We really enjoyed brunch at the Blsckbird. We even liked the coffee so much that we went across the street and bought the beans! Great service and food. Highly recommended.
Small Sunday morning brunch crowd. Excellent service, good food. Would go back.
The service was fantastic - very friendly and perfectly attentive.
My huevos rancheros were beautifully presented and richly flavored.
Loved the French pressed coffee from Dynamite Roasting.
We chose to dine at The Blackbird after some online research and picture-stalking of hot dining spots in downtown Asheville. The food photos looked excellent and the actual food lived up to the hype! We had the chef's tasting menu, and I cannot say I've ever had a MORE FRESH meal. Every dish was unique, well portioned and delicious - and for a $45 price tag - a GREAT value.
Really great food! Good wine list too.
Pleasant atmosphere in nice location in downtown Asheville. Good variety of choices using local vendors. Accommodates couples and larger groups. Tasty, fresh food.
Blackbird was nice for lunch; we really enjoyed our Cobb salads & fresh bread. There's not much ambience; it's rather austere inside. Lots of windows to people watch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Blackbird. The food was excellent and portion were just right.
Got together with my best friend after a long time...couldn't wait to take her to the Black Bird for a nice lunch. Both of our meals were excellent, accompanied by a delicious bloody mary. We sat by the expansive windows, so people watching was also a lot of fun. Highly recommend!
Very good, service was attentive and knowledgeable. Accommodated special requests and allowed for a great anniversary dinner with the wife.
We loved the Blackbird! The grits were AMAZING! We really enjoyed our meal and experience. The only downside was our table location. We made a reservation and were seated in the back corner behind the server station. Not the best place for a table. Otherwise everything was awesome!
The food was more than fabulous! Went with friends for my birthday and the coconut cake was the best I have ever eaten! I can’t wait to go back! Our server Joe was amazing! Eating here is a must when in Asheville.
Excellent food, from the appetizer to the original main entrees. Great service and good wine and beer selection. We will come back soon.
Phenomenal service and great food. Would come again. Went there for my friends bachelorette brunch and the entire staff was great and made her feel special.
Took my family on my daughter's last day of Spring break before she headed back to college, a Friday. The Blackbird is more appropriate for adults than young people. If we go back I will go with my wife on a date. The restaurant is in downtown Asheville, nicely decorated and quiet. The food was good, although not amazing. I enjoyed the lamb and brussel sprouts. My younger daughter was not impressed with her chicken, but it looked good to me. Its fairly pricy. There are many gluten free dishes.
Great service and food was amazing?!
Food was good, but a little salty. The Rosemary Baby cocktail was excellent. The service was prompt and the server was friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to friends.
Crawfish sliders and Zuppe di Pesche were both delicious. Lots of crawfish on crispy toast and the Zuppe was just spicy enough.
A casual atmosphere with attentive service and wonderful food. An Asheville gem.
We noticed The Blackbird’s reviews on some other sites wasn’t as high as others, but we were really intrigued by the menu. We came in for that reason and were not disappointed. My husband and I had the Brussels app and two seafood dishes. You can find Brussels on just about any menu, but they were prepared differently than we’ve experienced at other restaurants. Two thumbs up for that and our entrees were fantastic . Really the whole experience was great. If you want something different than what other areas restaurants are serving with great flavors and service, you really need to check out The Blackbird.
Were out of town visitors, and we enjoyed a great Sunday brunch. Each plate of food at our table was enjoyed. The french press coffee for two was really good. We would return for another visit.
We went for a special occasion, and every thing was delicious! Service was wonderful, too. Highly recommend. Will not disappoint.
Our server was truly wonderful, leaving us a nice long time to talk and visit. She made helpful suggestions but did not push the priciest entrees. I enjoyed the vegetarian options and thought the kale Caesar salad was outstanding. We had the chocolate mousse dessert covered in chocolate, and I could recommend that as well! We were sitting near a table of eight, and they had gotten very loud, which made our dining experience a bit annoying.
Great place for dinner! The food was fabulous and it was hard to decide what to order because the choices all sounded amazing. The staff was very professional and the chef came around to make sure everything was good.
