This is my 4th visit in the last couple of months, so I guess it’s obvious that I like it there!
Highly recommend the Yorkshire Burger, and absolutely love the crispy chips.
Amazing meal and cocktails, staff were so attentive and the food was divine! Had the perfect night out, thank you so much!
Delicious food, good awareness of gluten free needs of a coeliac
Really good lunchtime with friends. Food and service were excellent.
A good outdoor location: covered and heated. Also, good food and friendly helpful service.
We called in as three visitors for an evening meal and were delighted with our choice of restaurant
Food, staff and ambience all first class..everything was freshly cooked to perfection …the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly … we would certainly go again on a future trip to Knaresborough and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Bear
First time since it changed hands and very disappointing. Has cafe feel, cheap tables and seating with booming music. Server very short tempered BUT food was very good and good value
Limited menu but what we had was very good. Will definitely go back again
Lovely place garden area is fantastic, food was amazing. Definitely going again.
Beautiful setting, delicious food & wonderful service!
Great to be back out in a safe environment
Really love this place - we went with family and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food is always excellent too !
We love this place. Always friendly service, great food and environment. Plus they always make the dog feel very welcome!
Interesting food served well. Very attentive waiters
Bit too laud for a nice dinner. Poor service.
Great food and Service!
What a great little spot - will definitely be back!
Best burger I have ever tasted. Great location and beer garden. Definitely recommend.
Good food, setting and service! Slightly overpriced beer though!
The food was nice but the service was terrible. We were sat down inside round a corner and no one came to take our order for a long time not even for drinks. We ended up having to ask someone
They eventually came and took our food and drinks order. The food came but then we realised our drinks hadn’t arrived, we waited but they never came so again we went and asked someone and they said ‘we didn’t see the drinks order come through because you didn’t order proper drinks’ ( we weren’t drinking alcohol)
They brought our drinks over and we finished our meal, waited about another 30 mins after asking for the bill and never received it so tried to pay at the bar but was told they would come over, they eventually did and we paid
The food was nice so it was a shame about the service
Overall a great place. Lovely food and good selection of drinks but what I was most impressed with was the service. Extremely friendly and professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
Great food. Great staff. Really good value. Had a great time.
Lovely attentive staff. Very friendly relaxed atmosphere in the beer garden. Food is amazing and the ale fantastic. Keep it going!!
Very nice place. And very hard working staff. Can’t wait to get there again under NORMAL circumstances.
Just so easy to book and staff were attentive. Lots of servers too. Food lovely (we had pigs & chips!) plus some lovely draft cider and cocktails. Fab experience with great friends thank you
Overall happy with the experience! The only two things for me to point out would be the lamb was burnt/dry and staff were arguing which was slightly unprofessional.
Unfortunately it was very cold when we went and only a few tables had heaters but it was still a very nice atmosphere and the food was outstanding. Also recommend the cocktails!
Sitting outside on a cold evening we were certainly warm enough, comfortable and felt covid safe. The food was excellent, all four of us really enjoyed our meals and the service couldn’t be faulted. Very friendly and helpful.
Really great food simple but well-prepared street food. With great flavours, complimented by a fantastic wine list and a good selection of beers.
Nice alfresco set up. The food was great and good selection of drinks.
Service let it down despite the amount of staff on duty.
Would definitely return
Superb atmosphere, food, service and outside area. Felt very safe. Thanks, will be back again soon!
Great atmosphere! Friendly staff and nice drinks. Burger was great.
Went for Sunday lunch but it was actually just a blackboard menu. The choices were very good and the food just fabulous although the starters arrived with the mains and one steak was over cooked. This was well handled and did not spoil our afternoon. Staff were lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Great pub, fab to have somewhere cool to go with friends in Knaresborough. The weekend special drink 'Beer Colada' was delicious and so creative. The renovation of the patio is fantastic - loads of tables, great vibes, great views across the valley.
Food-wise, loved the tempura broccoli. The ox cheek burger could have done with some sauce - the meat was lovely and tender, but overall it was too dry a mouthful. £12 was also a bit expensive for not a huge amount of food. Wish I'd gone with the butternut squash veggie burger my friend had.
Overall a great pub that I hope to go back to whenever I can manage to get a booking!
Fab food, great service, and lovely atmosphere. Would recommend.
Our first outing to a restaurant/pub since lockdown began lifting. So was very excited.
We found the staff 50/50 ...the female server was amazing- friendly, considerate, informative and apologetic for our wait.... the male server, barely spoke, mumbled when he did and wasn’t great.
The drinks were lovely, pricey but nice for a treat. We did have to wait longer than we would have liked for the drinks but it was a busy Saturday night so we didn’t think too much about it.
The food was nice, well cooked and different flavours and tastes.
We were a little disappointed at being seated next to a fairly rowdy couple of tables of ‘younger occupants’ who were a little disruptive- but not the Bears fault.
The music was ACE, the ambience was nice.... I anticipated they’re might be heaters but where we were sat there wasn’t. Again not the Bears fault- I should have checked.
We would both love to come back again for the food, maybe during the day when it’s not as busy or loud x
We love this place and have visited several times. Not a chain. Cook over coals. Great ambience, staff, food and super wine list where lots available by the glass. We are going to book again for May 16 with friends. Highly recommend.
Lovely setting, friendly and efficient staff, food delicious, really enjoyed our afternoon
The spacing between the tables were not to covid guidelines. People squeezing between seats bashing your back as they passed. People when dining finished were directed to finish drinking by edge standing up. Msde it quite crowded
Food good although at 645pm had run out of things so not perfect for my gluten free daughter.
Didn’t like the fact that you were eating and the table next to you were smoking, otherwise it would have got full marks
