The Blackbird Ratings and Reviews
The food, staff, and cocktails were all great, and on par with the price. The chef was present and attentive, and everything concerning the meal was on point. My only complaint was that it was really loud the night that we went (it was a Saturday night).
We were in the back left near a rounded wall, so it’s possible that we were in a bad location acoustically, but the din made it kind of hard to focus on conversation.
Would definitely recommend for a bar chat or group, but if you’re going for a date, maybe aim for the early evening before the night crowd gets in.
Our original dinner plans for nye’s were cancelled by the restaurant due to bad weather.Staying 45 mins away with two hungry kids. We quickly booked a table and arrived earlier than reserved we were seated right away and we all agreed a blessing. Every bite we took was better than the first. Definitely coming back for more!
This was Christmas Eve and a special time for our family so the excessive noise was understandable but dissapointing. The food was wonderful but the wait was too long.. again this was Christmas Eve and they were so busy. Prices were high but in line with comparable restaurants. It was the perfect location allowing us to walk to and from our evening destination.
My fiancé and I went to The Blackbird for Christmas Eve brunch. We ordered an omelet and the farm breakfast (pictured). The portions were just right and our meals were cooked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh (the fresh squeezed OJ was delicious!) and our server was very pleasant. Our only complaint was the coffee - it was weaker and more bland than we expected coming from a french press. This certainly won't keep us from coming back again though. Overall we had a great experience.
This restaurant is located in the aloft hotel. At street level, it offers large windows so you can enjoy watching people stroll past. A nice “downtown” ambience! We had reservations and were seated immediately. The menu is rather limited but had some unique offerings such as Corn & Goat Cheese Pie (vegetarian entree). This item sounded better than it was, as when it arrived, it was burnt and somewhat flavorless. I did not send it back as this was a family celebration and just didn’t want to create any disruption at the table. Our server was very nice but seemed inexperienced. I might give this restaurant a 2nd chance the next time I’m in town, but there are so many great optoms to choose from - maybe not.
The reviews were significantly better than the experience. The food was awful, over priced and all around disappointing.
The service was a joke. We had a reservation for 7 and were ask no less than 4 times ‘how many were in our party’ but the same hostess. She even tried to take away a chair, when we were all about to sit down. It was like she had a head cold.
With so many good food options in Asheville, Blackbird should not be one of them.
Great spot in the middle of downtown Asheville. Everything was delicious. The beef tenderloin was the most flavorful and most perfectly cooked steak I’ve had in years!!
I will definitely visit again and have already raved about it to friends and family.
Great service and view. The chief also came out to check on us which was a nice touch but the food just didn't do it for me. I love to try unique food, which is risky. This time I ended up hungry. I think my entree would have worked better as a side dish than a main dish (I had the corn pie).
We had not been in several years, but wanted to go to a performance nearby that night and decided to go to Blackbird. Excellent! Loved sitting at the little corner table and watch all the happy people walk by. Service excellent. Delicious meal. And, very important to us, the noise level was relatively low - no pumping loud music. Moderate level of conversation is much better than overpowering music. Will definitely be back. Plus! The head chef (and owner?) came by to speak to us about our experience. Lovely.
My husband and I are here while celebrating our anniversary in Asheville. I thought the drinks were a bit overpriced. Good but overpriced. We both got the pork tenderloin and it was absolutely perfect! I would highly recommend! We had a seat by the window and had great people watching. The atmosphere was nice. I did feel like the restaurant was a bit cramped so I wouldn't go here with more than 4 people. Overall we really enjoyed our experience!
The Blackbird restaurant is located in the heart if downtown Asheville. We had reservations, and was seated by the window, street side, as requested very promptly. The wait staff was polite and checked on us often after being seated. The menu was quite limited and pricy for the selections listed. The food was served warm, and vegetables were overcooked and tough. The pork chop selection was had a wonderfully smoky flavor and was served with a sweet potato mash and brussel sprouts. If the two dishes we ordered, this was by far the best selection. The chicken Dish was tender but lacked flavor. Side vegetables were dry and tasteless. The chef did offer to bring out additional vegetables. Overall, there are much better restaurants in Asheville to choose from but better menu selections, flavor, and ambience.
