I took my cousin to celebrate her birthday. We had a great time and she was really impressed with intentions of returning . Our waiter Irion B, was personable, knowledgeable and just great all around!

The vineyards is a destination that strives to give fine dining elegance and falls more in the genre of upscale local diner. Service is slow at the best of times, food is incredibly hit or miss, but the ambience/view and decor are excellent.

On my most recent visit my wife and I ordered a red pepper artichoke dip that was ‘ok’ at the price of ‘exquisite’ over spiced with too few ho-hum pita chips. This was followed up by our main courses a warm Reuben with tomato bisque and a grilled cheese with seasonal chicken noodle. To be fair we ordered plainly for our lunch, the Reuben again was ‘ok’ while the soup was delicious. The grilled cheese I ordered however was, ludicrous in a word. Plain under grilled white bread with melted cheddar left to sit for far too long with no pizazz to it, and chicken noodle soup that I swear had to have been straight from a Campbell’s can.

Encouragingly when this was brought to our servers attention she quickly was able to procure a replacement in the form of a Reuben with the aforementioned tomato bisque. This meal came out piping hot as opposed to the previous meals and was sufficient.

I want to love the Vineyards, I want to enjoy their artisan foods, but so far every time I’ve been thwarted by some seemingly comically obvious flaw.

In summary; it’s the type of restaurant to have rare Death’s Wish coffee, but only five weak selections of beer, a menu full of flair and pomp, but executed with the precision of limp lettuce, all wrapped in a beautiful environment and topped with a large dollar sign on the bill.

The staff is amazing. They are very helpful and polite. When I arrived I was quite displeased with my seat and the hostess and waitresses worked it out so I could sit in the best seat. Shout out to Paula, she's amazing. All the Bistro staff is great! Thank you for an awesome birthday. We come often and will continue to do so!

Overall our lunch was delicious. The cheeseboard is always a hit with us. Our only complaint is that my husbands blackened salmon with couscous was salty. Would definitely still go back.

We love the Bistro. The food was delicious and the service was good. We were there for our 49th Anniversary lunch. The only draw back is thT when you book a reservation on line you can not pick where you want to sit. We were less than thrilled with were we had to sit.

Overall, I had a very enjoyable visit. The caesar salad with shrimp was excellent and my mom loved the Bistro Burger. However, I wasn't warned about how hot the Pimento Cheese Dip was, and I severely burned the roof of my mouth that was sore for 3 days. Despite that, I would still return and recommend to friends!

We had all gotten a different type of salad as our entrees. The service and wine were excellent. However 2 out of the three salads were missing items off that were described in the menu. One was the chicken Caesar that had no parm crips and when asked got shaved parm. The other was the Greek salad and no olives. Substituted goat cheese for feta which was great but got charged to have oil and vinegar on the side but still didn’t get item in salad. Friend also got charged for the parm cheese but that was taken off when brought to servers attention. Overall it was good. Loved the view!

The ambiance of the outdoor patio, musical group, sunny view of the grounds and vineyards made this one of the best meal environments I have experienced in North Carolina.

The Trifecta menu with wine was very good and it was fun to try different wines with the three courses. The grounds at Childress are attractive. It is great to sit outside after a meal and enjoy one more glass of wine while looking at the vineyard. The day we were there, they were picking and crushing grapes - also fun to observe.