Outstanding! We have been here several times but dinner this evening was superb! The restaurant is located in a hotel but is locally owned and managed. Food is locally sourced (as possible) and the menu is varied and changes regularly. My wife had a seafood (fish) risotto which she raved about. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and the risotto was delicious. My Zuppa de Pesce (Mussels, scallops, fish, shrimp, etc.) was excellent (not particularly soupy which I prefer). It had quite a bite to the spicy seasoning. A red pepper and tomato soup perfectly complimented the entree. Certainly one of the best meals we have had in Asheville.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Blackbird. The staff was great and the environment enjoyable. The chef was able to prepare a wonderful meal that accommodated my husband’s food allergies. And the desserts were amazing.
Very nice menu and good portions. Great wine selection (but I am by no means a wine sophisticate). A little noisy and it was a Sunday night without a full house. Wait server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Love the location with nearby parking. One of our favorite downtown restaurants. Wish the Airport coupon book included dinner there, not just lunch.
The atmosphere and ambience of The Blackbird was exceptional and the service was amazing. Michael was attentive and professional. My fiancé really enjoyed his trout. My chicken dish was a tad bland but the presentation was wonderful. We had a window booth that allowed an interesting eclectic view of the passers by. I'd definitely go back.
We had an outstanding experience to celebrate our 13 year anniversary. We had the cheese tray, scallop appetizer, kale Caesar salad, fresh catch and scallop entree, coconut cake. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! The service was the perfect compliment to the food. Our server was very attentive and perfectly timed each of courses. I will eat here every time I am in Asheville. The restaurant isn’t the quietest as it is in downtown Asheville and has a neat large screened opening on the front of the building. However, all things considered, this meal is among my top experiences. You should book here, you’ll be happy that you did!
The Bloody Mary is everything. And the grits. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend and will definitely be a goto when I visit Asheville.
Good food and service. Nice touch that the chef made the rounds.
this was my first time here after wanting to go for so many months - it was so worth the wait and I'm glad we stuck with it to get a reservation. The service was so good - friendly, not pushy but very attentive. The food surpassed our expectations. Four different meals - I got the Wellington, a vegetarian version of the traditional beef. So, so good! My friend got the warm roasted fall salad - ridiculously good and healthy. My son got the filet trio (meat eater!) - loved it and his girlfriend got the goat cheese corn pie and ate every bit! The ultimate was the coconut cake - their specialty. What a delight. PS - they also make a perfect gin gimlet! Yea!!
Service very good, food sub par. Price was reasonable but considering the quality and preparedness of the food, it's not a place I have to return to. Especially considering all the excellent choices in Asheville!
All people in our party loved their food. There were, six different dishes ordered by our group. Just loved everything about if.
The food was absolutely amazing. The spices and sauces used for the dishes were paired exquisitely with the dishes. There were flavors that I'd never tasted before and every bite was treasured. We're absolutely in love with the chef at this place and will definitely be coming back again.
Everything was incredible! Our server, Mike really was on his game and did great making us feel special. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, and the staff was kind enough to sign a birthday card, which Mike delivered to the table. We also recently found out we are expecting, so Mike suggested a “mocktail” for me to be able to still celebrate. My husband requested a special cocktail he calls the Gold Rush as well. Both drinks were made perfectly. The food was delicious as well! He had the seafood plate and I had the Bolognese, followed by the s’mores dessert. The chef even came out to see how eveything was and to congratulate us on our news of expecting. Love the Blackbird! We will be back!
Best scallops in town! Melissa our server was amazing and the chef was great to chat with!
This was for our 26th wedding anniversary. The waitress was very sweet and brought us a dessert on the house for the occasion.
The food was very good and very fresh and flavorful.
Chicken was overcooked, meat and cheese plates were spot on. Overall decent date spot
We opted for a special that allowed the chef chose 6 plates and three paired wine selections. For the most part it was wonderful. The salad selections (the first three plates were a bit heavy in brussel sprouts which were quite good but on Valentines it made for a windy night. Granted we should have taken charge of the meal selection process. It seemed surprising and fun and it was.
