We went to Bellemore to celebrate my birthday. I was presented with a birthday card signed by all the staff — what a wonderful way to start our dinner experience! We spent a leisurely several hours enjoying a variety of courses; there was NO rush to “turn our table.” Courses were easily “shareable,” and it was a nice touch that the kitchen split our courses for us. Kudos especially to our server, Kelly, who is exceptionally knowledgeable about wine, and found a great selection to go with our dinner orders of three fish dishes and one red meat entree. Kelly was attentive without being intrusive, and responsive to all of our questions about the composition of the courses. The noise level is high, always an issue for those of us who appreciate an opportunity to converse over dinner, but that seems to be more the “norm” these days, and perhaps to be expected in a dining room with very high ceilings. All in all, a wonderful dining experience, and we’re glad the restaurant is in our neighborhood. We’ll certainly dine there again!
A WOW on all levels!!! Outstanding, creative, mouth-watering dishes and fabulous service. You can actually have a conversation without losing your voice.
The fried chicken sandwich is amazing and the service is great.
Everything was wonderful from the hospitality to the food and the service – amazing!! The ambiance is gorgeous, and every dish was great! Wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion! :)
The service was great, but I’m very disappointed with the food. Expensive small plates.
Every dish is creative and beautifully plated. The flavors are superb and the variety makes it hard to choose a plate! The staff is very professional, pleasant and friendly and the music level is just right to provide a nice vibe without interfering with conversation. The decor is gorgeous and the ambiance comfortably sophisticated. Love this restaurant!
Everything I had was delicious and the service was excellent
I am a fairly tough restaurant evaluator, having over 45 years of dining experience at the best restaurants in Chicago and elsewhere. I gave Bellemore a 3 star. Some of the dishes where very good others not so great. The prices were quite high.. Food plating and ambience were 4 star. Small things like the Mafaldine (shrimp) pasta was a little too al dente, almost tough to eat. They were out of the the Icelandic cod, which two of our guests wanted. Vegetable soup at $14 was just ok but definitely over priced. The green circle Chicken was outstanding. Try it. Drinks were good but on the expensive side(Manhattan $17 with Markers Mark). We got seated right on time, but the wait staff were a little too quick to want to clear the table before we were done with our entrees. The cost was about $100 per person, food(appetizer & entree) 2 drinks, tax and tip.
Our second visit to Bellemore and it was as wonderful as the first. The tasting menu was so good. Out waiter was fantastic.
I really wanted to like Bellemore because I've heard such good things, but maybe I was there on the day they changed menus or kitchen staff. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable, the staff are knowledgeable and provide very good service. Every plate looks Instagram-worthy. But, the food is just not good. My friends and I ordered individual main courses and shared an appetizer and dessert. Flavors and textures didn't mesh on anything. My guess is that the chef/menu consultants wanted to create a new and exciting dining experience, but they don't have a basic knowledge of how tastes and textures need to work together within a dish. If you want to go to the Bellemore, go there for a drink and then leave for anyplace else in Chicago to have a good meal.
Service was very attentive -- perhaps too much so. Refilled water glasses constantly (too often) and tried to clear too quickly/often. Pet peeve of mine. Restaurants need to learn to wait until everyone is finished.
This was our second visit to Bellemore and the tasting menu was even better than a year ago. A range of interesting flavors and the suggested wine pairings were surprising but worked well. The sommelier is a walking wine encyclopedia and is great at sharing his knowledge.
This was my fourth time to Bellemore, and it was once again great. Bellemore has rather quickly become my second favorite fine dining restaurant (after Shanghai Terrace) in Chicago.
Ambience felt like a hotel lobby.
Waiter felt like he memorized a canned speech for menu recommendations.
Wait staff kept trying to take our food before we done. They had nothing else to do since it was almost empty.
Food was not good - too many ingredients, very heavy on salt.
Waiter waited too long in between checking on us.
Superb dining experience.
Delicious food, beautifully presented and knowledgeable, attentive server.
Beautiful space! Great attentive service and friendly staff. Food was delicious and beautifully executed. Deserts were the only weakness.
Food was delicious but very very small portions ... absurdly small so therefore can’t refer anyone here until they correct that miss.
FANTASTIC!! Tasty, flavorful. Gastronomic delight
Absolutely awesome place. Professional, unique - and well presented food. It’s one of the best places. Your sure to remember it.
