Eric was great! Food was amazing!
Met an old friend I havent seen in years. We were able to catch up & enjoy a great dinner with awesome drinks!
Delicious brunch with the girls on a Saturday in the winter
Our group received excellent service from Eddie and the beef short ribs in the steak & eggs was delicious!!!
This was the worst service experience I’ve ever had in my life. First of all I made the reservation a month prior to February 15th to celebrate my birthday. When I get there they tell us that they can’t seat my party yet which was 15 people. We were standing in the rather narrow entryway waiting for them to clear tables for us to sit down. I kept having to ask when we were going to be seated finally after 45 minutes. We all sat down frustrated and had our waiter come over to take our beverage orders. It took him 20 to 30 minutes to bring us back our beverages. At that point many of us were annoyed and it was getting later and nobody really wanted to eat because it was so late. Now mind you my reservation was at 8pm they did not take our food order until 10 PM, many of us were extremely frustrated and annoyed which rightfully so. We finally received our food and the portions were so small they might as well have been the appetizers. Most of us scarfed our food in two bites. We were still hungry & asked the waiter to bring us bread at 11 o’clock. It took another 30 to 45 minutes for them to simply bring us bread. I complained to the general manager & he apologized to me. He said he would do something for me to make up for it. I said fine & sat down. So with all this chaos happening and the management knowing that I was visibly frustrated with the poor service another table behind us received a warm happy birthday celebration from the wait staff. Imagine going through all that my party & I went through, & the restaurant not even being kind enough or cognizant enough to celebrate my birthday as well, but they did it to the table behind us. I was upset I went to speak to the general manager again & he gave me a $25 gift card to use for my dinner that night or in the future. I ordered surf and turf so I’m sure you can imagine that that did not even cover a sizable portion of my meal. I will never come to this restaurant again they have no care for BLACK guests.
Awesome staff, great vibe and crowd. They work very hard to make sure you have a great time.
Great food, great jazz! We ended up going during restaurant week, which reintroduced us to the location. I will be back.
We went primarily for the music. The set up for the group was pure amateur night, poor sound system, a stage platform that wobbled, and pounding hip-hop in the background. They did turn off the hip-hop for the first set, but it was clearly audible in the second set, coming from what they said was a private party in the back room. The music was great for those of us who listened to it, but many of the close in tables preferred their own company to the entertainment.
The service was attentive and communicative, although our server did participate more than we would have liked in the ongoing conversations at other tables. The food was mostly very good. Certainly it was prepared with care and respect. Not liking it was more a matter of personal preference than a comment on the quality. The wine list is extensive and what we had was very good. Maybe there could be more wines by the glass. The whiskey pour was generous.
Wonderful service and food
Another amazing experience. Took on of my best friends out for his birthday. We had Eddie as always, who is a credit to his profession and one of the best servers I have ever had. He never rushed us, he knew when to come and check on us and had great suggestions. We started with the charcuterie which was perfectly paired. Then moved on to their house salad that had a a great homemade ranch dressing that was clean and Devine. For the main course had their mushroom ravioli that was light and not covered in sauce allowing you to taste the wild mushrooms. They were so nice and made my friend a beautiful dessert to celebrate his birthday. I couldn’t have asked for a better server, better food or a better place. This is my go to restaurant when in Birmingham. You have to go.
Resturaunt was busy. Not enough staff. Was brought one drink and waitress did not come back to the table for an hour. We wanted to order dinner. Ended up leaving.
I am so sorry that you did indeed catch us on an unusually busy Tuesday night that left us a bit short-handed and scrambling. We always expect a good crowd for the The Blue Water Kings Band Showcase events, but this night resulted in double our norm and over 100 guest in 1 hour. I assure you that your experience was an isolated incident and does not represent the high quality food and service that we give our community. We hope that you will give us a chance!
I love this place and hadn’t been in a while. Decided to go here on NYE and again on this date.
The food was phenomenal!!! Only complaint was that they ran out of a feature dessert on NYE. Other than that everything was spectacular!
Went for pre-movie happy hour. Had generous glass of wine (1/2 off) and split 5 appetizers. Food and wine were really good, abundant servings and great service. Would definitely go back!
The menu is well conceived but lacks execution. The food was well presented but generally bland, lacking the “wow factor” of a truly memorable meal. Service ranged from very attentive to almost non-existant. Wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here again but a fabulous place to grab a drink and hear some of Detroit’s best live music.
New Year’s Eve dinner - early before the crowd
With only four enteees and four apps on the menu, they should have come out hot, not Luke warm
Great service with wonderful food! We love going to Vinotecca for dinner.
Best waitress ever, Jen is great!
