Modern Vineyard Cuisine inspired by our Indigenous roots. We proudly sit on the traditional land of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation. Our inspiration for the name of our new signature restaurant comes from a chaptik story passed down through the generations of our First Nations people of the Okanagan.
The Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation approach to food is based on the creation stories of their culture and we’ve taken their stories as the inspiration for the name of our restaurant: “The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry,” based on the story of the Four Food Chiefs.
The Four Food Chiefs are central: Skimxist Black Bear (chief of animals, representing self-sacrifice, leadership, giving), Ntytikxw Chinook Salmon (water creatures, perseverance, hard work), Speetlum Bitterroot (plants below the round, relationships to the land) and Seeya Saskatoon Berry (plants above ground, growth, strength, community) are legendary and the elements of indigenous cuisine.

Great evening ! The food quality was great, the service excellent and the portions generous except for the dessert. We had the Ling Cod and ribs which were both done excellent and with a nice presentation …. We had the Mushroom dessert which was nice to look at, but short on flavours and volume. We would not order that again, but will visit the restaurant again for sure !

Delightful. Food was delicious, portions generous without being gigantic, and lots of options for all. If I had any tiny concern, it would be that the draft beer was slightly too warm for my taste. Other than that it was wonderful

Attractive property, can be loud, a/c very cold...most of the dinner very good except bison steak too tough to chew and digest. Management kind enough to comp entre with apologies Would try again, great service

Uniquely located in the heart of wine country, The Bear, the Fish, the Root and the Berry offers a refined menu inspired by Indigenous traditions and local ingredients. On a recent visit, the food delivered on expectations, though the service lagged slightly due to a busy dining room. We started with the Three Sister Salad, a fresh and well-balanced mix of greens, corn, beans, and roasted squash brought together by a maple mint dressing. The Crazy Water Clams were delicate and flavourful, with a broth of white wine, fennel, and tomato—perfectly paired with soft, house-baked bread. The star of the evening was the Slow Braised Cache Creek BBQ Ribs—tender, flavourful, and beautifully plated with duck fat potatoes, creamed kale, and sage-roasted carrots. Each side complemented the main dish without overpowering it. Dessert was a standout: a caramel and white chocolate mousse layered with pear compote, almond sponge, and chocolate crumble—both artful and a nice finish. While the service was average, the food quality and creativity were strong, especially the ribs and dessert.

My wife and I went for her birthday dinner and ate on the deck. The duck confit was a fascinating dish with white beans, elk chorizo, Saskatoon berries and beets. The ambiance and view were perfect for the occasion.

Second time visiting The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry. Our server, Victoria, was lovely. Very warm & friendly and helped us select our wine. The food is amazing. Can recommend the Lingcod, Salmon, Ribs, and Carpaccio. The patio with that view was pure heaven with the sun shining down and sparkling off the lake. We will definitely be back to dine here on our next visit! Thank you for such an enjoyable evening.
