What a gem in Bakersfield! We stopped at the Padre hotel on the final leg of our road trip and were pleasantly surprised to find the best meal of our vacation. The food was fabulous and the ambiance is great. Favorites included the pea risotto (perfect!), carrot salad and veal steak. It is well worth a detour off highway 5 or 99.
Easter brunch with my family was very enjoyable. The food was really tasty and fresh.
Can get noisy from bar wish they had door
Excellent food and service!
Free flowing mimosas all morning. Great French toast and omlet station.
Had dinner at the Belvedere for Valentine’s Day with my fiancé. I thought it was a beautiful place with great customer service that’s it . The food was not the best, no flavor at all. If your looking to have a good steak and lobster this isn’t it. We could of ate at Black Angue twice and enjoyed our dinner with the price we payed here . Very regretful night !
Our experience at the Padre Hotel Dining Room (The Belvedere) was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable in every way. I'd requested a nice corner table and got it. The hostess and wait staff, food, ambience, and of course, my incomparable date :) were all top drawer. Truly a great experience. We'll be back. 5 Stars!
Food was excellent! Service was great! The decor in the room was nice! The wait in between starter/salad/entree was a little slow. Overall the evening was perfect!
This is one of Bakersfield’s top restaurants on my list, and the portions are hearty. Elegant atmosphere makes for a good place to celebrate special occasions.
Great wagyu steak dinner, our waiter was very attentive to our needs.
We had a great time for our special occasion dinner. You can’t beat their great ambience and service. However, the menu consisted of too many exotic meats, like elk and bison. I’m totally OK with that because I’m not really vegetarian, but there were very minimal vegetable choices for those who are health-conscious.
Can't fault the food but why oh why does the service have to be rushed so? We hadn't finished our starter before the entree had appeared and been squeezed onto our table. No sooner had my wife put her fork down, while still eating, and her plate was whisked away, I was still eating.....
In this sort of restaurant I don't expect to be rushed and made to feel that we needed to go, very disappointed, but could not fault the food.
Outstanding restaurant, my second time this week. The dishes are expertly prepared, I can’t overstate the quality. Chef RJ
The Belvedere Room at the Padre is one of my favorite restaurants in Bakersfield, offering a filet that's second-to-none. Our most recent meal was phenomenal, from the crispy lamb belly appetizer to the rack of elk entree.
My wife and I wrapped up our evening 10 steps away, at the Prospect, watching dueling pianos and sipping cocktails. All in all, a wonderful evening and highly recommended experience.
Outstanding restaurant a jewel in the crown of Bakersfield. The oxtail pasta dish was perfect. Chef RJ
We came to the Belvedere Room for our 3rd wedding anniversary. The food and service were excellent! I had the lobster mac and cheese, and my husband ate the salmon. My dish was delicious, and the salmon melted in his mouth! The portions were just right, and we enjoyed the romantic and quiet setting.
Sent the soup back and the waiter said people the night before were also sending the soup back. Why on earth didn't they make a pot of new soup? Wasn't impressed at all.
Romantic evening with really interesting flavors. The menu is "ala carte" which means it can get pretty expensive but it is very nice for a once a year event.
Salmon was smelly. Wine glass was chipped. Very limited wine menu. Only four desserts to choose from.
I planned a family adult meal during the holidays. It was really great, great quality food. The padre is perfect for an adult mature crowd. We had a good night, with no complaints.
What a nice Christmas dinner I had here! Such a beautiful setting, tastefully decorated for the season. My children and I had our main meal at the Belvedere Room. I have visited my son many times in Bakersfield, but this was the first time we dined at the Padre Hotel.
Naturally, the restaurant was busy on Christmas night as expected, so the service was a little slow, but not uncomfortably so. I found a new wine (Jackson Estates Chardonnay) which helped with the wait. Kelsey was a friendly and attentive server.
The three of us all had something different which was nice to share. A lamb dinner, beef dinner and lobster tail -- something for everyone. I think the best dish was an appetizer -- the lobster macaroni and cheese. Served in a small kettle, it is mouth-watering. Very rich, though...
My lobster was tasty and a decent size -- about 6 ounces. My son had the beef special with mashed potatoes which was a large portion (he took home a doggy bag). My daughter raved about her lamb (also a large plate with another doggy bag).
