A new favorite!! We need one in Green Valley at the the District!!
Great food!! Service on point! Drinks were a bit pricey, but fantastic. Definitely will be back!
I love this restaurant. It’s small and local, feels like a trendy eatery in East LA. The food is spectacular! Great Thai Asian/fusion menu with gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options. The food is more of a fine dining experience, excellent. Great cocktail menu, I love the Tito’s basil lime martini.
Enjoyed our dinners. Cocktails somewhat pricy. Good value with some wines on the list.
This is our neighborhood favorite. We go often. The chef changes up the menu every couple of months, but the dishes she comes up with are always amazing. The servers quickly get to know you. It just a great experience every time.
Great little spot in the south west! Service is spot on and the ambiance of the space is perfect!
The meal was outstanding! I highly recommend this restaurant.
I have now been to The Black Sheep three times and I have been continuously pleased. The food is outstanding. The combinations of textures and flavors is impressive.
But, it is not all good news. The service was a little brusque. The space is small and it is rather loud. Some people may call it "energetic", but to me it is just loud. Having a conversation is near impossible. So, it is not really a destination for a date or meeting.
Fantastic! The flavors were impeccable.
Chef Jamie is awesome! Great menu for NYE!!! The preset menu was wonderful! We ordered a few dishes and went family style so we could get a taste of everything!!!
My husband and I tried this place out for the first time on New Year’s Eve.
The wait was a little longer than our reservation time. But, given that it was New Year’s Eve, it wouldn’t be fair to take a star away from them because I already expected it would be crazy. The staff was very attentive and sweet. Noise level was moderate but not annoying.
The food....AMAZING!!! I was a bit hesitant at first when I saw the menu but I am glad I went with this restaurant because everything was delicious! We had the prix fix menu together with the traditional wine pairing. It was all perfect! The timing in between the courses was perfect as well!
Overall, we had a great experience and will be going back soon to try out their regular menu.
The food is pretty good, but the lady that attended us wasn’t very nice. We asked about the plates, because it’s was a different menu, and she was rude. She also wanted us to eat fast because the restaurant was crowded. Not nice.
New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe Menu was a delight. Nice cocktails, great service, tasty apps.mainn courses and desserts...all in creative presentations. Nice by the team.
This was a great find! The food is absolutely delicious. This is my second time here. We started with cocktails, and I had Killing Me Softly which I enjoyed. We ordered Imperial Rolls and Grilled Octopus for appetizers. Both were delicious. My entree was duck confit with couscous. The couscous was flavored with curry and complemented the duck really well. Service is excellent.
The food and service were excellent. The restaurant was a little noisy as it got full, but overall would highly recommend it.
Chef Jamie Tran is brilliant!!! Her food is AMAZING and the staff is so professional and courteous! With every dish that comes, the staff explains the dish which makes you even more excited to try it!! :) I appreciate the neat ingredients and attention to detail in the food!!
The Black Sheep has a rotating seasonal menu. There are some mainstays it seems, but then some new items pop up so it is always a fun surprise to come here!!!
What to order if you can't order the whole menu:
SPANISH GRILLED OCTOPUS- the most tender, melt in your mouth octopus!
BLACK SHEEP "HOT CHICKEN" - karaage chicken smothered in a beautifully red, kimchi gochujang sauce!! It is on top of a thin slice of honey toast! Mustard seeds and perfectly pickled cucumber slices cut the grease and heat!!
SEARED U10 DIVER SCALLOPS- everything about this dish (and all the dishes here for that matter) is perfect!! Kabocha polenta??!? Say whaaaat?? Creamy polenta goodness and three scallops seared to perfection!! Yesssss!!
BRAISED LAMB BELLY (can't remember the official menu name) - didn't know lamb belly existed until I had this dish. It sat perfectly cooked on top of mashed potatoes with flageolet beans, carrots, and crisp, fried baby beet slices! The lamb belly was a hearty chunk of tender meat that wasn't gamey at all!
FRIED BEEF CRISPS - a must order! The first time I was here, we saw the table next to us get it and had to order it for ourselves! It is fried tendon!! I didn't even know you could do this with tendon!! *Mind blown*
CHOCOLATE TRES LECHES CAKE - not too sweet, but just right!!! Cream is poured on top and micro mint greens add a unique touch to it!!
The Black Sheep is one of the rare restaurants where you can probably eat your way through the whole menu and not be disappointed!! Have I done this? No, but now I think I will.
The food was Vietnamese fusion and was delicious - the ceviche was my favorite. The cocktails were even better. We had excellent service. The restaurant was a relaxed atmosphere but clean.
Our server was wonderful. She made the experience, which was already good, exceptional.
Love having a great restaurant in the neighborhood with great ambiance and awesome food!!
Everything we ordered was excellent.
Can’t wait to go again! Very incentive cocktails and food. Lamb belly outstanding.
The food was delicious and the service was top notch! We couldn't have asked for a better spot to eat at for our one nice dinner in Vegas. Everyone was helpful.
The drinks always take too long to get. The drinks are delicious but the poor bartender never has time to talk to the guests at the bar and is always in the weeds. Once we were seated it took 25 minutes for our drinks to come. We live less than a mile away from the restaurant and LOVE the food but we have noticed that the bar is always under staffed and this alone keeps us away now because we know we won’t have a good experience sitting at the bar because the bartenders literally can’t spend any time talking to you and when your at a table it takes so long to get your drinks. The food is always good, we love the restaurant but won’t be back for a while because it seems the same issue always comes up, drinks take forever. Just my two cents..