When we first walked in, we stood at the host table for a very long time by ourselves. When someone finally did come over, she was clearly in a bit of a crisis and while she did acknowledge us, it was basically "I'll be right back". Eventually someone else came over and apologized for our wait and sat us. Unfortunately we were sat in the back room where a group of six VERY loud people were also sat. If you're stuck back there with loud people, it kind of ruins dinning out. The food and drinks were good and served quickly and it was great that we could order half portions (light eaters!). If we go back, though, we'll avoid that room.
The waiter is way too aggressive. Every time. And the band is way too large and too loud for that space. Those two things will cause me to not come back. And I’ve given this place numerous tries. Such a shame.
My wife and I are consistent return customers! The food is always great and the wine selection is superb. The service we have is always top notch especially with Eddie Winkler. He always makes sure we have everything we need and is such a fun interaction at the restaurant, he makes our dinner night so much fun.
Top notch food, great atmosphere, and amazing staff!
Presentation of food was excellent. 2/3 at the table was served food undercooked to what was ordered- but taste was fine. Had split servers and one was fantastic and chill and the other was a tad too much and overbearing. Band playing was excellent. Price for quality was on point. Overall experience was very good. Recently attended a wine tasting and food presentation and quality for larger parties was outstanding.
Eddie made our brunch a wonderful experience and the food was delicious!
I was there with friends Wine and drink menu is on a I pad which I do not prefer. Not very many choices of wines by the glass.
First time for all 6 of us. We took advantage of the Happy Hour offerings. Very tasty, maybe a tad larger portions. Our waiter was nice/ good, but you know how they can get a little " over friendly"? We were there to visit each other, not him.
Awesome Service!!
Friends reunion
Enjoyed the ambiance and the food was good but pricey for portions. Could really be more generous. I like live music and thought the band was very good but couldn’t really talk to friends who I wanted to catch up with. Think it would be better to not sit diners by the band. Service was good for the most part.
Valet parked for $10.00 in front but not complimentary, which it should be.
I was looking forward to trying this restaurant and what a disappointment!! Nothing was awful, but it wasn’t amazing either. This restaurant is too expensive for just a OKAY at best experience. Our server was sweet but didn’t know much about the menu or the wine list. The entire experience was nothing to go back for. I don’t recommend it.
Waiter could have been friendlier
Cool vibe with band starting at 8:00. Lighting is perfect for setting the jazz mood. Room is a bit of an odd layout for what they are doing but if you get one of the really close tables it is very cool and intimate. Food was terrific and wines by the glass were interesting and every one we tried was great. Really a unique gem in Birmingham.
Ed was our server, efficient, discreet and absolutely not intrusive!
Food is tasty and genuine.
Music was at a reasonable loudness (we were seated in the patio).
The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable he made this a good experience
I love this place. The ambiance / look and feel is fantastic. The food is always delicious (and there is a wide variety of really interesting dishes). And the service is great!
We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived promptly. No one was at the front to greet us. We waited for 5 minutes for someone-anyone to acknowledge us. We finally left ... too bad because previous experience was good. We won’t return in the future. Terrible customer experience.
Always excellent. Patio is great. Eddie (server) is charming and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell this is a well run restaurant from the top down.
We went for brunch on Sunday. Service was very slow considering we were the only table in the restaurant. The food was good but nothing stood out as amazing. With so many other locations to choose from this would not be my first choice, but they do have a nice outdoor patio.
Love the shrimp app and the salads!! Great spot for dinner!
Loved the food, wine, and drinks. Found the iPad menu for drinks a little cumbersome.
Totally enjoyed my experience! They made me feel special on my birthday. The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was great and the ambiance was perfect.
Eddy was friendly and enthusiastic. We enjoyed meeting owner, John Jonna, and learning about Rose wine among other liqueors. Food was outstanding. We'll be returning.
First time at Vinotecca but definitely won’t be the last. My boyfriend and I searched for a restaurant neither of us had been to and found Vinotecca. I checked out the menu online and couldn’t wait to try it out.
We started with a pizza, the Ahi tuna poke and truffle fries. The fries were a mix of sweet potato and regular potato and were delicious without being super salty. The pizza was AMAZING! Not too greasy, not too much sauce perfect amount of ingredients. The Poke was not my favorite, not enough flavor for me... Too seaweed-y flavored.
After all that food we shared the Kona coffee rubbed filet. I ordered it medium well and got medium rare. But when we mentioned it to the server he rushed it back to be made again ... then about 4 people came to the table to apologize including managers and the chef himself and they comp’d an amazing tiramisu dessert. After they remade our steak, I must say... it was THE BEST filet we have had in a very long time. After 3 previous bad experiences with filet mignons at high end specialty steakhouses, we had sworn off steak for awhile. I’m SO glad we gave in and tried it at Vinotecca. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Will definitely be back soon.
