing' about The Blue Hen.
Food was great and the Bloody Mary was amazing.
The eggs and avocado toast was fresh and tasty. We also had the strip steak and eggs with roasted vegetables which was a both delicious and hearty.
The atmosphere is tasteful and bright with glass ceiling and big windows.
Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We celebrated a birthday at brunch and it was a great outing.
This is the best of the best in Saratoga, the food is outstanding and the service is top notch. The squash bisque is a perfect winter appetizer, and the Lamb Crepinette is incredible. On the service side, Ryan paired the wines perfectly with my courses, but every server and manager makes you feel welcome. Incredible hospitality, I cant wait to go back!
What a lovely discovery during our weekend in Saratoga Springs! Light, airy environment with excellent food and service. Perfect for brunch!
The wait staff was good but the food was disappointing. The kitchen did not seem to know the brunch menu and sent out a dish that was unfinished, which took several minutes to be remedied. An overthought menu that falls flat.
Breakfast was wonderful. Great fresh coffee. Egg selections were delicious and the apple cider cinnamon donut holes excellent.
Great service, nice atmosphere, upscale brunch
Coffee was cold. A new pot was brought nice and hot but turned cold fast
Very dissatisfied went for Christmas dinner . Would not recommend or return .
Bartendars at Morssey were not attentive to customers, very slow and too expensive for the quality of drinks. Reservations at Blue Hen on Christmas eve were for 630p and we were not seated until 650p.
Wait staff are very young and not trained well to serve customers in what is advertised as being an upscale establishment. Although food was very good, nothing unique and much too expensive in comparison to other places we have eaten and that were better. It is ridiculous when coffee is an extra charge and waiter did not even ask if we would like some with desert. Overall very disappointing and we will not return.
We have been here before, should have learned from our first experience. It took 20 mins just to get water, another for drinks, food was being dropped off before our drinks arrived. Food was cold, and rushed. The dining room was half full, but the staff was slow, and overwhelmed. Beautiful Hotel, better off having drinks, and food from the light menu in Morressy’s
Service was just okay, drinks were extremely slow. Food was great though!
It is a beautiful atmosphere. The food and the service are uneven. It seemed as if there was only one server on the floor and 2 helpers. The soup was very delicious, our main courses were all just ok. One of our desserts was very good ( hazelnut?) the other just ok. Some of us had the steak. It was accurately cooked but not especially tender and I would not order that there again. I think the salmon dish was better. It took too long for our drinks to arrive, in particular for the beer for one of the guests in our party. Manhattan cocktail was terrific. Our value was good because we were able to get the $35/pp appetizer, main course and dessert that was offered that night.
Sunday brunch in a dining room that was less than half full and yet the service was unforgivably slow. Took entirely too long to get the food out to us. While every menu item was of superior quality, the portions were embarrassingly skimpy for the somewhat high price. (The check came to more than $200 for four of us, and only a couple of us had cocktails. These are NYC prices at Saratoga-level quality.) When I asked if it would be possible to at least have some bread while we were waiting for our food, our sweet but socially awkward and poorly trained waitress looked at me as if I had 3 heads. All in all, an extremely unsatisfying experience. An improperly trained waitstaff, seemingly nonexistent management (especially in the kitchen), and exceedingly subpar portions (these were more like small plates than entrees, at entree prices). I've a feeling the dining room will continue to be half full. There are far superior brunching experiences in Saratoga. It's a shame, because the dining room, and the entire, refurbished Adelphi hotel, are breathtakingly beautiful, and deserve and require excellence. This is hardly excellence. Give this one a skip till they start taking their business and their patrons more seriously.
The Blue Hen provides outstanding cuisine in a lovely dining room with excellent service and a terrific wine list. Everything was cooked to perfection with all the finishing touches you expect at better restaurants. If you want a nice meal that includes interesting food and excellent wine in Saratoga Springs then you cannot go wrong at the Blue Hen.
