The Blue Hen
drinks were sooooooo good, but the food was amazing! wonderful blends of different kinds of foods. all put together to melt in your mouth.
I enjoyed the small plates; some innovative combinations.
A wonderful dining experience.
A great place for a laid back dinner at the beach, or a special occasion. The food is consistently outstanding and the service is always prompt and warm, without being overbearing.
Food was good but overpriced.
Always a perfect meal at the Blue Hen. It’s 1 of my favorite restaurants
They do not disclose on Open Table that only Brunch is served on Saturday. Very disappointed.
Wonderful meal with great service and our date night could not have been better.
Had a great time. Great service, a wine list that was full of exciting varietals, and the food was delicious. Everything that we ordered for the evening was spot on, especially the octopus. You have to try it.
Good food, but it would have been nice if someone refilled our empty coffee mugs at brunch
The meal and service were outstanding. It was quiet for us in the space, but it was a winter Monday night and probably during the summer season, noisier. Bar area and restaurant space were separate. Again, food and service outstanding.
Awesome experience. Top notch food, wine and service.
Awesome food, the waiter couldn’t have been nicer!
Excellent food. Excellent service
Would be great in nice weather to go outside and sit by fire with a drink!!
First and foremost we went on St. Valentine's day. Many restaurants will gouge their clients on this night. Not the Blue Hen! The regular menu and some specials was just right. Great wine list. Filet mignon was one of best I had. Definitely will return.
Very nicely designed and decorated room. Not too big, not noisy Limited menu. Best filet mignon I have every tasted. Large, cooked with a flavorful glaze on top. Wife thought the scallops were just right. Both of us had large portions and couldn't finish them (we're old). Will definitely go again.
This was our first time at Blue Hen and we chose it for Valentines Day dinner. I ordered the chicken and my wife ordered the rabbit. The chicken was not my Mon’s fried chicken but was very good none the less. It was very moist with a crunchy crush and the rabbit was perfectly prepared and delcious (I had a sample).
We ordered the oyster sampler for an appetizer and even though they only offered one kind of oyster, they were very good. Sometimes oysters are soaked in salt water and that can destroy the subtle flavors. All in all, a nice experience and we will return.
Wonderful food and great service
Everything was very good EXCEPT the NOISE. Thank you
Came for sunday brunch. Got the buttermilk pancakes and they were unbelieveable. Huge cakes with a lemon curd and topped with merrange. Wonderful and sinfully delicious. I got the salmon and bagel which came with 2 types fresh made cream cheese and poached and smoked salmon. More than i could do finish
Also added an order of scrapple. Two thick slices. We perfer ours extra crispy so we had them cook it longer and I love the flavors. Just like I got as a kid growing up on the shore. Will be back on my next trip back home.
We came out for my husbands birthday and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. Definitely recommend!
Very noisy. Difficult to have a conversation. Food was good and unique.
Good restaurant right by the beach. The carrot small plate and octopus were both very good. Nice pour for the drinks.
Restaurant was cute and what we got was good, but the menu was a little too adventurous for us.
The food was off the chart amazing. It isn’t super cozy, and it’s a little loud. But overall I liked the atmosphere and will be going back again.
Great food. Had a wonderful meal for NYE. Biscuits and small plates were outstanding.
We had a lovely dinner. I’m a vegetarian and they were happy and prepared to accommodate. Afterward we sat outside by the fire and made friends with complete strangers.
We enjoyed our meal at the Blue Hen, and since we had a late lunch, the small plates were perfect. We also had an amazing bottle of wine recommended by the manager/sommelier. Would definitely visit again.
This place has awesome fried chicken. We were there on Monday Night which is fired chicken night. The coating on the chicken is almost like a tempura coating and seasoned just right. The sides are fantastic as well. The Mac and cheese is very creamy and cheesy without being bland and the collard greens were also very tasty with lots of bacon or ham and with a touch of sweetness. The only thing disappointing to me were the biscuits. I felt they were tough. But my husband loved them. Definitely worth a visit.
Everything we had was exceptional. We started with the deviled eggs which were topped with crab, calamari which was crispy outside and tender inside, and the pork meatballs which were really tasty. Second course included a Caesar salad which was a bit salty but VERY good and the seafood chowder which was very nice. All three of us ordered the fried chicken which had a tempura-like batter and was nicely seasoned. It was served with a nice hot sauce which worked very well with the creamy and cheesy mac and cheese. The collard green has a gentle amount of sweetness to them. We topped it off with vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter ripple ice cream which was very creamy and tasty.
Innovative menu, fun atmosphere near the ocean freindly helpful staff
Food was very good,The Shrimp toast is a must for an appetizer. My wife had the filet and I had the veal chop which was also very good.My only complaint was my waiter, who definitely needs to be retrained.
Have been wanting to try Blue Hen and so glad we finally did. It was fabulous great service, drinks and food.
My husband & I enjoyed several appetizers and drinks. I enjoyed the upscale atmosphere & selections offered, which were unique & very tasty.
