I went for brunch and the food was amazing! I had the fried chicken eggs benedict. Also our server was very friendly and tentative.
Food was good, service wasn’t great. Avoid sitting in the back of the 2nd floor if you can. Lots of noise from servers dumping plates.
The experience itself was overall nice, but my entrée was a disappointment. Had the wings and the watermelon salad as appetizers. Both were very good. My husband and the fried chicken dinner, which was delicious. I had the Little bird, big plate, which was quail and chicken sausage. Both were bland and unseasoned. The most flavorful item on the plate was the coleslaw, and I don't even like coleslaw.
Choose wisely what you eat here. Some items worth it and others far from it.
Great food. Fun experience. So happy to have an amazing restaurant like this in the neighborhood. Get the omelette with chicken chorizo and don’t forget the biscuits!!!
Food was great but service was terrible. Our waitor was very inattentive and there weren’t that many other tables there.
The appetizers were outstanding and the duck entree was terrible; my boyfriend could barely eat it and he is not picky.
Very average food, was not impressed at all. The price would have been fine if the food was tasty. Just very average
My girlfriends and I had such a great time. Excellent food, great service, adorable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this to all!
Had an awesome time. Fabian was a great waiter and the host was awesome as well.
Use to love this place but service has gone down the drain. Saw a constant mess up by staff around me. Wrong food, messed up bills, long time to get a cup of coffee, explanation of menu. You have a great location and good food. Shame on you for not providing your staff good management.
Great place with a wide array of food options. We really liked all the dishes we had!
Terrible service, had to constantly track down the server. $22 for about 10oz of paella. Their sister locations are much better in price and service.
Great neighborhood spot highly recommended. Fairly limited drink selection but some nice options, cool outdoor area!
I took a visiting friend for brunch before he left and we loved the food. We got breakfast tacos, friend chicken sandwich and grilled zucchini and really loved everything. We ended up getting more zucchini and wings when another friend joined us.
I was running late and when I called to let them know, Ben was really polite and helpful. We had a little wait for a table outside because they were so nice in making sure they could accommodate my dog.
My only complaint would be that our server could have definitely been more pleasant. We were pretty efficient in ordering everything right away but honestly, you could just tell she was annoyed at everything. It was a beautiful day outside, her section didn’t seem crowded anymore but in general I felt a little worried getting her attention.
It took away from what would have been a perfect brunch. I will definitely be back though because everything else was wonderful and I’d love to try more items on the menu.
Lovely evening sitting outside on the patio. The waiter couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. I had the duck confit and it was perfect. Everyone loved their meal although beware of the small bones in the cornish hen.
Had a wonderfully tasty meal with my aunt who was in town. We sat outside on the terrace which made for great convo. The staff was exemplary and kind. Great little spot.
Awesome food and awesome service. Will be visiting again
Really great happy hour. We had the triple fried wings, chicken and waffles, duck/beef burger, and several cocktails, all was super good. I would bring guests there, it was that good.
My family and I went there to celebrate my nephew's birthday. All of us with the exception of one person in our part who just had the watermelon salad got sick and stomach ache and indigestion afterwards.
Stumbled upon this gem! Food, service, and ambiance was an A+. It was seriously one of the best brunches I have ever had. We made a reservation in advance, which really helped. Outstanding eatery!
While the menu might be a bit limiting (you know this going in), the food was very good and definitely worth this bit quirky restaurant. Fried chicken was excellent.
I liked the food but the restaurant is to expensive. For example, 9 average chicken wings for $16 or chicken with green beans for almost $20 without sides. I would go back to this place if prices went down. They can't expect to have fine dining prices if they are not a fine dining restaurant.
We dined at The Bird on July 16 for a last dinner for a friend who was moving out of the country, and we could not have been more pleased with everything about the experience. The staff went out of their way to make the meal both delicious and special, down to the smallest detail. We ordered a number of the different appetizers and entrees, from chicken wings to Thai BBQ to duck dishes, and all of them were excellent. We also brought wine from one of our cellars, and manager made certain to ensure that the older wines were treated carefully and decanted to maximize our enjoyment (the corkage was super reasonable too!).
I will definitely be returning to The Bird for both everyday dining and special events, as well as their "sister" restaurant The Pig; I've eaten there and it is just as great as The Bird.
