Southern cooking at its best in the Northeast !!! Thanks for a wonderful time. Great staff !
I went to brunch with a couple friends and a baby. Service was friendly, particularly about getting our group set up with a high chair and explained the menu well, but our check was mixed up with the adjacent table at the end of the meal and overall things just seemed a little hectic. There were some weird issues with table extras: when we ordered coffee, the server didn't bring sweetener until we asked and she grabbed a container off the adjacent table. Same with salt and pepper, there wasn't any at our table and they brought it from another table when we asked. The food was ok, I had an omelette that hadn't been described as containing broccoli in the menu but half the filling was broccoli upon receipt. My husband's fried chicken benedict was also decent but a bit bland.
Chicken & Waffles were delicious. Bloody Mary and Moscow Mueller were only OK.
Traveled to DC for fun with friends and family!
The staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. They brought out our appetizers quickly, we had the deviled eggs and hummus, I would recommend both. The food was taking a little longer than expected so they brought out some more food to hold us over which was also very good. The mains were also high quality and I would definitely come back here for another date or to get some great food. Thanks again!
The food was delicious
Lovely little quaint and cozy restaurant with great tasty food. Friendly service with a great vibe.
I went to The Bird for Labor Day weekend brunch. The only availability was at 3:15, but I arrived at 3 and they had a table available immediately which was nice. Brunch hours are very long so it’s good for those who like to sleep in. The $15 bottomless mimosas are only available on Fridays which is a little misleading when they advertise for brunch. Nevertheless, the carafe is $30 (we did not finish) and plenty for two so you end up paying the same amount anyway. The drinks were very strong, kind of wish there was more juice flavor so it does get you quite tipsy. The server and staff were all very welcoming and nice. Food was pretty good with a decent selection on the menu for those with simple tastes as well as more “exotic” options for foodies. Overall, I enjoyed it. The place is nice and quaint- would go again!
The Bird was very fun! Definitely a place to splurge on food, albeit unhealthy, very TASTY food. Highly recommend the biscuits and honey butter, and the fried chicken.
The paella was amazing
Based on advertisements and marketing (Instagram, Facebook, posters, write ups in other newsletters) my entire party and I thought The Bird was doing bottomless brunch all weekend. Once we were seated we were told bottomless was only Friday. It was very disappointing and we felt we had been purposefully mislead by the advertising. We looked at the social media accounts and poster outside of the restaurant and confirmed they are unclear in the messaging.
Plenty of room for our group of 7 for a celebratory brunch. The waitress was fun, personable and knew the menu quite well. Just about everyone in our group was happy with their meal. One criticism was there didn't seem to be enough chicken white meat options (i.e., perhaps make the chicken/waffle dish white meat). Nice decor and personable staff.
As the name implies, meat from various types of birds is a specialty of this restaurant, and the duck and chicken my friends and I ate were outstanding. Additionally, the service was excellent and made the experience even better.
As we were on holiday in the USA, we decided to start our holiday with an American tradition - brunch. The Bird has great brunch reviews and we love fried chicken, so it was an easy choice. We had the chicken & waffle, wings and biscuits with chicken gravy. Yummy. Thanks also to Keeli, our server for her food recommendations for later on in our trip
Despite numerous glowing reviews were disappointed in both the service and the food. We chose a beautiful night and had a reservation. There were many empty tables outside but we were still made to wait in the bar for 15 minutes. We ordered four appetizers to ensure we could be served quickly but after waiting 20 minutes not even one of the dishes had arrived. We complained and the manager comped the meal and gave us a gift card for their restaurant group which was very generous. The dishes that did arrive were bland, stale and flavorless.
I went for brunch last week. I asked the waiter what she would recommend as the best for brunch. She recommended the chicken and waffles and the breakfast tacos. I ended up ordering the chicken and the waffles. When the food comes out, it looks very presentable and tasty. However, once you cut into it, it looks like the chicken was sitting in oil for a while. Plus, the breading on the chicken had no flavor, what-so-ever; it was very bland. It was so bland that I could've went in the back and cook my own food for myself. Also, the chicken did not seem like it was fully cooked in certain areas, which made me order another side to fulfill the purpose of the breakfast, but I did not finish the chicken. I would not recommend the chicken and waffles to anyone unless they like bland flavor of chicken or like oily chicken. This would be the place for them.
