The food was so delicious. We order the Woodward wings bbq and we had the shrimp and grits. And the fried chicken sandwich. Our waiter made us some yummy drinks.
10 minutes late for reservation for 3. Gave away our table and offered small high top for two. Were able to move after 10 minutes.
A night out with Mum, to the symphony. Easy to get the reservation, was seated quickly. Then we sat for over 15 minutes waiting for anyone to come over. Finally, my husband addressed the hosted and waitress standing and chatting. The conversation was that wasn’t her area, but she would come over. She ended up with her area plus ours, so short staffed....slow slow slow service. An apology by a manager would have helped.
Great happy hour menu. Crab cakes are awesome!! Always a great place to hang.
It was our first time at The Block and we are sure to return. The service was great! Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. The food was good and the prices reasonable. We happened to be there during Happy Hour and the prices of drinks and select appetizers was super! We were celebrating the birthday of a friend and we inadvertently left without the card gift she had been given. An employee, rushed out in the freezing cold to return it to us. We didn't have time to properly thank him, but a gesture like that goes miles for customer service! Thank you and we shall return!
Our waitress, Marion, was outstanding. She was very attentive, professional and efficient.
Went to dinner before a Wings game. Service was amazingly provided by Van. We were able to ride the QLINE to the game easily as well.
We truly enjoyed our brunch on Sunday. Food was delicious and we enjoyed our yummy mimosas. Very nice atmosphere with great music. We will be back soon.
"The Block" is AMAZING, so mad that I was unaware of this establishment! I have shared my experience there with all who will listen. My server made me a special Mimosa for my birthday. Thanks so much for the live music and pleasure!
Very friendly staff and customers provide a healthy community ambience. The place is LOUD! I appreciate the location close to Orchestra Hall, and that I can secure a reliable reservation for my friends and me, as we are from various out-of-town locations.
Had the Salmon burger and the Maple Glazed Salmon. Both excellent. Great sear on the burger and the maple flavor excellent on the salmon, not overwhelming. Able to obtain a side salad which was not on the menu for a very reasonable price and the dressings were excellent. Only wish the tables were slightly larger. Group next to us had to jockey plates for their appetizers and main dishes. We had barely enough room for our entrees on our table for 2.
Excellent service. The server was very personable and entertaining! Food and atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend!
It was AWSOME
Very nice ambiance close parking
This restaurant was just the place to walk to after a morning concert! I especially enjoyed being able to reserve a table so we did not have to wait--and also to reserve a standard or high top table. Perfect! The food and drink was excellent! We will definitely go to The Block again after our next concert!
Best happy hour prices on Detroit.
Fun fun fun. Great service
The food, salmon BLT, Brussel sprouts, sweet potato fries, shrimp and grits, all outstanding! The service wonderful, nice and welcoming, efficient. Drinks, well, a little short on the pours, but taken care of, and delicious also! Definitely will be back again!
Great place and staff!!
Sunday before Symphony
The food was goos and the mimosas were a great value.
Great Food Great Service . I had the crab cakes and eggs with the jalapeno grits it was delish
The Brussels sprouts are the best we have ever tasted. The service was amazingly fast and friendly. We will be back soon.
Great spot to grab a casual dinner before going to the DSO. Nice happy hour drink specials. Brussels sprout appetizer was tasty but quite greasy. Main salmon BLT was very good along with the salad... nice option instead of fries. Recommended!😎
I made a reservation at 2:45, not knowing they close at 3pm! Upon arrival, I was told I had to order before 3pm. My friends were running late and they got there at 2:56 and the doors were locked! The restaurant was nice enough to let them in. The waitress was pleasant, but the entire experience felt rushed! We also weren’t offered anything to drink. I hadn’t seen my friends in a while and didn’t feel like I got to catch up with them in enough time. The food was good though!
This restaurant needs to stop taking reservations at 2pm or this app needs to alert the person if they close at 3pm. It had me under a different impression by letting me reserve a table at 2:45.
Van was an excellent waiter, taking care of everything. I look forward to my next visit.
The salmon burger was great! Great service with a friendly staff. I will be back.
As always, we had a wonderful time at lunch. We were greeted warmly by the hostess; our server, Marion was great--she seemed happy to see us; we were checked on often to see if we needed anything. I look forward to our lunches here after the DSO.
Everything was wonderful. Looking forward to next visit. Usual visit after morning concert at DSO.
We were looking for a convenient place to eat before going to the DSO and this place fit the bill. The menu is not large but offers many tempting options and the food was good. Service was good. It is not a large restaurant and it was very loud during the rush when all tables were full. High tops have stools with no backs which may be an issue for some. Would eat there again.
Loved coming during Happy Hour! Beers for $1 and wine for $3. Had Brussels sprouts and fried pickles for appetizers and both were delicious. The service was efficient and not too obtrusive. Great location downtown to stop before Wings game. Also had a burger and fried chicken sandwich. Both were very good. Prices (even if it hadn’t been Happy Hour) we’re reasonable. A nice, quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. It was a quiet Saturday night. Our server was very prompt and sweet. She made great recommendations. I will definitely be visiting again.
All the food ordered was great. The atmosphere was a little slower than expected (for a Thursday evening), but given the holiday season, possibly different on another week. I would definitely make a return trip when in Midtown again.
I really enjoyed every bit of the experience. Food, music, service...A+. I felt very much at home.
Again, we had a great lunch after the symphony. The atmosphere was festive, with tasteful Christmas decorations. L.Michelle was an excellent waitress. She was welcoming and she took very good care of us.
The food was great. And to top it off, the conductor from the concert we just heard was there.
The food and drinks were great! And Cecily was a very great waitress!
Our group was treated well overall. The food was great! Unfortunately, one of our co-workers did not receive his food (which was ordered with the group) until after everyone had completed their meal. The server indicated somehow his order got lost. We were all on one bill, so how that happened is a mystery. We ended up staying longer to wait for him to finish his meal. The wait staff did not offer any discount for the very unfortunate mishap.
The food was beyond delicious! Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it took forever to get our drinks every time we ordered.
I really appreciated the attempt at good service, but it still missed the mark for me. The Block is in a great location especially if you’re seeing a show at the DSO as we were tonight. I was in a party of 2, we didn’t order anything elaborate by any means and we were literally the last party to get served in the entire place despite getting there well before many other tables. We were there for 1.5 hours. They did recognize and brought over a free drink which was appreciated but we were late for the show. The food was very good and ambiance is trendy/cool. I’d go there again, but not when I’m on a time crunch.
Marian was an absolute joy and very informative!!!!
Overall it was a good experience. We split a burger and winter salad, both were good. Service was good and food and drinks were brought out promptly. We were seated promptly although the high top tables are a little small with no-back stools so some may find that type of seating uncomfortable but there are regular tables and chairs available. It is not the biggest place so I would recommend making reservations.