Wow the food and drinks at The Black Sheep are both creative and exceptional. We've been working through the menu little by little and everything is delicious. Seriously, not one thing has just been okay, it's all amazing. On top of that, the decor and ambiance are super cool as well. Don't miss this place.
As always the food was excellent. The grilled octopus, salmon skin tacos and pear salad were all excellent. The ribeye steak was delicious. this was all shared between two of us and we walked away feeling very satisfied. This is an excellent restaurant.
Excellent restaurant that you would miss if you blinked an eye. Though it's located in a strip mall, it is far from strip mall food. The menu is creative and very well executed. Service was attentive with solid good recommendations. Many of the dishes on the menu were easily converted to vegan for one of our party members. Black sheep has a fun vibe. Good mix of clients (young and older) and everyone seemed to fit in. Highly recommend!
Terrible food. Not sure about all of the excellent reviews I read. Maybe those people haven’t traveled or eaten high quality food. The waiter told us the restaurant won the 2017 best French Vietnamese restaurant on the US award. On what planet? I could think of a few others that blow this place out of the water - Slanted Door and Le Colonial.
A good indicator of quality French Vietnamese food are the imperial rolls. Our rolls came drenched in a fish sauce with over powering vinegar probably used to block the fish sauce. The rolls were all soggy and we didn’t get to experience the crunchy crispy outside and moist savory inside. Not good.
We also ordered two of the supposed Best dishes and both were so lacking and not good. The short rib had no flavoring no seasoning no taste. Big kiss. The scallops were definitely frozen as they were rubbery and hard as a rock.
Wow, first time here on friend's recommendation. Definitely a very special restaurant. Lovely decor, expert and friendly service and the food is so delicious. Unusual flavor combos, using Asian flavors expertly combined with Western ingredients to create really delicious food. Nothing is pretentious, just expertly prepared food. Highly recommend. Great wine list. We will be back.
Portions are small and on the pricy side.
Took a friend from California to dinner. He is an adventurous dinner and just loved the food. I missed the beet salad, but the menu is interesting, not you steak and potatoes kind of place.
Everything was luscious! The drinks are amazing as was our dessert.
Great food & great service. This is a neighborhood gem. We were the first reservation for the evening on a Saturday. Within 1/2 hour this small restaurant was filling up quickly. Better make reservations through Open Table or you might not get in. This is definitely a repeat restaurant for us. If you’ve never dined at Black Sheep I highly recommend you give it a try.
Every aspect of the dining experience was great! The food, wine, service, and cozy ambiance were all outstanding. There is something really special going on here! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning often.
Very impressed with this new-ish off-strip restaurant. A perfect example of "New Vegas" dining - very creative menu combining many different flavors. Lots of fun, small bites on the starters menu and the main courses don't disappoint. Bring a large group and share everything. Very friendly, casual but attentive service. Worth taking a car / drive off-strip to try something different.
I had no idea American-Vietnamese was even a thing, but I enjoyed the heck out of it twice in the span of a week. The hot spots just keep on coming to SW Vegas and I love it!!
Bow down to their "Bao Sliders", consisting of pork sausage, fried quail egg, crispy shallots and jalapeno aioli; THIS is an absolute must order. The pillow-like buns and thin sliver of Chinese sausage combined with everything else it had going on tasted like the best news I'd get all day. It is a remarkable bite that I totally wish could be made as a full size burger.
The "Crispy Mediterranean Octopus" was another outstanding appetizer with Spanish baby octopus and the amazing lick off the plate purple basil vadouvan (curry) sauce that shot it up several levels. Shareability would have improved had there been chopsticks for everyone, which they don't have, which is kinda weird.
The "Scottish King Salmon" is a dish that could easily have been on the menu at Harvest by Roy Ellamar at Bellagio. Scented farro, smoked eggplant, fresh plum salad with a gorgeously cooked salmon filet (that skin!) sitting on top was superb and arguably the best entrée they offer.
I detected distinct Taiwanese flavors from the uber tender "Braised Duroc Pork Belly" with mustard greens. The eye pleasing sticky rice encased in a flavorful bamboo leaf that accompanied it was a nice play on the classic "bah-tzang" I used to pig out on by the dozen as a kid.
No one could go wrong with the fantastic "Slow Cooked Short Rib" coupled with the summer squash ratatouille, which made for a great flavor combination. I also fully enjoyed sampling my wife's "Fried Whole Rainbow Trout" with sautéed rainbow Swiss chard and ginger/rice wine vinegar sauce. Big thanks to our server for advising me to eat the fish head! It was an absolute joy of crunchy fried goodness. Do it!!
Excellent food and strong good drinks. We had a nice Anniversary dinner. Thanks!
We love this restaurant. We have introduced many freinds to it as well, and we always love food and the great service.
We had a great time with great food, handmade cocktails and Max is The Man to have behind the bar!! Recommending Black Sheep to all of my friends that visit Vegas. Skip the Strip and go local!! 5 stars!
This was our first time to visit Black Sheep and we were very happy with our experience. The appetizers of octopus, salmon skin tacos and Vietnamese crepes. The salmon was a delicious main course. Very flavorful, good size portion. We were tempted by the description of the deserts, but where to full by desert time to enjoy them. This place is definitely worth a visit!
