Came here with my husband & (2) teenage kids. Entire staff was friendly helpful and professional. Our server, Tracy, was wonderful. The food was great. Wonderful, festive ambiance. We had a terrific time together as a family. We will definitely be back!
Food and service were very good. German chocolate cupcakes were divine!
Excellent food! My servers, Sharday (sp) and Tracy, were attentive and a joy to meet.
Food and service were excellent! We will absolutely be back!
Everything was perfect! The loaded short rib fries had me asking if short rib was available as an entree. My wife & I ordered the Smokehouse Burger & a Salmon Blt to share as we always do when we try new places & both were incredible! 5stars
Too noisy and slow service. Food was good. Convenient to DSO
Drinks were phenomenal. Brussel sprouts app very good. Stuffed chicken was ok. Skin was not crispy. Greens were way way too salty. Strawberry short cake was very good.
The food was extremely good and the shrimp appetizer ordered was excellent. We had a great server who was very professional. We were seated immediately and did not have to wait long for our order. This was my third visit and I’m telling everyone how amazing it s.
Great service!!! First food choice was not to my liking but the server switched it without a problem. Second choice was excellent!!!
Greeted at the door. Pushing reservation time for table of 6 @ 6:30. Manager was quick to bus & set up table. Water & drink order.
I had the Portabella Burger on Crandberry Nut Bread w Sweet Potato Fries. Everyone enjoyed their meal & great service.
Enough time to walk to DSO for 8:00 performance. Have already recommended to friends, we will return.
Great service and the food is delicious! Great start to an evening with the DSO!
I absolutely love this restaurant and don’t get to visit as often as I like. The menu changes and always has delicious options and everything that I had the pleasure of trying was delicious. The service was great for a busy night and my friend and I more than enjoyed ourselves!
The food and beverages were delicious, the staff was fantastic, especially the friendly hostess who remembered my name and wished us a good evening as we left.
Came to the Block before a concert at Little Cesar’s Arena. I made a reservation a day or so before through Open Table. When we checked in with the hostess, they did not have our name down for a reservation so we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Not sure what happened between the app and restaurant. But it was frustrating to have to wait when we had a reservation. Once seated, service was good and the value and portion of the food was great. We were there during happy hour. So the four of us got a beer, burger, and fries for a great deal. Vegetarian options for my cousin and aunt. Food was really good. Would recommend friends to come here. Especially during happy hour!
Food was as good as ever and the service is always friendly.
Food and atmosphere were excellent. My only disappointment was I requested a low top table and we were placed at a high top.
In spite of having a reservation, we had to wait one hour. Then another 40 minutes before our food was served. We had to bolt our food to make it to the 8:00 DSO concert.
The menu is quite limited. We will not return to The Block.
Always a great experience when I eat there, i come from Toledo, i always bring someone with me and their always impressed, especially with the taste and portion of the food, also the atmosphere is plseant and safe, parking is convenient, restrooms are clean, well deserved of the 4 or 5 star rating that you carry, keep up the good work.
Food was very flavorful (expect a southern style grease level), service was excellent. Lots of good menu options, recommend the bacon brussels and chicken thighs. Unfortunately when it got busy it was so noisy that I could not hear my date across a small table.
Everything about this place was absolutely fabulous! The food was great the service was wonderful and I appreciate that it's a black owned business ran extremely well. Top notch!
Didn’t love the gypsy flat bread, but otherwise an enjoyable dinner.
The only positive of this experience was the food (besides the fact it took about 45 minutes to get after placing our orders. At one point we were told by our server it would be out in a few seconds, 20 minutes later still nothing....). Ordered the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was tasty.
My friend and I went on a Friday night and it was not packed by any means, plenty of open tables with a good amount of servers staffed. The server communication was poor and our food took way too long to get considering the restaurant was not busy and we ordered fairly simple dishes. I understand the kitchen getting backed up, but at the minimum the server should have stopped by our table more than once to check in and provide an update if it really was that back logged in the kitchen.
I was disappointed because most other reviews were amazing, not sure if they were having an off night or what...
Very underwhelmed by my experience here and will not be returning.
My friends and I enjoyed a late night dinner at the Block for my birthday. The service was great and the staff made us feel special.
Food was great. Server was lots of fun. We had never been here before but were very happy with the experience. We will come again for sure.
Such a nice spot to go with a friend or a boo. The food was so delicious, seasoned to perfection and the service was great! The drinks were tasty as well. I haven’t came across a spinach and artichoke dip so delicious before. I try to come once a week now!
The Block has been our “go to” place since its opening. Food is always good, service excellent, and so conveniently located a block from the DSO!
The food was delicious, service was great. I will definitely go back to the restaurant soon!
I love this place
, I eat here a little more than I care to admit 😍😍😍 the staff treats you like family Everytime
The drinks and food were wonderful. There were four of us and well all enjoyed our meals; grits and shrimp, salmon, gumbo, avocado salad and caprese flatbread.
The service was wonderful, we will be back!
Enjoyed our dinner at The Block! The food was good, especially enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and the three cheese spinach dip ( the chip wedges were great!) Our server Jane was outstanding as was the young man who kept our water glasses filled by being very attentive!
The food was okay, side were good the meat wasn’t all that
We went for restaurant week in Detroit, we did not have the RW menu, we went to the main menu and happy hour. Tremendous, we had the salmon BLT which was delicious, the gumbo was very good, my daughter who is very selective really liked the Block MAC which was an Alfredo version, and I had the shrimp and grits which as a group we thought was the best thing we tried. Great happy hour drinks, where are you going to get a $1, 16 oz beer? Service was very quick, and it was a Friday evening so they were busy! My only suggestion was the kids clearing the plates were a little aggressive trying to keep things clear, but let's make sure the food is done! :)
Go, go, go!
Service was awesome, Traci took great care of us. Food was great too.
Had a nice meal before our concert at little ceasers arena
Great menu. Outstanding hamburgers. Chili among the best. Will return to try other items. Decor could be upped a bit.
Devon, our waitress, was great. She was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Our lunch was very tasty.
As always, we had a wonderful afternoon at The Block. Our cocktails and salmon burgers were fantastic.
The staff there is incredibly welcoming, helpful, efficient and professional. They do make us feel special.
I love great service. The Block has GREAT service. The food was very good. We went for Restaurant Week, and tried two of the three specials, and we were pleased with everything we got. Not “blown away”, but very pleased. They appear to have a great Happy Hour menu, and we’re definitely planning on going back for that. I highly recommend checking out this great addition to Detroit’s new fantastic restaurant scene!
I really enjoyed the entrees at The Block. The shrimp and grits were amazing.
We had brunch and everything was delicious. We started with spinach dip and I highly recommend. I had the shrimp and grits and they were so good. That shrimp was so good to me! 3/5 of us ordered that and the other two had chicken based items (chicken & waffles and their signature wings with potatoes). Tasted everything and it was good. There was a live DJ who wasn’t too loud but the perfect background noise to match how we felt after 2 pitchers of mimosas. The host was very communicative and energetic and our waitress was on it. Never had to ask for anything, she was spot on. For my first time, I can’t wait to go back!
