Brunch menu good, but not extensive. Food quite good. One of the brunch choices was unavailable. Quiet, good for conversation. Wait staff very attentive and helpful.
Brunch was excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Only weird thing was the number of bathrooms and difficulty of access to them. I get that it’s a hotel restaurant and they don’t want people going into bathroom that aren’t patrons of the hotel or restaurant. But, needing to track down a staff member for a pass card is annoying. They are busy and that’s a total waste of their time. Also, one bathroom for women and one for men is totally inadequate for a restaurant with an occupancy well over 100 in addition to the hotel lobby.
Went for lunch, my colleague and I each ordered a salad. I got the gem lettuce salad ($16) and my colleague ordered a spinach salad, which I think was around the same price. My gem lettuce salad came with "baby roots, bacon lardon, point reyes blue cheese." Sounded like a lightish lunch but still lunch. What was served was a mix of gem and other lettuces, 2 baby carrots that were smaller than a pen cap (and had 4 inches of raw, limp carrot top attached), 4 slices of thinly-shaved beet, and 3 lardons, each maybe the size of a dime. My colleague's spinach salad was similarly spare, where 95% of the plate was spinach and the noted additional items were few and far between. As soon as we left, we both needed to have a real lunch at our respective next stops. Design and (over)price your salad however you want but at least give diners a clue that unless you order the $12 topping of chicken, shrimp or salmon, your $16 salad will in no way be sufficient for a meal. Also, the food cost on this stuff -- even lovely, heirloom quality local organic veggies -- is low enough that it seems silly to put so little of it on the salad. I like the design of the restaurant and it was comfy and easy to chat but definitely not worth the $50 we paid for our lunch (w/bottled water), nor the $80 it would have cost if we had ordered enough food for an actual meal.
Hidden gem! Had our Galentine's Day dinner here and we all had a great time! Beautiful decor, yummy food, and excellent service!
The servers took great care of my colleague who was celebrating her birthday.
The ceilings and walls could have more acoustic treatment as it was a bit uncomfortably loud for 2 people at lunch.
All in all, lovely though. Thank you.
The food is great but the reason I keep coming back is due to the staff, specially Michael (Host) and Jay (Server) ... they just go beyond to make sure my guests are well taken care of.
I highly recommend Maestro Dobel Diamante.
Great place to eat, relax and enjoy both personal and business experiences.
The service we received was earnest, but lacked the polish expected of an establishment at Lowe’s Hotel and the given price point of the menu.
Food was delivered in a stuttered manner, basic elements were excluded on accident, and orders required multiple attempts by the server to get it right. A single drink order required three attempts by the server.
Two of us had the grilled octopus which can be very tender and succulent. Neither dish was tender, both came out chewy and tough. Simple things like bread took more than 10 minutes to deliver from the kitchen.
Every dish included frisée, which made it seem as though the kitchen had too much of the stuff and wanted to dump it.
The ambiance was nice, decor was pleasant, and staff had a great attitude, if not for a bit of a lack of polish.
Great meal and ambiance. The servers were not very attentive and it took forever to get our check - always annoying at the end of a meal, especially during the business day.
Radical location. Great for a special bday lunch, or to mix things up for your boss who loves Hakkasan.
A-MA-ZING! Everything was perfect: every dish was beautiful and delicious, great service, thank you!
Welcome lunch for two admin assistants.
The food was not very good. We had breakfast.
The scrambled eggs were soggy and the pastries were just ok for the price. The coffee was not good.
The best thing was the French Toast that my daughter got, that was very good. But being so expensive, I expected more.
Everything we tried was quite delicious. Some standouts were the gemelli pasta, chicken and burger.
Pleasant experience from the time we were escorted to the dining room from the check-in counter until the time we left. The brunch was very good.
Always great dining here! Food and service is spectacular.
Always a great experience and too-notch service.
Food was great but would have liked a few more lighter fare options. Lovely ambiance. Great service
The food and service were both fabulous. It is quite pricey but the service totally is worth it. They even gave us extra biscotti to take with us at the end.
I am very conflicted about the Bear & Monarch. This used to be where the hotel had the Brasserie S&P restaurant. The remodel was awesome. Love the decor, and the new seating is very comfortable. The problem is the bar. Between 5:30 and about 7:30, it's very busy, loud, boisterous groups, and it really makes it hard to enjoy the dining when you can't even hear your dinner guests speaking. That said, they have a small but excellent menu, which is extremely well-prepared, changes with the seasons (think fresh), and is well-plated. Just go after 7:30 p.m. if you want a nice dinner. Otherwise, be prepared for a very loud bar scene throughout the premises.
Our 2nd TG dinner there, our 4th or so dinner there...they do it right. As most know, the building used to be The Mandarin Oriental, and the staff still the same, so you get what they are...very good. Food more playful now, presented more home style. Mandarin Oriental way more formal & pretty...but the same food.
Gourmet, relaxed setting, fair-priced, hotel location...
We like this restaurant a lot, but we had a bad experience with our server tonight. He conned us into paying $10 for water, he completely forgot one of the drinks we ordered, never came by to check on us, and brought us our bill to hurry us out before we were even done even though the restaurant was more than half empty, so no one needed our table. He seemed grumpy that we weren’t there for a full meal, just drinks and dessert, but we never even had a chance to order anything besides our drinks before he brought us our bill.
Wonderful, as usual
A lot of menu items were unavailable.
B&M has hands-down the BEST business breakfast in San Francisco!
This place is always on point for their service and food.
The Bear it’s like every dish except the corn soup had one too many forward flavors. The soup benefited from restraint. The jaded may find this establishment delightful. The less-jaded may find it exhausting.
Met a client for lunch here; quiet enough to have a conversation but not feel that the quiet was stifling. We both ordered the gem salad which was beautiful. I had wonderfully cooked roasted chicken and she had an amazing salmon with crispy skin and "al dente". Excellent service. Menu was a little limiting but we enjoyed what we ordered.
The food was excellent but the service was very slow.
Great food and the service was exemplary. Best beef tartar and excellent wine.
Thought the food and drinks were presented well
and tasted great.
Not worth it for a weekend. It was completely dead and the menu was incredibly limited. It's on the ground floor, and we were not allowed to access the views advertised.
Food was great and the presentation was beautiful. The service could use a bit of fine tuning and the wine list is INCREDIBLY over priced.
food is really good
Has become my regular destination for business lunches.
The food was amazing! The chicken liver mousse was absolutely delicious - Kudos to the Chef!
Terrific service, as always!
A great place for a quiet and delicious business lunch.
