    Food is very good.Service was efficient.The only downside is that the restaurant is very loud and it was hard to carry on a conversation.Would return but arrive after 8 when it is less crowded.Highly recommend the pasta dishes(Snake Bites and Chesapeake Pasta). .

    1st time ever going to brunch. Took about 30 minutes to get seated even with a reservation. Be prepared for it to be very busy and to circle the lot for a place to park. The brunch however was delicious. We opted for the bottomless mimosas and out waiter kept them coming. I'd definitely go back but not during the rush.

    Our server Jacob was fabulous. Farm to table food delicious. Music level was to loud however after speaking with the manager they did lower the sound level.

    Although the food, service and ambience were delightful, we practically had to scream at each other at the table. The room is very “live” so it is very noisy. The musician who was playing was absorbed into the chaos of sound.

    Everything was fantastic. I removed one star because my friends food had to be sent back and she did not enjoy the replacement meal. My food was wonderful however.

    This is the second time that I have been here and have to wait more than 15 mins to be seated. The 1st time the wait was so long that I didnt want to talk to anyone nothing was compensated and I didnt think the staff unstood where I was coming from. Spent over 1k and and lady kept making excuses. I believe you should be more firm on the way parties stay especially if its longer than allocated time given

    Brunch is outstanding. There is a wide variety of food, salad bar with fruit and desserts.Although brunch is over at 2pm,, they keep the food out until 3pm. Always great service and the ambience is nice.

    I enjoyed the Sunday brunch food SOOOO much my first time there that I went back the very next week! Unfortunately, the food was literally inedible. My original favs were the chessy grits, but upon return they were cold and lumpy (somebody should have been shamed for even bringing those out), the fried chicken was lukewarm and unseasoned (who does that?), the waffles weren't sweet and even the whipped cream was soft and tired. I literally asked our server was there a "new" chef in the kitchen because the food tasted completely different. Upon being seated we were given a table in the ailse with lots of traffic so I asked the manager who happened to pass by if we could move to a booth. He said "No somebody is sitting there" I explained I saw them leave, but he did want to hear it. That table was vacant for another 20 minutes before anybody was seated there. I won't be back.

    Everything we ordered was delicious: Chefs Fresh Catch (Rockfish), the Snake Bite, Watermelon-Basil Mule, and Smith Island Cake. Wait staff was attentive. Only drawback was that seating seemed a bit compact in the room we were in and therefore noise level required talking very loudly in order to be heard by the person across from you. However, we would come back again if in the area.

    Booked a reservation one week in advance and arrived on time at 5:45 pm to the restaurant. The hostess immediately escorted us to the first table located at the door and right near the hostess stand despite many, many, many open tables seemingly available. We requested another table outside the door entryway and she sourly stated “I will see what I can do.” We were then escorted to a table further away from the door, however, that pretty much set the mood for the evening. We arrived during “Happy Hour” and the noise from patrons socializing at the bar was pretty loud but the norm for most restaurant Happy Hours. Our waitress was good, not overly attentive but adequate. We ordered the drinks from the bar which took a long time to arrive. In fact our soups which were good arrived before our drinks. I thought the French Onion Soup was one of the best I’ve had. About ten minutes after placing our entree order I was informed that the kitchen was out of chicken. We thought this was odd given our early dining time but then requested the short ribs entree. Shrimp and Grits were dryer than he liked and my short rib entree was tasty but extremely mushy. Portion size was great and the fresh vegetables were excellently prepared. Baking Powder biscuits were provided with the soup and were quite fluffy although not really warm. House salad was good and served with a vinaigrette that was flavorless but requested and received a different dressing. I don’t recommend the dessert though. Peach Cobbler is peaches poured over biscuits which I also considered very doughy and dry.

    I absolutely enjoy visiting Blackwell Barn. The ambiance is very nice, the food and drinks are very good and affordable. I do have 3 complaints. First, I had a reservation for 6:15 pm (Friday night) and I was not seated until 6:45 pm. I went to question what was going on, and the hostess informed me that people were staying at their tables longer than expected. I did not like this. Second, I reserved a standard table, but received a high table. I did not ask for this, nor did I like it, but I was starving and just took the seat. The high-top tables are very small. You cannot have an appetizer, entree, and drinks on the same table. Third, the noise pollution was INSANE! I could not have a conversation with my son because people were talking so loud!!! I did enjoy meeting and speaking with the outstanding General Manager, Chris Bassett. He was very well-dressed, welcoming, and very pleasant.

    The booking and check-in experience for Sunday Brunch was very difficult and the staff handling both were not very friendly or helpful. Management did step in and was able to accommodate us for my birthday celebration. We had an amazing time once we were seated, we had the best server, and all of the food was delicious. I highly recommend getting a table in the back near the brunch buffet if you have a choice, the ambiance is such a good time back there and they even had live music. Up front was a bit stuffy and uncomfortable, I wouldn’t want to sit up there if I had a choice.

    Incredible servers! My guests and I were so impressed with the restaurant owner and managers. When guests needed to be seated...they did it. When a table needed to be cleared off...they did it. When the "higher-ups" can roll up their sleeves to help out, Blackwall Barn and Lodge, I will be a frequent customer. One this particular evening, my food was extremely salty. That is the only reason for my 4-Star rating. But, everything else was perfect!

    This was our first of hopefully many return visits. Ashley was PHENOMENAL with her service, attention, and information about dining here. Her demeanor was warm and welcoming. Of course, we loved the food and vow to return. Kudos.

    Went with a party of 3 and had a great dinner. I had the chicken and waffles, my 2 guests had the steak. Tender, juicy, and the sauce on the steak was outstanding. This is a great restaurant.

    First off, if you haven’t visited and are considering, go, just go… We both had the specials, scallops and shrimp with risotto and asparagus and the fried veal special with potatoes and asparagus. Both were excellent but they weren’t what made the experience phenomenal. BRONTE!!!! Bronte was our server and she was perfection!! She was busy, had several tables and seemed to be everywhere, all at once but with grace and poise. Her smile lights up the place and her genuine care makes you feel like you’re visiting a 3-star Michelin restaurant. Food was outstanding, ambiance is welcoming and comfortable but Bronte made the entire experience unforgettable.