We were way too stuffed for dessert, but Kelsey brought us an Oreo cookies and cream cheesecake on the house because we had to wait so long for our food. Nice touch!
Prices are what you'd expect -- maybe a little on the high side. About $250.00 for the 3 of us after I tipped out, so be prepared. I rated this restaurant 4 stars on YELP.
Travel stop. Food was good It’s a large formal dining room so not cozy but there is a bar in the hotel for another dining option
Service was good and friendly considering how busy they were on Christmas night
Food was great and server attentive but food delivery was disjointed.
I took my wife there for her birthday dinner. Our server Brian was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. I had the duck which was delicious and my wife had the lobster mac and cheese which she really enjoyed too. We shared three sides between us, the brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes were very enjoyable, but we didn’t care as much for the cauliflower (just our preference). Oh I forgot the salads, the beet and goat cheese was excellent and my wife enjoyed the wedge salad with the heirloom tomatoes. We shared the lemon meringue pie dessert which was also delicious even though the construction does not resemble a traditional pie.
All around we were very pleased with our experience at the Belvedere.
Had excellent entrees as well as starters and really like the atmosphere. The service was top notch. The pork belly starter was fantastic!! I would return just for that.
The only fine dining restaurant in town. Nicely prepared dishes and high quality ingredients.
Stopped by on the way for some rest and ended up with a great meal. The food is excellent and service is outstanding. Though the area seems a bit seedy , having a bouncer at the entrance to the hotel makes you feel safer. Highly recommend though make sure to pay the $10.00 valet fee since the safety in parking your car on the street seems to be questionable
I have been to this restaurant for dinner and it was excellent. Unfortunately, Sunday brunch was very disappointing. Food items were not being restocked without our asking and the quality of the hot items was very much lacking. The wait staff was kind and attentive, but without good quality food, the experience was disappointing. I will not go back for Sunday brunch. Hopefully, the dinner experience has not suffered the same problems.
First time here celebrating mine and my wife's recent wedding. The food was fabulous, super quiet atmosphere, all around great experience.
I was in town for business and found the Belvedere restaurant via my OpenTable App. The menu looked very good and that's what drew me to this location. The restaurant is located inside the Padre Hotel and there's nothing fancy about the place. It appears the hotel simply converted one of their large rooms into a table and chair restaurant, there's nothing fancy about this place and definitely no ambiance to speak of! But the food is very good and so is the wine, that's about it!
drinks good, food generally good although rib-eye showed up cold and was very chewy (would not recommend), but service was painfully slow. For the money, go elsewhere
The Belvedere is very hit or miss on whether it’s good or not. On this occasion our server was very nice and attentive but the kitchen was slow. It took a long time for us to get our appetizers as well as our meal (we were there for 2 hours for a party of 3) and the restaurant wasn’t even full. The food was okay, but there was too much pepper on everything. The best dish we had was the elk, the worst was the lobster mac and cheese...and I love Mac and cheese. I can’t say that anything was terrible but for the price you pay my expectations are higher.
This place was amazing. Hotel is gorgeous. Service was outstanding.
Belvedere Room continues to provide excellent food, service, and creative beverages.
Outstanding dinner Saturday night with friends. Service was the best we've had in Bakersfield and on par with fine dining in a major city. Food was prepared perfectly. We were not rushed through our meal, they did a great job uncorking our wine and decanting it, and it made for a very special evening. We had a wonderful evening.
We had a tasty meal and our server Kristen was great. First time in Bakersfield and we were pleasantly surprised by the top notch quality and service of this restaurant.
Excellent service, great wine list, delicious beet salad, ribeye steaks and halibut. Highly recommended.
Overall I enjoyed the Belvedere. I've eaten there twice now. My latest experience wasn't as memorable as the first. They had to take back my sirloin back because it wasn't cooked to how I had asked. Other than that it was good.
I came as a single guest. So one sever snubbed me to take a table of two. The joke was on her as they split an entree and water. I had a couple good bourbon and a nice bottle of wine and o go with h my kobe ribeye.
Best Elk I ever had in my life at an incredibly fair price! Service was impeccable as usual. Bakersfield's best restaurant by far. Wine Wednesday is a great deal too.
