Open since July 4th, 2002, Black Cat Bistro is known for serving Innovative Farm Fresh Fare. The menu changes often as Black Cat Bistro consistently strives to present fare that is reflective of seasonal, local produce and organically raised or sustainable product.The food is especially cognizant of wine pairings to electrify the palate. The Black Cat has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for nine years in a row.

Black Cat Bistro is small with 45 seats and this is part of what makes it such an intimate dining experience. The service is attentive, unpretentious and refined. Candle light adorns the tables covered with white linen. Food is served on white china and wine in crystal Riedel stemware.

We went while the restaurant was required to operate outdoors only. They had made a comfortable space outside and everyone was safely distanced. The service was friendly and the food was wonderful!

My pancetta and sage stuffed pork chop came unstuffed. My husband's dinner got cold while waiting for my new dish to be prepared. The server was apologetic.

We had the cesar salad, chicken picata, the hamburger and the chipotle shrimp. They were all too good to pick the best. The shrimp was like an elote (corn) with shrimp & linguine! Burger was full of flavor, blue cheese & crunchy pork belly!

Our party of 6 enjoyed dinner. The entrees were varied and 4 folks thought they were excellent. On this Monday night there were a number of empty tables and the ambience was great for visiting. Service was really good.

This restaurant is really good. The service was excellent in the food was very good. We will be back. If you want a good place to dine I would recommend Black cat bistro.

Experience was thus; 0ne hour and fifty minutes to finish our dinner, and that's with payment initiated upon the dessert order. Moreover, we don't indulge in libations, and the relative pacing that can entail. The facility was never more than 75% full, and apparently they didn't get the memo on Valentines Day, requisite staffing, etc. Exacerbating the profound issue even more, no itemized check receipt and imagine this....in the "bistro" setting with fine wines and gastronomic pleasures....no pasta spoon for our spaghetti.

Server Gave great food suggestions. Food was excellent , Also we’ll priced. Very reasonably priced wines. Delicious clam chowder.

We were a very early arrival for dinner, so there were only 2 other tables dining at 5:30, making it very quiet. The chairs are super comfortable and the service was top-notch. The food surpassed all my expectations, with the brussel sprout appetizer quite amazing. The seared albacore was one of the best meals I can remember, and my husband and friend both had the salmon, which they really enjoyed.

It was a perfect dinner for four! From the appetizers to the delicious dinners, to dessert, everything was perfect. The waitress was very friendly, the wine list was great and reasonably priced, the food was absolutely mouthwatering! Would highly recommend the Black Cat to anyone!

The meal was wonderful but the service was somewhat spotty. It was busy being New Year’s eve however. This restaurant needs some serious advice about lighting. The ambience was really lacking because the lights were far too bright. They need to dim those overheads sufficiently so that you can at least see the candlelight! I hope they make it.

Once we got past sitting there for 15 minutes not being approached the rest of the dinner was pretty good. The food was very good although the scallops were barely warm. The chicken was fantastic. Very nice place.

The Black cat too is now my favorite restaurant in Paso Robles. The whole dining experience was great. We had 6 in our party and everyone loved the food. The service was great.

It was the servers first day and it showed. Ordered soup to start, had to remind her after my entree arrived and it was the wrong soup.
We enjoy the Cambria restaurant very much.

We made a pretty last minute decision to have dinner here and it was the wrong one. The food is very mediocre and not with the prices. The service and ambiance are completely lackluster too. I wish we had gone to Thomas Hill Organics instead.

The food was outstanding. Service left a lot to be desired. After we finished the main course and the plates and utensils were cleared, I ordered the cheese plate. The server neglected to bring cutlery - and didn't check back - so, I ate it with my hands ....
She also seemed to never have been taught how to properly set a table.

The food was worth putting up with the less than adequate service.

The best dinner we had in Paso Robles. I had the best osso Buco it was really tender and delicious my wife had the chicken piccata and it’s been the best she ever had.
Looking forward to try the location in Cambria.

We were from out of town. We had ordered rare tuna and the scallops. The rare tuna was fine but the scallop dish was cold. We sent the scallop dish back and they put it under the salamander to heat it up and when it came back, the plate was very hot but the food was luke warm. Eating luke warm scallops is not good. I ended up not eating the scallop dish. The restaurant took the scallop dish off the bill but it was very disappointing.

Chet our waiter was wonderful. We (I) had many questions and he was patient and when didn’t have the answer went and got it. We loved the option of half glasses of wine so we could try different wines throughout the meal. We were at a loss and left it up to the staff and we were happy with each choice. I got the scallops and it was delicious!

If you want to spend the entire evening here for mediocre food...this is your restaurant. We got seated 10 minutes past our reservation time, then it took 15 minutes for the waiter to take our order, then another 15 for the wine to show up on the table, and then another 15-20 for the food to show up. When it did show it was only warm, and my medium burger was very well past done. Our collective vote is to look elsewhere as Paso has better options. We will next time.
