This is a very pleasant place for a light meal and/or drinks, especially in weather when you can sit outside. The waitress we have had each time we have eaten there is outstanding and the food was very good.
The outside eating area at the Berkeley Boathouse was wonderful. We mostly chose the restaurant based on that and were very happy with it. We sat next to a beautiful fire and there were several heaters around us. It was quiet, but felt lively. My husband was able to see the baseball game playing at the bar, which was a nice touch.
The food was nothing to write home about, but it was perfectly fine. Prices are fare for what it is. It would be great to come back for brunch or lunch when we can enjoy the view.
The sever was wonderful and personable. It seemed like there were repeat customers who had been able to get to know her, which is always a good sign.
Note that parking is at the hotel is validated by the restaurant.
I did not know the restaurant was in the Hilton hotel. It was not marked on the street and there was no 200 Marina sign either. Two separate couples wasted over 30 minutes looking for the Boathouse driving by several times. We finally stopped at the Hilton to see if they knew where the Berkeley Boathouse Restaurant was.
Slightly pricey, but fine cuisine and attractive room......worth the visit
Service is slow but perfect for us as we were there to have a nice visit with out of town friends. Menu is limited, on the small side but everything we ordered was well prepared.
Great food and great service. The curry seafood soup was amazing.
Great experience. We went before sunset and it was beautiful to be close to the marina celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary. We have at least 3 people servicing ours and other tables all the time besides some reviews I read about service being slow. It was just as one would expect. Of course not a lot of servers is the place was packed, but everything is getting back to normal with pandemic almost stable. Would definitely recommend and go back!
Had a lovely dinner and view from the waterfront. Would return often if we lived there!
We sat outside and it was a little chilly in the evening, but there were heat lamps and a small fire pit. The staff was wonderful and the food was great!
We had such a lovely meal and service was excellent. Unsure when we pulled in -- did not realize it was a hotel restaurant. Everyone was on their A game. We were in a rare meat mood and the steak was served with a fresh corn compote with a sweet corn puree beneath a perfectly prepared sweet corn, crisp green bean and red pepper compote with dead on medium rare beef and perfectly prepared fingerling potatoes. The highlight for me was the baby artichokes. I traded my son a few pieces of my steak for his artichokes. They were that good. Paired with a very nice Davis Pinot. The setting was also lovely. We booked for outdoors but the temps dropped and -- despite fire pits and heaters outside -- we didn't come prepared with sweaters. Opted for inside and it was just lovely. Will go back again. And we are foodies who enjoy exploring just about every cuisine and price point.
The food was great. The drinks were great. The server that we had may need more experience. Brought out a wrong meal, forgot one drink, forgot to pick up our food so others got served first. Denied us dessert as he said the kitchen was closed but others received dessert moments later. I was Accustomed to being served for the entire meal all the way to dessert. It seems someone could have cut a slice of cake to make a customer happy. I hope in time things will improve. Remember, this was only one server as the rest of them seemed very good.
Service was the absolute worst
Not a very interesting menu. Ridiculous cocktail list—both poorly designed and poorly executed. No espresso machine.
Overall, a second- or third-tier restaurant at best. Might fool some high school or very young college students, but no one that likes good food from chefs that know what they’re doing.
One and done, sadly. Never going back.
Amazing food and a nice view! I recommend the salmon dish. Service can be a little slow so make sure to have plenty of time for your meal.
The location is beautifully placed near the water. There are nice indoor and outdoor spaces. The food was delicious and the service was great. I will definitely be back!
The wait staff were excellent ! Dawa was awesome !
Seeing our nephew
I’ve had much better service there before. This time the server we had was not attentive at all. In fact almost ignored us. We would have left no tip at all except the food was good.
The hostess was very nice, but the server was not welcoming and rude. The menu was small not many options for dinner. The Flat iron steak tasted like it was made 30 mins before I arrived.
Service was amazing
The clam chowder was delicious, but served Luke warm. No offer to remedy the problem when we let them know. Never order the flatbreads, they were horrible.
The muscles were so small and often nonexistent the flatbread we ordered for a vegetarian turned out to have salami on it and we had it redone and then the flatbread part was really not edible. The burger was OK - I will not be back
The menus had food stains and were unsanitary. The mussels were over cooked. The steak took a significantly long time to arrive. This was for an anniversary dinner. I wouldn’t recommend. Maybe for brunch just for the view.
This is an awesome location with amazing views and ambience right on the Berkeley Marina. The restaurant is located inside the Marriott Hotel, which looks like it's been recently updated. The inside and outside of the restuarant (with heat lamps & fire pits) is very nice, great for group hangs or date night. The food is serviceable, but the service is a nightmare. Our server was slow and and he wasn't perceptive, he either hung around too long, like he had nowhere to be, or he disappeared for long periods of time. He wasn't friendly and at times seemed confused.