Lovely omelette, attentive service, and surprisingly quiet for a Sunday.
The service was very good. Our waiter was very discreetly attentive, and very professional. The ambiance is lovely - the restaurant itself is stunning, and very romantic. We love David Burke's restaurants, but I must say that both my husband and I were disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered the pastrami seasoned salmon - a very unique idea. It had a good (if strong) flavor, however, my husband ordered it medium rare and it came out completely overdone and dried out. In order to not let my dinner get cold (it wasn't much more than lukewarm to begin with), he proceeded to eat his meal. Our waiter didn't come to check on us until we were halfway through the meal, at which point he did graciously offer to fire my husband up a new filet, but we didn't take him up on it, as he had already eaten half of the dish, and I would have been finished by the time the new meal arrived. It was my husband's birthday, and I felt terrible that his meal was disappointing.
I had the scallops and pork belly and it was underwhelming. There wasn't much of a sear on the scallops and the accompanying components of the dish were just ok.
The restaurant did comp a dessert.
If the restaurant itself wasn't so lovely and the service had not been of such high quality I would not recommend it at this time.
very good in a lot of ways but verrrry pricey. I would return on special occasions
Food is good! Not a family style restaurant, so don't expect a lot of food, but it is done well.
Amazing restaurant located in a gorgeous boutique hotel in downtown Saratoga Springs. The food was great, the service was incredible, and it made for a wonderful place to spend the holidays. We will definitely be staying at the hotel on one of our next visits to Saratoga as well as looking forward to dining here again :)
Love the ambience and the staff. Would try another dining experience but felt something was off if being honest. Both ordered the Turkey Ballotine and were not impressed. Want a tip, don't skimp when it comes to extras such as gravy and cranberry sauce.
The Blue Hen is overrated. Thanksgiving dinner maine course was piled on our plate which made it very un appetizing.
Hello and goodbye to the Blue Hen. Never again!
Wonderful atmosphere and food!
this place is beyond my expect.
Food was amazing! All that we ordered had different flavors and beautiful presentations. Service was very professional and prompt. The ambiance was perfect for an anniversary dinner.
We had dinner the last night of restaurant week. The menu was very creative and we'll executed. Our waiter made an obligatory check on us, but generally was disinterested in interaction.
Spent our 3rd year anniversary at Blue Hen because I love everything David Burke and this restaurant was keeping up with all of my expectations!
Located inside the beautiful The Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs, this place couldn't have been more perfect! Can't wait to go back!
Tried Blue Hen and was pleasantly surprised. Excellent food, service and ambiance!
The waitperson Michael was excellent! He made our dinner experience exceptional!
The food was exceptional and so was the service! It’s also beautiful inside this restaurant.
Plate was cold and dish was luke warm. Portions were uneven for the same dish.
It would be because it was during the restaurant week.
But it is a nice place.
Very good food and nice selection. Don’t be in a hurry if you eat here. Long waits between courses.
This was our second dining experience at the Blue Hen. The food was good both times. We really like the ambience. On a cold, blustery day, you can dine at the Blue Hen and feel like your in a summer garden. We were especially fond of our waiter this time, Benny. He is very good at his job and quite funny and charming.
Not great food place is beautiful worth a look
The food was excellent. The service started a bit slow because there was an unexpectedly large group, but it picked up and in the end was quite good. A beautiful location.
My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary and dessert was on the house. We stayed at the Adelphi. I would highly recommend it and the Blue Hen.
We waited almost 15 minutes for our reservation after everyone else with a reservation at the same time was seated. It took a long time to get water. We waited a long time for our food. Eggs were overcooked and we could not get anyone's attention for about five minutes. We flagged our server to order coffee. He did not come back for several minutes and when he returned, he came with a check, no dessert menu. We then ordered coffee and the check. We are generous tippers normally. We tipped a minimal amount and we would not return.
