The Bistro at Le Chocolat du Bouchard
Menu posted online was not menu when we arrived! Had to wait to be seated for quite awhile and overall would not recommend.
We went here for a birthday dinner. Their wine flights and dessert flights are amazing!
A chocolate shop with a kitchen that produces some excellent crepes. The side salad that accompanies the crepes should be offered as an independent entre it was simply superb. For desert you have the entire offering of the chocolaterie as well as some creative beverages. Certainly a pleasant dinner surprise.
My daughter and her friends had a wonderful time for her 16th b day! The food all the girls said was flavorful and delicious!!!
The best chocolates, desserts and espresso in Naperville!🍮🍰☕️
Very cute chocolate shop! Been there a few times now.
Server very nice & helpful.
Love there cakes, Mexican hot chocolate and variety of truffles.
I reserved a table ahead of time. Downtown Naperville is always crowded so I like having a reservation.
It's a must try!
Staff was accommodating, friendly, and available. Crepes were outstanding!
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere! A definite go to place for date night. Thank you!
Love the new dinner menu! We have tried 4 of the new crepes and they are all delicious!!
Lunch so not busy and quiet. Highly recommend to avoid crowds
They changed menu and did not update on yelp
Dinner menu was a nice lunch menu ..
The establishment has wonderful and delicious looking sweets upon entering on the way to the dining room. That's where it becomes a disappointment. Our party of 2 was seated between 2 other tables of 2 who were almost finishing up. We sat there for over 20 minutes with no one bothering to come over and ask for our drink order. There were, however , at least 5 other people who seemed like they were servers, standing around towards the back, just talking. When we finally just got up and were leaving, we passed the hostess station where 2 young women were deep in conversation and too busy to even ask how everything was. I would be hard pressed to give a good recommendation, and doubly disappointed because we were looking forward to eating here.
Terrible service, but we've gotten used to it here. You go for a treat, but expect this.
Mediocre food. Pricey for what it was and how long it took.
service was terrible. there were only two other people dining in the restaurant and I had to hunt down the waitress just to get a glass of water which she never refilled and on multiple occasions had to find her so we could order or pay because she was talking to other coworkers.
Food and atmosphere was nice but the service leaves much to be desired. Definitely a young staff that rather talk around the service station than be attentive to their tables.
My friend and I are probably the only ones who ate lunch at a restaurant known for its fabulous chocolate concoctions and didn’t consume any chocolate! We worked hard to maintain our discipline amidst the options —- and believe me, there were many! We had a wonderful, tasty lunch — highly recommend the chicken, artichoke chicken crepes! Those around us ordered all kinds of fancy hot chocolates, ice cream sundaes and chocolate flourless cakes/tortes. All raved about them! We will definitely go back when we’re not watching our weight! A great place for anyone who LOVES chocolate!
Le Chocolat du Bouchard is one of my favorite spots in downtown Naperville. It's quaint, cute, and has a large selection of artisan desserts. Highly recommend the flight of desserts if you're unsure of what you want to eat. I'm obsessed with the death by chocolate cake. So moist and delicious. I've had just about every hot beverage offered on the menu but the chai chocolate drink tastes like Christmas in your mouth!
It was a cool, rainy afternoon and the restaurant was a bit chilly, so we skipped the chocolate beverages and opted for hot tea, which was replenished regularly. Started with the goat cheese app--heavenly. The rest of lunch was equally delicious and the sampler desserts were to die for--love this place!
Hoping the kitchen was just having a bad day, but with only 2 tables filled (ours of 6; another or 2+ a toddler), our lunch took 40 minutes to arrive, 1 salad was incorrect salad, and items were forgotten, which we had to ask for, and were brought relatively timely fashion. When asked, the manager did approve getting 6 instead of 5 tasting desserts for the price of 5 - at 10 bucks, I would have comped it.
I was really looking forward to showing off the cafe to out of town friends, since I’ve long enjoyed their candy and baked goods, but lunch was a disappointment. While manager and waitress were apologetic, the fact that they kept noting that there was only 1 person in th kitchen didn’T really appease!
Wish I had read the bad reviews first...I came here with my husband for dinner at 6:30 on Saturday. We were sat per our reservation, but the service was very poor. Although they didn't appear busy, the server was inattentive. We put our orders in and 45 minutes later we had still not received our starter salad. At the 50 minute mark we got up to leave. We were told by the manager that the kitchen was backed up due to preparation for the next day. It is too bad that management doesn't seem to value customer service here.
Terrific location, wonderful ambiance. Parking close by. Classic menu at decent price. I'll visit again!
