Lee was fantastic! He recommended the coursed tasting menu and we had an amazing dinner with well-paired wine. It was just what we needed for NYE dinner. Thank you, Lee!
We dined here on New Years Eve and we were less than satisfied. First of all, if you’re looking for somewhere with good service, find elsewhere. The service was truly terrible. In addition, none of the servers were friendly. The food was mediocre at best, but the bad service made it worse. Overall, not a great experience but the food was okay.
The food was great, the drinks were great, the server seemed a bit distracted - but otherwise the experience was very pleasant. Would definitely come back.
Food and wine were excellent, price was a little high for total value of food.
The entire front of house staff had masks on and we appreciated this. There were air filtration/purification systems in sight, but they weren’t on the highest setting. My partner has the same exact system at their workplace and noticed it was not on the proper setting to work adequately. The most unfortunate part was that we were able to see that the entire kitchen staff did not have masks on. This was unsettling, as we realized this at the end of our meal. The kitchen staff was arguing and yelling during our meal. You would hear yelling and then the same waiter would storm out of the kitchen. We did not feel at ease or safe and would not return during covid. The food was good and the decor was lovely. Hopefully post pandemic we will return, but definitely not in the near future.
Pleasant dinner with good service. Food was a "C".
Food was great, waiter was a bit rushed. Drinks were great.
Thank you so much!!
The Blackbird offered up great farm-to-table options. The Fruits of the Sea starter was incredible, the white wine butter sauce could be served on its own. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees and the desserts were fantastic. Definitely try the Banana Rum Pudding and Vegan Chocolate Cake.
Thank you so much!! We love our farmers!!
We were looking for lunch that was NOT “chain restaurant” food. So glad we found Blackbird. Pastrami sandwich was perfect. Jambalaya could have been delivered straight from New Orleans and the potpie was delicious. We had a dog with us and the wait staff very kindly set up a table outside for us even though that was not something they had planned for on the day we visited. They made a special cocktail also - cranberry whiskey sour. Excellent! Service was a wee bit slow from the kitchen but well worth the wait
Thank you so much!!
Great food but a little on the cold side. Great staff but seemed to be very understaffed and it took a long time. We’d return post covid for sure.
Thank you.
Service was great as well as the food. I an find at least four vegan dishes to choose from as well as modifying an item from the menu. Black bean croquettes were delish. Definitely returning when we visit the Biltmore Estate again.
Thank you so much!!
Our table was cramped for our party size, it wasn’t busy yet took 50 minutes to get our food, our server was not attentive and did not acknowledge our wait time, my food was cold and mediocre. Ambience was not great and I will not be back.
I went for my birthday, I love farm to table, fresh, organic food; they were nothing short of absolutely amazing! I had the bone in chop with collards and sweet potatoes. I hate collard greens but I ate those and asked how they were prepared. I found out they are grown AND prepared/seasoned by the bar tender, who was also very into farm fresh foods, of course. We should just do food the way it’s supposed to be done, ok? Ok. And The Blackbird “gets it”
I had the full market meats board for a starter and the flavor combinations on the board are spot on!
I tried my friend’s 4-day aged ribeye and it was also tender perfection great flavor and the veggies were crisp and delicious paired with it.
I had the vegan chocolate cake for dessert and could not have been more impressed. I often bake vegan for myself and it’s no easy task to keep the cake goods moist! They did an awesome job.
I had the coffee liquor (with Jameson) for a drink and the California cab called Marietta, both, as one might have guessed, absolutely perfect.
Thank you so much!!
Black bean cakes and pork chop entree were a hit! We loved the entire meal and service.
Thank you so much!!
My husband and I went here for Christmas Eve. While the food was fine, I was disappointed. Our waiter was just so-so but what really bothered me was that while we were enjoying the salad we ordered...our main course was brought to the table. We were so surprised. We felt like they were rushing us out. We were out of the restaurant in less than 60 minutes......not what we expected for Christmas Eve. Food was fine and delicious but the experience was average.
Went to Blackbird for lunch on Christmas Eve with my parents. Nice lunch, everyone enjoyed their meals.
Thank you so much!!
Food was Outstanding! I had the chef's food pairing and it was the best meal I have had in years. I was so glad we chose to support Blackbird. We need to keep excellent restaurants like this one in business! Will definitely be back.
Thank you so much!!
Delicious food & yummy cocktails but the service was slow. I was glad for great company!
Thank you so much!!
