Had a great experience at Blackbird! Greeted by the bartender Matt and the host, both were nice and welcoming.
The whole night was very enjoyable from the crafted cocktails to the wonderful local cheeses, salad and entrees. Service was very attentive and I enjoyed that fact that even though we moved to a table Matt was still our server and did a fantastic job!
We had an absolutely fabulous dinner at the blackbird for Father’s Day. It’s our favorite restaurant! The atmosphere and the wait staff are spectacular and the food could not be better.

We enjoyed our meal here. The menu is not overly expansive but still a nice variety of salads, small plates and large plates. We enjoyed the wine list as well. It had a nice selection of varietals and price points and the value was very good based on what we knew of retail prices. The overall value of the meal was good as well especially relative to what we saw at other locations albeit we only dined at a few spots. The hostess and seating process was not very good but the table service was good enough and very friendly.

We started with cocktails and one of us had a glass of pinot noir. It was definitely off, either old or in the sun etc. We shared a cheese board which was quite nice, and the fig jam was excellent. The chicken dinner, recommended by the waiter was over-cooked and dry. The cold smoked porkchop was the best we have ever tasted, however the plate was otherwise filled up with potatoes, seemed like about 2 pounds of potatoes--way too much for balance. What we would go back for was the dessert--especially the deconstructed mocha torte. Sadly the shortbread, while tasty was severly lacking in sauce.

The food was good and the waiter was great! The atmosphere was just so-so. We were seated by the exit door and for a meal of that caliber, I would have preferred a better atmosphere. I didn't ask to move because the entire restaurant seemed to have little personality and ambiance.

We were in town to visit UNCAsheville with our daughter and she had never been to the city of Asheville. We gambled and tried The Blackbird and it was amazing. We will be back!!!

I went with my partner because I saw they had a new vegan menu. It’s so nice to go someplace where I don’t have to have a salad if I want a vegan meal. The eggplant dish was excellent, and the vegan chocolate cake was also very good. We will definitely be returning, because I also had my eye on the vegan mushroom dish. And for people who are vegetarians, the vegetable Wellington is also an excellent choice.

The ambiance was pleasant. And, our waiter was quite professional and efficient. However, the food was disappointing. The presentation was nice but the taste and quality was poor. We would not return. High prices with little value.
Food was well prepared and most were nicely plated but timing of bringing out dishes was poor...there were six of us, and people who ordered soup got it first, then salads were brought out at the same time as main courses making the table too crowded with plates and awkward for people to eat. Prices are a bit higher than most white table cloth Asheville restaurants.

We love Blackbird but this visit was was well below their normal quality. Both the French press coffee and hot tea arrived cold. The scrambled eggs and over-medium eggs were over cooked. Very disappointed that we brought out of town guests to brunch. They were obviously training some new servers. We wondered if they were training new kitchen staff, too

Olivia was great! Enjoyed 3 courses of food and wine, would probably look into trying the tasting menu next time. Everything was delicious, cheese board was beautiful. The seafood risotto was very good and a good portion for the price. Olivia's wine knowledge was spectacular, and I enjoyed talking about pairings with her. Will definitely return.

The atmosphere and food were amazing. I had the swordfish risotto, tomato soup, and swordfish ceviche. I would rate the food 9 out of 10. Service could have been improved if we didn't have to constantly chase down our waitress and/or ask multiple times for her to come back. The waitress who bused our dishes provided better overall service. Despite this I would highly recommend the 5:30 table as the restaurant was not crowded and our food arrived as we finished each dish.

The food was ok, service was poor. We hoped that maybe he was just inexperienced because he didn’t care much. When we walked in to an almost empty restaurant in downtown Asheville on a Saturday morning, we should have known then. With so many great restaurants to choose from we were disappointed with this choice

I enjoyed the experience and would return. Had a large group and they were very accommodating and diligent about ensuring we would have good seating and be together. Waiter was really attentive and food all came out at once and was delicious.
Took my wife here for a finer dining experience as part of our week in Asheville. The wine list is extensive and well rated. The salad we shared and 2 entrees we selected were both flavorful and reflective of what is in season for the area. Our server, Aaron, was fantastic and addressed my over cooked lamb without a fuss. The high ceiling, open space makes it a bit noisy especially when your table for 2 is by a large table of ladies followed by a large group of guys for a bachelor party. We would consider going back.