Brunch delish. Great drinks
Great food, nice 2nd floor outdoor dining space, breakfast sandwich and Nutella waffle were both excellent. Wished they’d gussied up my mimosa a little—a grapefruit peel curl? Something? Other than that, thought the place was awesome.
For brunch, we sat outside at the tables, which were fine. The food was fine. My breakfast taco dish was delicious. The watermelon salad could have been tastier, perhaps by adding fresh mint. The deviled eggs were interesting.
There were times when I hoped that we could get our coffee cups topped up, when no server was around. We had to help ourselves to hot pepper sauce and salt and pepper.
Overall, it was a satisfactory meal.
The staff was very friendly. My waiter was the perfect amount of attentive, without being obnoxious or over-bearing. He gave good advice on what to order. I had the vegan option, which was delicious! It was plenty of food and I loved the flavor of the polenta, mushrooms, tofu and other vegs.
The only complaint I have (which was beyond the restaurant’s control) was the couple sitting too close to me having an annoying conversation filled with the word “like.” Excrutiating! In other words, if I could’ve like sat somewhere like away from them, I like would have.
Nice staff, really good food
Fantastic food & service! Really really good choice for someone looking to try something new in DC.
Ed was an incredible bartender who was super attentive to our needs! We also had just the most wonderful server who paced out our dishes well, ensured our coffee was full, and didn't seem overbearing at ALL!
I was confused upon arriving because it was a beautiful day and there appeared to be lots of seating outside. I indicated an outdoor table would be great, but the hostess said none were available. I asked if the open tables outside were already reserved and she said, no, it was on a FCFS basis. I figured that only large tables were available outside and they couldn’t seat our party or three outside. This leads me to believe their seating is weird. They’ve locked themselves into a lot of 6-tops that can’t be modified into smaller tables. That said the place is cute and I enjoyed the decor as J waited a few minutes for the rest of my table to arrive. I was served coffee pretty quickly, but when the rest of our table showed up, the waiter was nowhere to be seen and 15-20 minutes later, another waitress came by for their beverage order. Our waiter reappeared to take our order. We got the deviled eggs, I got the omelet, another person got the breakfast sandwich and someone else got the eggs Benedict. We also got biscuits which were really not special although the honey butter was good. The order was accurate. I didn’t ask my group how their food was, but for a place that specializes in egg and poultry, I expected more for the omelet. Everything was hammered - eggs and vegetables over cooked and not very flavorful. The side salad was not special. I found the avocado deviled egg to be a lot better than the buffalo style one - J had much higher hopes for the buffalo style deviled egg.
In spite of that fact that we waited a good 40 minutes for our food, the staff were very eager to clear it away, hovering and asking if we were done when there was food on the place. It felt rude like they were rushing us even though there had been no rush to take our order and there was no line outside and empty tables available. Service was just mechanical. No one seemed excited about the food or experience. Just serve it and clear it. Prob won’t return and I don’t recommend
Went there for a casual birthday dinner. The restaurant has a ton of different areas (each has their own vibe) from an outdoor patio on the street, ground floor, upstairs, and an upstairs deck. Overall the food was fantastic. The chicken wings, fried chicken, and quail (little bird big plate) were highlights.
Went to celebrate recently getting engaged. Staff and guests were great. Food was fantastic! We both had leftovers which is rare for us. Make sure you try the homemade hot sauces. Soo delicious.
So delicious! Cute little spot... Duck Meatballs! Delicious... Everything was spot on.
Amazing! The food is delicious and the waiter gave us free ice cream because it was my birthday! Super nice of them!
Great chicken, amazing drinks and desserts.
The service was terrible. There was a long wait at the front. The host did not care, took us to a spot upstairs in a corner. No mention of Happy Hour only being applicable downstairs. This was Sunday July 1. The server was very cold, no greeting and we waited some time for her to come over. The food was OK, our white meat chicken was dry. The décor was nice.
The fried chicken sandwich with an a fried egg on the pretzel bread bun was excellent!
They delivered on farm to table dining with nice vegetarian options. However the flavor was a little lacking and service was slow. Outdoor seating was nice in a quiet neighborhood. Add some citronella candles for the non-southerners.
Pre-theater, happy hour, ate on the roof top which was lovely. Service was super food was fun we will be back for a real meal sometime to this really good find.