My first time actually dining at Le Chocolat. I met a friend for lunch today and made reservations through Open Table. I checked the menu on when making the reservations. I was excited for the Niçoise salad, as that is one of my favorites. First, let me tell you a little bit about the space. There's a bar area with stools where you can order just a coffee drink I‘ve bought many candies & desserts from the store in the past. The carrot cake did not disappoint. I ended up going to the store after lunch and buying some treats for my husband. I will definitely dine here again. I sure hope that the classic French Niçoise salad will be served here again! Of course, I will continue buying bakery, candies & gifts at the store. They have a great selection.
I think the problem is most people come to have just dessert so the dining room isn't really a serious consideration (for the chef or for the wait staff)
The food tasted warmed up and stale. The onion soup was old. The chicken salad was good but the croissant was soggy. The Croque Monsieur was the highlight.
The service was poor. There was a used straw wrapper on the table. The menus were dirty. The server felt like a server at a Friendly's not whats trying to be an upscale bistro.
At one point the server was folding napkins and loudly flipping them to get the dust off them or something within 2 feet of our table. Never had that happen before.
Ordered a milkshake and it was spilling everywhere as the server brought it to the table. Server just threw some paper napkins on the table.
The decor is nice but it was freezing cold inside.
Food was good, but the service was very slow. Desserts are always amazing!
With the exception of the rude hostess that greeted us, our experience was outstanding. Highly recommend The Bistro at Le Chocolat du Bouchard. Our only recommendation is for them to let go of the hostess from our visit. She is their first impression and unfortunately leaves a bad lasting impression. Fortunately the rest of our visit was outstanding. Wonderful waitress, wonderful ambiance, amazing food & beverages. We will definitely be back.
Steak was way overcooked and sides were incorrect. Sent it back. Waited 25 minutes. My fiance was done eating and they finally brought my dinner. Manager said we took off your entire bill. I didnt go out to dinner for a free meal in a doggie bag. Will never be back to this location.
Geon was our server and he was AMAZING! He made our experience there so memorable :)
Service was atrocious and food was mediocre. My friend's food wasn't even properly cooked and was inedible.
I love the ambiance and the desserts here. The lunch entrées need a little refining. The salmon with the salmon salad had no seasoning. The ham in the croque monsieur was cold though the cheese on top was warm and melted.
I have been to Le Chocolat many times for the desserts, but this time came for lunch and dessert. My friend ordered the Croque Monsier sandwich and I had the Artisan Grilled Cheese sandwich. The sandwiches also came with a small side salad. Both sandwiches were tasty, but not great. The chocolate dessert was delicious. I do not think that I would come again for lunch, which was overpriced as well, but I would come back for dessert!
This is primarily a chocolate shop, with dining as a secondary priority. Service is slow, so you don't want to come here if you're in a hurry. It took over 2 hours from when we were first seated until we finally got our check. Food was OK, but even as early as 6:30 they were already out of the Crepes Poulet. Lots of use of chocolates in the recipes, as you would expect. It has a nice French feel in an old building setting, but for a pure dining experience, Naperville has better choices.
The food was delicious, customer service was great. A wonderful time! Look forward to going back.
I took my mom to Le Bouchard Bistro for lunch for her 87th birthday, and it was just lovely! We both had the crepes, and they were huge, and delicious! We also had the crock of French Onion soup, also wonderful. Before the food came, we ordered a special hot chocolate - I had the marshmallow and my mom had the malted milk one. They were so rich and chocolate-y, it was like having dessert before lunch!! The service was great and the ambiance was just like being in Paris. Can’t wAit to go back!❤️
We arrived prior to our reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. After we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes before I got up and notified the hostess that a waitress had not greeted us yet. A noticeably flustered waitress was then assigned to our table. When we asked questions about the prixe fixe menu items, the waitress was unsure in her answers. After waiting over 5 minutes for our wine and it not arriving to our table, we decided the best course of action was to leave. Despite the seemingly abundant number of staff, overall service for the dining area appeared slow. We had a much better time at a different downtown Naperville restaurant, paid roughly the same price as the overpriced Le Chocolat Prix fixe menu, and had a better service experience.
Food was delicious. It was Valentine's Day and the service was slow if you wanted to be in and out. That is NOT how my wife likes to dine, so the pace was fine especially given the occasion. We had a lot of time between the soup/appetizer and the entree. Again, that is my wife's ideal spacing and given the huge size of the appetizer no one was going hungry. I would go again. I can do wine a few times a year, but I would suggest they put a couple of bottles of craft or other beer on the menu.
Food was amazing, our server was awesome. He was sooo helpful and talkative. One couple unlocked the door that is supposed to stay locked and everyone kept going in and out and it was SOOO cold! We asked a girl with long hair to lock it and never did. Everything was awesome but there should be a sign on the inside to use the other door or people pay attention to that door. Disappointed to be cold.
Incredibly slow, confused service. Food just average. Super cold in the place, on a normal winter day. They're great at desserts, but I recommend against the restaurant.
