Food and service the best. Everyone loved their dinner and we even ordered dessert - which was spectacular
Our hotel recommended this restaurant due to it being located in a sister property and it was a disappointment. The food was not good and not near the quality of many other restaurants in Asheville. The biggest plus was the service but do not go here for the food.
Hello It's unfortunate that you did not enjoy the food, we work extremely hard to get excellent ingredients and make great food. Sometimes mistakes are made. I hope you said something when you were in the restaurant so we could have fixed it. If not I would love to hear more about what you had and what was wrong with the dish.
Very , very loud.
Hello it's unfortunate that you thought the restaurant was too loud, as we can not control all of our guest level of talking, we have put up as many sound dampening panels as we can. can i ask if there was anything else that prompted this 2 star review besides the nose level. If so please let us know.
Delightful dinner at The Blackbird. Talented team from bar to kitchen. Menu was nicely focused and had some interesting twists on classic fare. Our waiter, Mark, was professional and friendly and attentive without being invasive. His menu recommendations were spot on, too.
Spiced pecans were debut way over chopped. On ice cream they would have been terrific. Pork rinds were innovative and delicious. Heritage pork was nicely grilled and the mustard cream sauce perfect. NC take on shepherds pie equally good.
The Blackbird also had interesting cocktails (tequila Negroni was fabulous) and a good wine selection.
On our next trip to Asheville we will absolutely come back to the Blackbird.
Thank you so much.
The food at The Blackbird was top notch! Our server Paige was extremely attentive, helpful and very friendly! Highly recommend this place for dinner!!
Thank you, we love Paige and we are so happy you loved the food. We work extremely hard to get excellent ingredients and make great food and its so nice when people appreciate it.
Food was excellent, portions were larger than we expected.
Good service. Nice wine list! Lots of options for non-meat eaters. Food was very good.
Sunday Brunch at Black Bird is delicious and a good value for all the food that they serve.
Had brunch with daughter and son-in-law. Our server was very friendly and the food was excellent. Husband ordered mushroom omelette said it was the best omelette he has ever had. I ordered French toast it was delicious. I highly recommend.
Excellent experience. The food was remarkable and the service was prompt. A fine time was had by all.
Blackbird never disappoints. It is one of our favorite restaurants — in Asheville or anywhere. It offers excellent steaks and seafood, as well as more vegetarian entrees than all but the solely vegetarian/vegan restaurants in town.
There were four of us at our table. We started with the artisan cheese board and Thai green beans, both excellent. For entrees, steak, seafood risotto, goat cheese corn pie, and vegetable Wellington. All were first rate. For dessert, tiramisu and a berry crisp. Outstanding!
Service was attentive and helpful. Altogether, it was a great meal in a comfortable but minimalist elegant space. If you haven’t tried The Blackbird, move it to the top of your list.
We did the six course tasting menu for $48. It was good and a good value for the amount of food.
Last night in town. Great choice!
I eat at this restaurant every time I come to Asheville. This time although the food was good it was not as good as in prior visits. The appetizers (Thai string beans and cheese board) were average. The pork chop and pecan pie dessert were 5 star. Everything else was too heavy and the cheese and butter dulled the flavors. The berry crisp was just a bunch of liquified berries with ice cream. That was disappointing.
In a town that is difficult to get any reservation these days we were lucky to come across Blackbird. Had brunch and everything was wonderful. Recommend the pulled pork eggs benedict.
Cute little place, smaller menu but decent food. Great wine selection and service.
We made an advance reservation for lunch after seeing their recognition in Wine Spectator.
Food was excellent! Duck Banh mi and Mushroom Melt. Excellent.
I would say, a bit on the slow side for food coming out of the kitchen. Nearly 30 minutes from order to service in a half full restaurant after ordering the “chef’s favorites”.
Go enjoy the food! But, don’t plan on a quick lunch.
Dinner (ribeye steak with whipped mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and asparagus) was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth the price by far. Hubby had goat cheese corn pie which he said was just OK. I had seared scallops for my starter, also excellent.
They were out of two bottles of wine that we wanted and service was a little slow at first but personable nonetheless. We loved our smoked trout salad and tomato soup but we wouldn’t order the olives again… seemed like they came from a jar.
Vacation from Florida, last night in Asheville. We loved the wine, and food was excellent:-)
The quality of the meal was not as I remembered and the ambience was rather frenetic. Perhaps they are catering to speed of turnover.
Fantastic meal, the pancakes and biscuits are not to be missed! And the service was quick and super friendly!
Excellent food. Everything they brought to the table was delicious.
Great service and food!
We were rushed since we were the last seating - didn’t feel great.
The tasting menu was a delight. The preparation was creative and tasty.
It was good but just good. Service was slow. Restaurant lighting is awkward.
Food was excellent! Our server Madi was great!
My husband and I did the chef's tasting menu with the wine accompaniment, and it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The presentation was lovely, the dishes, unique and delicious. Maddie was our server, and she was well-versed in the wines, and described the food perfectly. She was also extremely pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely recommend The Blackbird.
Good food and service
Brunch was perfect. I made reservations because downtown Asheville can be hit or miss, it seemed nicer to have them. I got a text and confirmed, found easy parking in the lot attached to the building and we were seated right away. Our server Miriam was bright, friendly and perfectly courteous. Our Bloody Mary's were spot on and the homemade pork rinds dipped perfectly in the drink, so much fun! Our meals were delicious and well prepared and the Hollandaise was just right... I'm sorry but Asheville has a problem with keeping a recipe basic. I don't want jalapeno ramp Hollandaise on a pickled biscuit. Sometimes I just want basic done so right that it's comfort food. Shrimp and grits was a solid interpretation and my pulled pork Bennie was tender and the cornbread biscuit had the perfect crunch. Service was just the right amount of attentive and left alone so we could visit. Miriam was a delight.
Seriously y'all... I'm coming back again to have dinner and hit that wine list a bit. We had the best experience from start to finish. A great room, great food, the best soundtrack for brunch (seriously Bonobo). Absolutely just right.
Good and atmosphere were excellent. Our server Miriam did an excellent job. Would happily visit again.
Great selection of wine, cocktails and food.
Service just ok
Last dinner in Asheville before heading home. Delish!!
Very Noisy! I had the fried chicken which was just okay.
Wonderful food and service
The food is so fresh and the tastes always pair well together. I've been there 3-4 times and I'm always impressed. (And I always sample food from family members' plates.) The servers are friendly and helpful, too.
The food was delicious, the server was personable, the berry compote/ice cream was a treat. A culinary delight!
Overall very nice dinner, only 1 dessert( pecan brownie) missed the mark, would not order again.