Most of the food was OK, but the hamburgers were the worst ever. Truly horrible - two paddies each about a quarter inch deep, overcooked, dry, tasteless. Service very slow - I got my glass of wine 2/3rds through my dinner (and we had appetizers, too, so really slow). Music made me want to scream. View is very nice though and the heaters worked well when the temperature cooled.
Had a great bday dinner sitting in the outdoor patio area. Really great service from Roger and other servers attending to us diligently. Really appreciate that kind of service especially during a bday celebration. Roger went above and beyond to make sure my bday experience was great. A big thanks to him & fellow servers.
The ambiance was really nice too for their newly renovated outdoor patio dining. Definitely a good recommend to friends + family!
Wonderful place for graduation celebration! The only negative was that it was a chilly evening and since dinner was on the outdoor patio, we wished there were more heaters. But it was doable, service was great, food good and we had amazing views!
When we arrived for our 7 PM reservation, they told us that they did not have a table available on the patio, which was what we made a reservation for. We insisted on waiting at the bar for a table on the patio, and 10 minutes later we were given a table. We were told that there would be a bit of a wait until our server came because he was backed up. 30 minutes later (!!!) I went and told the host we had yet to have a waiter come to our table. There had been miscommunication and our server was not know aware he had our table. Needless to say, it was poorly run.
We both had a bowl of Clam Chowder, good but heavy on the Bacon. Gail had the Boathouse Cobb Salad, I had the Caesar, both salads were good. We then both had the side Salmon which had crispy skin and was NOT overcooked. Shared the Creme Brulee Cheesecake, (best dish of the night). Gail had Margarita, I had Tito's. This was my second visit only because the first visit SUCKED and I felt they could do better.
The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The service was a little slow, but not compared to most restaurants these days due to lack of servers everywhere. We loved the atmosphere and the new remodel (they elevated the deck, so now there's a view). It's one of very few places where you can eat outside by the water in Berkeley. With heat lamps and fire tables, it's a cozy spot to splurge for a night/afternoon out.
The location seemed promising. It is right on the marina. It is a quiet and nice area. The service was non-existent. We waited and waited to order, we waited for our food, and we waited over 30 minutes after ordering a beer once the food arrived. We were sitting 10 feet from the bar tap, and even the bartender would not serve the beer, saying it needed to be ordered by the waiter. She ordered it and stopped by 20 minutes later to say the bartender was "working on it". It was surreal. They were short staffed, and the staff was very inexperienced. There was one very personable and desperate table-busser, but she was on her own.
The food was very underwhelming. Absolutely nothing special or flavorful or interesting. The menu was a minimal. The food was poorly cooked (vegetables very undercooked, and meat very over-cooked). The french fries were fine. Sadly, we will never go there again.
We were seated at a table next to where the dishes were thrown after a meal, noise
totally unacceptable, we requested another table..which was okay...
Had Korean glazed wings, this was very good, management should take note to supply guests who order this to give hot towels or wipes, it's very messy..ended up dipping my cloth napkin in water to clean off hands....rest of meal was bland and disappointing...brussel sprouts were black, mushy and not appealing, Crab Shrimp Roll, dripping with dressing, which made bread soggy, bland, Panna Cotta was the worst I've eaten, and all this for just $80 not including tip...must say our waitress,
Dawa, was remarkable...
I love this place, found this restaurant during COVID and it was one of the very few places that actually allowed you to sit at the bar. I missed going to bars during the lockdown and when I came here I thought it was everything. Try have great service and TV’s.
Food was great, need to go early for better choices of food dishes! The chicken wing was delicious but a little pricey for the portion! French fries was crispy.
It's a lovely place for a relaxed dinner overlooking the marina.
Loved the mussels and French fries. Melley our server was very attentive
We went for our anniversary. They forgot about us. Three groups sat after us got served first and got their food. We waited for over 40 mins for our food to arrive. Wagyu burger was overcooked and cold with a side of cold fries. Best thing is their drinks, which we would’ve ordered more if they gave us the time of day. There was a family of 5 that were checked on at least 7 times, while our waitress was only there to take our order and drop food at our table. Disappointed and not worth going out of our way to go here especially for an anniversary dinner. We were also trying to scout the place out as a wedding venue as well but that’s definitely no going to happen.
We had a great meal outside. everyone here was friendly and kind. We moved to a table with better heat outside and they even provided a blanket for one of our party. The oyster po boy sliders for a starter were great. We also had the crab and shrimp sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich, both tasty, with delicious fries. Drinks were specialties from the menu, generous pours. We will be back again.
Just a very average experience in what might be a nice setting.
A little disappointed because they were out of St. Germain and I couldn’t have a Monkey Business, which is a featured drink.
