Modern Vineyard Cuisine inspired by our Indigenous roots. We proudly sit on the traditional land of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation. Our inspiration for the name of our new signature restaurant comes from a chaptik story passed down through the generations of our First Nations people of the Okanagan.
The Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation approach to food is based on the creation stories of their culture and we’ve taken their stories as the inspiration for the name of our restaurant: “The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry,” based on the story of the Four Food Chiefs.
The Four Food Chiefs are central: Skimxist Black Bear (chief of animals, representing self-sacrifice, leadership, giving), Ntytikxw Chinook Salmon (water creatures, perseverance, hard work), Speetlum Bitterroot (plants below the round, relationships to the land) and Seeya Saskatoon Berry (plants above ground, growth, strength, community) are legendary and the elements of indigenous cuisine.

Brunch was fantastic! Welcoming staff, delicious food, perfectly made and presented. I can’t wait to go back and try other menu items. Price was on medium high side for brunch, but portions are huge.

Overall, we were pleased with our experience at this restaurant. We ate there two different nights and found the food much better on the second night. The salmon platter on the first night was small and overpriced with large crackers that were hard and difficult to eat. Presentation was very nice, however. On the second night, the quail dish was excellent and the ribs were superb. Presentation was again a highlight, plus the attention to local and traditional fare made both dishes unique. I would definitely eat here again.

We were disappointed in the room, seemed almost like a cafeteria, the food was not nearly as good as we expected it to be. We were expecting all kinds of local spices and flavours. And no I would not reccomend friends eat there.

Very typical hotel dining. The salad and bannock were good; the mains had too much going on and were not well executed. I was disappointed by the lack of main course vegetarian options (none).

Good Day I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your meal. I was particularly surprised to hear about you comments on the vegetarian dishes as there is an entire vegetarian section of the menu (The Root section is all vegetarian appetizers, share platters and main courses in the center of the menu). If we had known of your dietary concerns, I'm sure our service team would have happily assisted you by pointing out the vegetarian section on your menu. I hope we cane welcome you back again.

I’ve eaten here twice - once for dinner and once for lunch. Both meals were outstanding. The food is fresh, and made with unique and premium ingredients. Excellent wait staff too. A great dining experience.

My friend and I had an amazing dinner. Right from the welcoming host-Fabio-to our knowledgeable server, the experience was wonderful. The space is warm and has beautiful views of the vines and the lake. The food was delicious-bannock, rabbit and bison! So many amazing flavours! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Beautiful restaurant. We ate there three times during our stay. Amazing flavour in all the food and all three waiters were above average.

Breakfast and the desserts were amazing. Supper was good. We were the only diners at the time so to be encouraged to make reservations seemed quite odd. Bright and lovely for breakfast. Too bright and not festive for holiday time supper.

Warm welcome, excellent food perfectly prepared and wonderfully presented. Safe basted elk loin and bison ribeye were cooked to perfection. Thanks to our server, Kash, and the entire team front of house and kitchen for giving us a special Saturday night at Spirit Ridge!

The food was very nicely presented and very tasty; we had ordered the Three Sisters Salad, Fry Bread and the Bison Prime Rib to share. Very nice flavors. We found, however that at least one third of our Bison was just grizzle.

Our waiter was very attentive to our needs; although it was hard to understand his as he spoke so fast. We both strained to comprehend the spiel at the beginning where he was explaining the four elements.....he just spoke too fast.

I did find the prices very high. This was a Birthday dinner for my husband and we did appreciate the complimentary dessert, but this is not a restaurant that we could afford very often.

Very friendly staff and very attentive. A fussy toddler made it a bit disturbing. It was nice they brought fresh fruit and danishes to start. Omelette and potatoes were average. Prefer my potatoes to be pan fried rather then deep fried. My breakfast at Smitty’s last week was tastier.

Salad was very fresh, crisp, delicious and filling. Salmon for two is over-priced and only "so-so". The candied maple salmon was dry and tough. The"beet-cured" salmon was very "fishy" tasting.

Ron our server was prompt, friendly and helpful during our dinner. He was very patient as we visited, reviewed the many wonderful selections on the menu. They all look like you should try them all. We agreed a return visit it would be to try what we did not order but wanted .

This was an overall wonderful dining experience. Natalie our waitress was from the beginning friendly helpful and attentive . The menu choices were interesting and varied both in price and good offering . The presentation of the meal with the detailed explanation of how it was prepared was an added feature to the meal. No one at our table had any complaints every thing was flavourful and plentiful . The desserts were works of art it was almost wrong to eat them but they were as delicious as they were beautiful.
It was a fantastic time. We will be back for sure

Chose this restaurant based on reviews and felt that it was very good overall. The menu is unique to the area and we enjoyed the flavours/presentation. The server was very friendly as was the manager who stopped by to chat and make dessert recommendations. We enjoyed this restaurant enough that we stopped by for lunch again the next day and had another enjoyable experience.