I’ll definitely be visiting again! Chris is a delightful waiter and deserves kudos for making this dining experience so delectable! He was patient, humorous, and had good recommendations (the fried chicken and watermelon salad are on point!). He was also not pushy and very respectful. 👌🏻
We arrived early- around 6- and the place was empty, but quickly filled by 7pm. The whiskey cocktail I had was outstanding; the curry meatball appetizers were tasty; the chicken wings app left a little to be desired-- perfectly cooked, but flavor was uninspired; the paella entree tasted great but was closer to a gumbo texture than my idea of paella; the cornish hen, like the chicken wings, was cooked perfectly but flavor was unremarkable. Overall good ambiance and service, so nothing to complain about. Just not a place to rave about.
The whole concept is creative, everything is bird themed. The meals were really tasty, the drinks were made well and also had creative names! The staff were really friendly and attentive. The aesthetic of the whole place was also really cool and cozy. Highly recommend for any occasion, just a dinner out, group, or date, it's perfect for anything.
Great restaurant. Good food, friendly service, very accommodating of some last minute changes to a large party. I will definitely be back!
we were looking for a great brunch place in DC that had chicken and waffles. they were awesome, cute little place. The breakfast tacos were also great.
The food was wonderful! Loved that even the plates were egg shaped - totally on theme! Highly recommend the fried chicken Benedict for brunch!
Our server seemed pretty overwhelmed and therefore service was slow and things were forgotten from the order. The drinks were overpriced and tiny! Place was so loud, could barely hear people talking across from us. Food was good, but not great and we were satisfied with the prices and portions offered for the Restaraunt Week menu.
Food is truly fantastic. Service however, is very poor. Slow and disorganized
Delicious food, wine, and cocktails on a very cute terrace. Great experience. Will be back.
Service here was fantastic. Our favorites were hands-down the duck meatballs and the pecan waffle for desert. The waffle is just perfect by itself. We will definitely be coming back to try brunch here!
I went for brunch and the food was amazing! I had the fried chicken eggs benedict. Also our server was very friendly and tentative.
Food was good, service wasn’t great. Avoid sitting in the back of the 2nd floor if you can. Lots of noise from servers dumping plates.
The experience itself was overall nice, but my entrée was a disappointment. Had the wings and the watermelon salad as appetizers. Both were very good. My husband and the fried chicken dinner, which was delicious. I had the Little bird, big plate, which was quail and chicken sausage. Both were bland and unseasoned. The most flavorful item on the plate was the coleslaw, and I don't even like coleslaw.
Choose wisely what you eat here. Some items worth it and others far from it.
Great food. Fun experience. So happy to have an amazing restaurant like this in the neighborhood. Get the omelette with chicken chorizo and don’t forget the biscuits!!!
Food was great but service was terrible. Our waitor was very inattentive and there weren’t that many other tables there.
The appetizers were outstanding and the duck entree was terrible; my boyfriend could barely eat it and he is not picky.
Very average food, was not impressed at all. The price would have been fine if the food was tasty. Just very average
My girlfriends and I had such a great time. Excellent food, great service, adorable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this to all!
Had an awesome time. Fabian was a great waiter and the host was awesome as well.
Use to love this place but service has gone down the drain. Saw a constant mess up by staff around me. Wrong food, messed up bills, long time to get a cup of coffee, explanation of menu. You have a great location and good food. Shame on you for not providing your staff good management.
Great place with a wide array of food options. We really liked all the dishes we had!
Terrible service, had to constantly track down the server. $22 for about 10oz of paella. Their sister locations are much better in price and service.
The fried chicken was delicious but you can't go here and not get the deviled eggs. Easily the best I've ever had.
Great neighborhood spot highly recommended. Fairly limited drink selection but some nice options, cool outdoor area!