Came in for drinks and a few small bites before dinner reservations elsewhere. It was phenomenal! We wanted to stay for more, we will absolutely be back soon!! Thanks for the special touches for our birthday celebration too!
Met a friend for dinner; we enjoyed our meal, but, probably wouldn't go back for the price point. The menu is very small; the drinks are a small pour. We ordered the Hawaiian rolls (tasted exactly like King's - not sure that these were homemade, but, they did have a special butter with them.) We each ordered the Fall Salad with pears - very good - different flavor, but we enjoyed. For entrees, my friend ordered the Porcini Radiatore and I ordered the Mafaldine (Baja shrimp) - again, we both enjoyed our selections - but, the portions are small. It is recommended to order 3 of their menu items, but, expect that to come in at around $50 each + beverage tab. The atmosphere is nice, but, they sat us at the corner-most two top that they had - therefore, poor ambiance from our perspective.
Overpriced. Trying too hard with the food. Pleasant service and lovely room.
Perfect for a any special occasion! Would definitely go back!
Tasting menu w wine pairings was phenomenal
Great, knowledgeable service in great space (faux owls odd touch)
Great food. Great service. Will be back.
The "first" and "second" plate options (sweet potato tots; porcini with burgundy snails, and the malfadine/baja shrimp) are excellent in every way: creative, very flavorful, and fine pricing; the "third" plate options are meat-heavy, as well as small portions and highly priced. Desserts fantastic--the chocolate mousse cake is wonderful! Wine list is limited. Service is very attentive and lovely.
Excellent Food and Top Notch Service. Great for special occasions.
We went for my husband’s birthday and wanted to check out the chef’s new restaurant, having been major fans of Boho House. While totally different, Bellemore was a wonderful experience all around. The service was top-notch and they made my husvand’s birthday super memorable and special. We will be back! Thanks :)
Outstanding, My new favorite restaurant in Chicago
The tasting menu was excellent. The food was delicious and portions were just the right size. My only criticism — which applies to many restaurants that serve interesting combinations of ingredients— is that the server should speak slowly and distinctly when describing the ingredients as each dish is served, instead of scurrying away after quickly speaking.
The food was excellent, especially the pasta dish. The ambiance was upscale but relaxed and the wait staff attentive but not intrusive.
Great ambiance and layout. Private feeling in open space. Innovative and creative menu. Every dish was a winner. Caviar cake is a must. Quiet room perfect for conversation. Pleasant wine list.
Excellent food, very nice place, excellent service.
Went here for a birthday dinner with another couple. Meal was excellent, service was perfect and the noise was not at all too loud to comfortably carry on a conversation. Music was fantastic from start to finish. Great experience all around!
Great food, music was slightly loud.
Excellent food and service. The interior is also breathtaking.
The food and service were amazing! I called a week before the reservation and requested a vegetarian tasting menu (make sure you call ahead if you want the vegetarian menu so they can be prepared). They did not disappoint! Every bite was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I loved the grilled vegetable soup as well as the Porcini Radiatore while my date said the Icelandic Cod was his favorite. I can't wait to go back!
I had a reservation at Bellemore with a group of friends to celebrate a good friend of mine getting a new job. Service was phenomenal. Ambiance was breathtaking. The atmosphere was dim, lively, and it felt perfect for a fall night. Here's the downfall:
The drink selection was creative to a certain extent, however, a long ice cube in a basic scotch and soda doesn't warrant it to be priced at where it is. Also, revamp the menu. It seems as if you're trying too hard to be "different" when it comes to small plate dining. Presentation has to be revisited. The Shaved Foie Gras looked like someone smashed black beans and grated white cheddar cheese over it. It wasn't appealing to the eye. The lamb sausage was overpowered with salt and terrorized my palate for the rest of the night. The "Hawaiian Pull Apart Rolls" were basic dinner rolls you get at your local Costco that were just covered in butter or at least that's what they tasted like. Not impressed. Wild Striped Bass was the only winner, we should've ordered 5 of those.
I'd come back for Drinks and for a menu change.
The food is fine, but generally speaking is WAY too expensive for what you get. With a couple of drinks, it’s difficult for a party of two to exit with a bill under $200. In my humble opinion, $200 is WAY too much for this place.
