The Big Ketch Buckhead
We made reservations and was told we had to sit outside as there was a 15-20 min wait. It was hot and muggy. When we moved inside we had to use a fan because the inside was also warm and the fan was blowing my hair all over the place. The shrimp tasted spoiled although we decided not to comment to the waitress, who by the way was good. The grits weren’t hot and the catfish and Brussel sprouts were extremely greasy.
It was super nice place love the environment and the service was team oriented so it was very comfortable
Outstanding in every way! The food is super fresh and delicious!
Food was lacking a bit, skimpy oysters, small portions on everything. Drinks all cost the same whether virgin or alcoholic.
I used to love this place but when they lowered their standards and still charge pretty decent prices and not have something as simple as PURE extra virgin olive oil is infuriating. I can’t have any other types of oil because of food sensitivities and illness. At least the server was nice and apologetic , even though it’s not her fault her owner/management staff is cheap and chose an oil blend, I’m sure to save a few cents. I won’t be back
So glad to hear that they are not shutting down but instead moving to a new nearby location!!
Lobster roll and brussel sprouts were very good. Service wasnt great but I have had worse.
Ran out of oysters on oyster day by 6:30 pm... Also they were running out of dishes really quick. Besides that, food is always great here!
Kyle and Sara at the bar were wonderful with their service and the food was outstanding, lobster roll, oysters, chowder and fish bites(Mrs D's favorite)!
Love this spot. Easy to get to, convenient parking. Good food, but come for the ambiance and service. It’s nice and quiet if you come early, and progresses to a chill buzz later. They often have good live music on the patio. The staff is very good at understanding who needs more attention and who wants to be left alone, refills glasses very promptly, don’t push you to finish up, etc. The tuna poke, lobster roll, and hush puppies are particularly good.
We had reservations but they couldn't see us but the guy at the front was still really nice...I was a bit dissaapointed but we will try them again anyways...it wasn't thier fault open table allowed us to book a reservation after the place had already closed...but I heard a lot of good stuff about this place so I'm leaving w good review on advance...all 20 stars earned because the guy at the front was really nice to us..
Nice restaurant. Great shrimp with grits
Loved the experience. Very casual, good music, outdoor seating and great service. For a Buckhead it's kind of surprising how laid back the atmosphere was, but it was definitely welcomed. The fried shrimp appetizer was excellent. It's about 12 shrimp served with mango sweet chili sauce. Cooked to perfection and two orders would make a great entree. On Fridays they have Pina Coladas and Mai Tais for $5. Can't go wrong with that. The shrimp tacos were very good. Two for $12. Abundant amount of shrimp and corn relish on a soft (warm) tortilla. Definitely will return.
Food tasted really good and price was reasonable. There were red peppers in the shrimp and grits that weren’t listed in the ingredients on the menu and that was a turn off and it wasn’t just a couple. It was loaded with them and it overwhelmed the flavor that probably would have been good otherwise. If I had know I would have requested they be left off.
It had been a few years since I had gone to the Big Ketch. Well, it was everything I remembered and more. The menu is generous with options, the crab soup was amazing, the fried shrimp was delicious and the green goddess salad was superb. Food and customer service were excellent.
Food was delicious! Specially the Shrimp & Grits! Definitely recommend. Unfortunately we didn’t try the cocktails, but if they are anything like the food I’m pretty sure it’s delicious.
Had a random girls dinner evening out and chose Big Ketch as the venue of choice. We all left dinner saying how wonderful it turned out to be. Sitting on the patio was perfect. Not too hot nor loud. Great for people and car watching. Food at Big Ketch is amazing! Known for their seafood. They never disappoint. Only thing is they were out of some main seafood selections. The oysters and mussels were phenomenal!!! Definitely will be returning.
The server struggled but overall it was great environment, great food and great time for all of us. It was a bonus that we were there for wine Wednesday!
The air conditioning at the bar was not working very well and was very hot. This needs to be addresses. Seems to be an ongoing issue.
Great meal and wonderful patio!
Food was good, better than I expected. Had the lobster roll, very good but a bit on the small side.
everything was just 'meh'...oysters were somewhat tasteless - Mignonette would have added to the overall flavor; corn chowder saved the day.
Friday’s they offer the pineapple drink! It’s a must have! They also have discounted apps!
Delicious scallops, great service. Nice atmosphere
Very loud, too hot inside. Very slow service. Mediocre food.
Great selection of food items; service was friendly and fun; food was excellent.
This is a good casual restaurant with a friendly beach-vibe.
Fantastic food and superb service. Ask for Natalie as she’s wonderful.
Our server was very attentive and the food was good. Thanks.
Yes and No. We have had good meals, but our lobster rolls were made of scraps on our last visit. We would not have lobster rolls again.
Very loud, the food was delicious
Good very good. A little expensive for my frequent dining out. The table next to us was very loud with laughter. Just 2 people and my group hard of eating
Originally it took awhile to get someone to wait on us, but we eventually got reseated in another section because of incoming weather and our new server was great. Food was delicious, but some of the more expensive items were surprisingly small.
The seafood was so fresh. The food and the drinks were excellent!
Grouper tacos and Brussels were good. Service was good. Nice lunch.
This was the worst experience I've ever had. 90% of the menu had been 86'd (canceled), the server did not come to the table for atleast 7 min after being sat. The order came out incorrectly. I asked for grilled shrimp, they brought fried. The corn (the only vegetable available) tasted like canned corn, it was horrible. My lobster roll was brought to me on a burger bun! It was father's day and this totally ruined our evening. I was extremely disappointed. On top of that the manager took of a minute portion of the bill off. I didn't feel like arguing in front of my family so I paid and left. I usually love this place, I don't think I'll be back.
Most food was good, some had issues but they took good care of us. Ryan was a very good server.
This is a great place to go for good seafood at a great price! You can hang out, have drinks, eat good food and walk away both full and satisfied. We had a great waiter who was attentive to our needs. We were sad to find out that they were out of crab cakes. This seemed odd for a seafood restaurant, but it is what it is. The drinks were also really sweet... a little too sweet. But dinner was great. I would recommend it and look forward to coming back.
When we arrived to The Big Ketch, we still had to wait 30 minutes for our table, despite having a 5pm reservation. We were offered a booth for 6 of us, but we would not have been comfortable in the booth, so we decided to wait. The restaurant was fairly crowded, and we were looking forward to enjoying a nice celebratory Father's Day dinner. The owner came by and introduced himself, making us feel welcome and apologizing for the wait. We ordered a dozen oysters and the crab dip for appetizers, as well as some drinks (mojitos and skinny margaritas - which were all very tasty) and a bottle of white wine with dinner! To make up for our troubles, the owner gave us (only week day happy hour) a discount on the oysters. Our waiter was very soft spoken (very hard to hear him in the loud restaurant) and barely acknowledged my parents who were sitting on the opposite end of the table, so they did not hear the dishes that were not available (the corn chowder and crab cakes). For the most part, the food was fine - nothing spectacular for the price. The lobster roll was all claw meat on a bun (they told me after the food was ready, that they were also out of the lobster bisque so I substituted the caesar salad instead). They accommodated my daughter's order for the kids' fish bites with a side of broccoli (instead of the fruit or chips). The curry was tasty, but a little on the sweet side, and the red fish (fish of the day) with the house blend seasoning was tasty (a little on the spicy side). My husband and I were a bit disappointed with our Father's Day celebration, but it may have been an off-day.