This restaurant was recommended to us when we were unable to make a reservation at another restaurant on the Biltmore Estate (our tickets were for a different day). The Blackbird did not disappoint. The wait staff were by and far some of the BEST I have ever met....extremely knowledgeable about their dishes and how to pair the food with available wines. We had the eggplant dish and the vegetable wellington, and were persuaded to split a dessert of fresh fruit cobbler with homemade blackberry ice cream. Totally amazing taste creations all night long, and the waiter even gave us tips for touring the Biltmore the next day as well as other great eateries in the area. How cool is that??? Will totally be back again.

Impressed with service right from the start. Our server provided excellent wine recommendations. Menu offered something for everyone in our party. I had the fresh catch with scallops and it delicious. Also enjoyed our appetizers (cheese board and crawfish sliders). Wonderful dining experience.

Be sure to leave room for dessert at The Blackbird. Their coconut cake rivals any I've had anywhere. The proportions of cake to frosting to custard filling is just right. The cake itself is light and flavorful. Delish. Interesting dinner menu, good vegan options. Extensive wine list. Knowledgeable servers.

WARNING: My wife and I ordered the chefs sampling table (6 courses). We really enjoyed 2 of the 6. Before ordering, we checked to ensure that we would not be eating anything raw for my wife. We were assured they would be able to avoid raw foods. We were disappointed to find that my wife was served lesser substitute dishes rather than fully cooked normal dishes that had been listed. When served the carbonara, the raw egg was raw despite our direct request. We were told that chef insisted on serving it raw or not at all, and my wife was given alfredo instead which was not very good.
Overall, my wife and I managed to have a great time - but it was not because of blackbird.
Fun place with an upbeat vibe. Chef stopped by our window table - a nice touch. Two in our party had the corn pudding entree - fabulous!
We had no luck with restaurants downtown- including The Blackbird. We read reviews and went based on seemingly high regards of the food. Both of us ordered the tenderloin trio. What we received was flavorless, room temperature, very small, pieces of meat. Looked and tasted like they had been sitting under a warmer for a while rather then being freshly prepared. We were seriously disappointed and we ate, paid, and pretty much ran out of there as fast as possible. Also, the "trio" of sauces/butters they put on top were pointless- might as well leave them off as they added nothing to the meat. Mine only had a spec of the truffle butter on it so I honestly didn't even taste it- not sure why they sent it out like that. Served with bland mashed potatoes and some pieces of grilled asparagus. Not sure why this place gets the ratings it does- save your money and take it somewhere that isn't downtown.

A very nice restaurant, with great service, good food and a well curated wine list. The items we ordered were not excessively creative (lamb and tenderloin medallions) but both were very well prepared. The service is top notch, and the server was very conversant with both the menu and wine pairings to complement the dishes.
As clarification, the reference on the restaurant's website about one hour free parking at the hotel ramp, means that if you visit the restaurant for less than one hour, your parking will be free. (useful for an aperitivo perhaps, not for a dinner). It does not mean that the restaurant validates or covers one hour of the parking. However, parking in the hotel ramp is inexpensive and the restaurant is well worth it.

There were only about 2 other small groups in the restaurant, but given the service it seemed like there were many more people there. Waitress was very nice, but very slow.
Ordered the burger...bun was hard, burger was well over cooked and the pork belly on the burger was very under cooked.
Had a group of 8 and we all had a similar experience/opinion.
Good drinks, very sub-par food.

Our overall experience wasn’t good. We ordered appetizers and two bottles of the same wine. They brought the food and not the wine. After a while they told us that they only had one bottle. We ordered two more bottles.... same story. Finally they suggested another wine more expensive than the one we ordered but they gave it at a lower price. We almost finished the appetizers when we got the wine. The food was ok but not as good as we expected according to all the reviews we read before booking our table for 8.
The waitress wasn’t very nice or helpful.
We went to other restaurants in the same area, with way better service and food and they were not harassing me with emails and messages reconfirming the reservation.
When we arrived the restaurant wasn’t full and it never did.
