Originally a stage coach house in the mid-1700s, today the Tavern embraces the traditions of fine dining with exceptional hospitality, a historic restaurant setting and a focus on modern American cuisine using local produce and products from purveyors throughout the tri-state area. Came for a Saturday evening dinner. Hostess was very pleasant, sat us immediately. Menu options were fantastic. Ordered the angry shrimp and prime rib. Both were good. Waiter was pleasant, offered to bring our bill without offering dessert, but otherwise a great evening. We will be back!

This is a nice place with good food. The shrimp cocktail is a must. I prefer the more casual atmosphere next door at the Black Horse Pub....just personal preference.

The place is especially cozy for a cold winter night, lit fireplaces and all. The service was very nice. My only complaint was that my dinner (the crab cakes) arrived ice cold with cold limp French fries on the side. Not OK at a restaurant like this, at this price point especially.

We went on New Year's Eve. At first the service was great, very friendly and efficient. After we ordered our food, we didn't see wait staff until we had to call for them several times. Service was poor, not sure if they were understaffed or the kitchen was slow or whatever. The food was good once we got it, but again, the service very disappointing.

Cozy restaurant with good service and nice wine list. The roasted cauliflower appetizer was burnt with many black spots. The lamb shank entree was not exactly falling off the bone: it was still pink - good that we got a really sharp knife to cut it. The coconut cream pie and the crumble apple pie were major disappointments: they looked and tasted like they came straight from the supermarket.

We picked Black Horse for my wife's birthday dinner along with friends. The historic building is complimented by soft comfy chairs in a quiet environment that allowed everyone at a round table for 6 to talk easily. The food and service were excellent with a special shout out to the rotisserie prime rib. It was my first and will certainly not be the last. We also enjoyed cocktails at the Pub before dinner which was fun will be on our list to also try for dinner.
