The Black Rose
It’s name comes from the Gaelic term “Roisin Dubh” or the small black rose, which originates from a 17th century poem inked by an anonymous author who wrote: “Over the highways and byways the pilgrim goes aflame with the name of my small black rose.”
This is the essence of the Black Rose: an experience to stimulate the senses and create memories for years to come.
Pints are poured by staff with authentic brogues, the cuisine is authentic yet inventive, and there is live Irish music seven nights a week, all year round.
We were sold on coming back here following our meal and service experience. As we were walking out to leave, some wasted guy walked right in to me. The bouncer immediately threw him out. We were super impressed at how professionally it was handled. Would be there every weekend if in the neighborhood.
Waitress is fantastic!! Love the atmosphere!
Beautiful atmosphere, a perfect place to take someone who’s missing Ireland! Can’t wait to go back.
Great live Irish music, food was great and the feel was Irish Irish irish
Good pub venue for a drink and atmosphere.
Food and service well below expected standards. There are plenty of better options for food in Boston.
Overall experience failed to deliver for our party of 4.
The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for, dark paneled walls, Gaelic artifacts and family crests, cozy and dark. The waitress was attentive and spot in with her recommendations on food and drink. The offerings were the Irish comfort food I was hoping for, very tasty, cooked the way I ordered it and prompt. Couldn’t have expected a better experience.
Everything was great! I just thought three food was a little pricey.
The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable! We made a reservation for 8pm, and because they were a little late in seating us, the first round of drinks was on the house. The band that was playing was also entertaining and engaging. I can't wait for my next trip to Boston--I will definitely stop in, again!
My husband and I go there regularly with our infant son, this time we brought my father. My son usually sleeps thru the entire thing even with the music and noise. Food is always amazing, service is great!
About 15 years ago, after a harrowing trip to the Marriott Custom House, across the street, we were hungry. I asked the doorman where to get something to eat and he pointed to Black Rose. Every time we’re in Boston, now, one place we must visit is Black Rose! And the value you get for your money is off the charts. My wife and daughter love this place.
Fun atmosphere, good music & good meal!
Great venue bad value for champagne toast at New Year thimble full plastic glass! Not impressed
Very food service, great ambiance, we got here with my brother for NYE and was a good option, even that the glass of champagne was poor fill than others, the band compensate the pay for the ticket.
Great live music. And on a Sunday night!
Laura was a wonderful accommodating waitress. Celtic Clan music authentic.
Good nachos and fish and chips.
Met up with friends from New York to show them a traditional Boston Irish Pub. Great food, nice service and awesome atmosphere.
The stew was watery and one didn’t even have a single potato.