The Blackbird is an outstanding restaurant with great service and outstanding food with a wide variety of everything from steak to full vegan dishes. Our waiter Rama is the best of the best. His knowledge of wines and pairings were right on, this is our second time in 4 weeks! Don’t miss it.
Want to eat inside again? Creative menu, make their own bread which is very special, they get service right and service follows up professionally. Lunch and dinner are treats and we were just there with friends Tuesday. Other sit down locations were closed or booked up. You can sit outside on a nice day, we chose the warmer in-doors.
Chef has a great background, really worth looking into if you haven't dropped in.
Thank you so much!!
Extremely disappointed by the food & service
Ordered the fried chicken ramen and was so disappointed that it was not specified the noodles were spaghetti squash. The chicken was on the side and the dish was just a disaster. The seafood pirlau was also disappointing as the “broth” tasted like pasta sauce. Left and ordered takeout.
Food was good but nothing remarkable. Steak was average. Charcuterie board was good but very plain Jane. For $20 not much to offer for getting both meat and cheese board. Server rarely checked on us, she might have been having an off day. Fiancé spilled her drink by accident. Server didn’t help and didn’t ask if she wanted another drink. She didn’t ask how the food was until we were almost done. Along with the alcoholic beverages we had water and she didn’t bother refilling or asking if we wanted more until our cups were completely empty. Expected a little better service for a $150+ meal for two.
Excellent food.
Thank you so much!!
Steak was not cooked to desired temp and was not the type of filet I had in mind. It was tough and chewy. Instead of offering me a different dish or to comp it they offered me a dessert.
Our server, Penelope, was great. Our food was not so much. I ordered the pork chop. It was thin, pan seared, and only about 8-9 bites of food compared to the same pork chop I ordered there a year ago. It was thicker, grill marks, and definitely well worth the entree price. My husbands tenderloin medallions were tough. The banana rum pudding was a grainy mess: I think the pudding was mixed with a cake. It was done well ahead of time and the result was a gluey texture that was not appetizing. This was a dinner for my husbands 60th birthday, and as we we’re walking back to our hotel he told me that we really didn’t need to include Blackbird on our rotation of restaurants the next time we went to Asheville. It could have been an off night or an unfortunate consequence of covid, but I don’t feel we got the best of this restaurant that night.
Thank you.
Service was excellent as was the food. They kept proper social distancing and all staff wore masks.
Thank you so much!!
We went to The Blackbird for brunch. Started with fantastic Bloody Mary’s. I had an omelette and my husband had the standard breakfast - eggs, meat, etc. Both meals came with a biscuit that was perfect and the grits were delicious.
Thank you so much!!
It was very pleasant, but the music was a little intrusive.
Thank you so much!!
Delicious food. It took a little coaxing at first to get information about the chefs tasting menu from our server, but then she got the hang of it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you so much!!
This was my second visit. Both visits we were seated promptly. The wait staff was courteous, the food was very good. We were a little disappointed in the cheesecake for dessert. While it was good, it was not what we would consider a cheesecake.
Thank you so much!!
Great service, great food!! Been going to this restaurant for years and they never dissapoint.
Excellent food and service!
Thank you so much!!
The cheese and meat board was great as was the salad recommendation. Our service was excellent. The lamb dish was disappointing simply because I am not a fan of Mediterranean flavors.
Thank you so much!!
Jill was our server and wonderfully colorful. I have eaten there more that most people in AVL & only Sunday did I try you Steak & Eggs. OMG. I will henceforth order than every single brunch. I love the food at this place and their coconut cake is not to be missed!
Thank you so much!!
We went to the Blackbird for Sunday brunch, and it was a great experience. The food was delicious (beignets, mimosas, steak and eggs and the bbq eggs Benedict). It was definitely a high point of our trip to Asheville. and I highly recommend it.
Thank you so much!!
Great food and good service. One of our favorite restaurants in Asheville.
Thank you so much!!
1.5hr wait for food, we were 1st in at 5:00pm open. Put into corner, forgot about. Service was unexpectedly poor for a high end restaurant. No comp offered for service delay. Food was terrific, however not worth poor service if you want nice dining experience. I will not return.
Food was good, menu selection a little limited. Staff was attentive, professional and courteous. Really appreciated the hostess who proudly displayed the dragonfly between her breasts. Overall a pleasant experience and would definitely go back again. Thanks.
Thank you so much!! We do love tattoos.
