The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon adheres to a similar message.

Our dinner was outstanding! We had a group of 6 and all of us enjoyed everything from the apps to the salads and entrees. We will definitely recommend and be back.

Dinner was delicious! The lamb was awesome. The beef stroganoff was so tasty. The mussels were fantastic but the cornbread on top was burnt! Pumpkin dessert was so good.

All in all, a good experience. We are not fans of live music while dining, though. Generally, we enjoy conversation better than live music, especially when we and others have to talk louder to be understood. Live music is only two nights a week, though. So if you like it, ask which nights will provide this.

The food was delicious. Server was gracious and helpful. Only drawback was that the band was too loud… don’t believe they needed their amplifier!

Bar service was really good but food was off. Maybe it was because the menu was not very descriptive but did not feel we were getting anything at all like we were expecting especially for the price point.

Outstanding experience and every dish and cocktail/mocktail we had was on point. It was my Birthday and my waitress genuinely cared and was so kind and welcoming. I’d come back just for the service alone. A really amazing experience!

Very expensive for what we received. Our bill was almost 200.00...and my daughter had a bowl of soup!!! We did have drinks...but I had salmon, with several tablespoons of what was suppossed to be asian slaw, and risotto. I loved the atmosphere, but felt like it was too pricey.

Fantastic find when passing through on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The live music was an unexpected treat, and the number of gluten free options was a real treat for my wife with an allergy.

What a lovely surprise! Not being from this area, we were expecting “bar food”. When we entered the restaurant, we could see that we’d been very mistaken and when perusing the menu, it became even more obvious. There was a lovely fire in the fireplace and we were seated where we could see it. We ordered the charcuterie board and the panzella salad. My husband had one of the last ribeye steaks in the house. The charcuterie board was fantastic and very ample for two and my husband’s steak was prepared perfectly. We enjoyed a truly exemplary meal with wonderful service as well.

We had a wonderful dinner. The salads are creative and delicious & the 1/2 smoked chicken was awesome. The cornbread is insane! They also have an impressive wine list even by the glass!

The food was excellent. The homemade pasta was wonderful. We had the Panzarella salad the corn bread for an appetizer it was, I mean everything was really good. My only issue was the dessert menu was limited, and our waitress who was lovely, described the desert as a moose like consistency, but it wasn’t it was more like a fudgy good nice consistency the powder cream taste great.

Beacon is a beautiful space with a friendly staff and a good menu. The quality of the food is excellent but in our experience the chef’s decisions were mystifying. The rack of lamb was beautifully prepared but the Chimichurri sauce added to it was insanely and surprisingly spicy hot. Instead of bringing out the flavor of the lamb it was an unnecessary distraction and frankly painful. The abundant number of sugared Brussels sprouts (about 50!) were a strange and overwhelming accompaniment to the lamb; there were enough on the plate to have satisfied six plates, not one. I recommend the chef reconsider this preparation. Good lamb doesn’t deserve this kind of mistreatment.

Best meal we've had in the Boone area in a long time ! The Salmon special was the star with spicy greens and a sweet potato mash * still drooling* Tyra our server was sweet , and always smiling . We will be back soon

I had a great experience at the Beacon Butcher Bar. Since I was a party of one I sat at the bar. Both bartenders were a joy and made me a fantastic Old Fashion. I ordered the the New Zealand rack of lamb and is was amazing. Highly recommend. Great place recommended by NC Traveler on Instagram. I’ll be back at the end of the month with my son. I’m a Hoosier from Indiana who had a wonderful evening at your place in Boone, NC.

The food was dry with too little sauce. The prices for inexpensive meats was very high and we think the quality of the food has declined since we were there last. The band was so loud we could not have a conversation at the table.

We had dinner to celebrate my App student’s 21st birthday and The Beacon provided everything we wanted. There is a great wine list, the menu has diverse options, and everything we ordered was wonderful. The beef stroganoff, baked mussels, carpaccio, and pizzas were great. The birthday boy had the rack of lamb and it was perfect celebratory meal. There was a fire in the fireplace, the decor is rustic and upscale, and the ambience was just right. This definitely is a place we will return.

One of the best dining experiences ever! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and decided to try The Beacon Butcher Bar…it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in to the restaurant we were greeted by the hostess, who acknowledged it was our anniversary, and offered us a few seating options based on the experience we were looking for. A private area or seating in the main dining area where a band would be playing. The restaurant has a really cool upscale homey vibe. Our server Summer was very friendly and welcoming. Their version of a smoked old fashioned is amazing…the best I have ever had! The baked mussels with cornbread was absolutely delicious! My wife ordered the lamb tenderloin and I ordered the beef tenderloin. Oh my goodness, we couldn’t have been happier! The lamb was so tender and the cucumber mint yogurt tasted like it was straight from Greece! The beef tenderloin with chimichurr was accompanied by roasted brussel sprouts and cornbread…oh so good! And for dessert an apple pie crumble with dollop of ice cream. The absolute best restaurant dining experience we have had in quite awhile! Thank you Beacon Butcher Bar for such an amazing experience! We have been there three times now and consistently great food. The spinach salad changed a bot from wnenwe were there 3 weeks ago. Not sure what happened there and it was not nearly as good as the firs time. Other than that everything was excellent.

The food was absolutely delicious, and we (5 people) loved the decor and ambiance. We had the lobster and spinach rotini (one dish as-is, one dish gluten-free), lamb rack, ribeye, and baked oyster stew and all the meals came out perfect. Only reason service was 4 stars and not 5 was because all but one meal came out in a timely manner. However, our server was fantastic and very personable.

The ambiance was incredible and the staff are top notch! Cocktails are creative and delicious. The food was hit and miss for us. The carpaccio and gnocchi were excellent. We found the cornbread to be too herby, the chicken to be too smoky and inconsistent in flavor, and the seafood pasta and stroganoff to be just okay. We had a lovely night out. Next time we would just do drinks and appetizers.

Quality meats and well prepared foods at reasonable prices for quality. Service was a bit slow for drinks, but the foods were ready at a good pace. some pairings were odd, like a thin chimichurri sauce with rack of lamb. Perhaps I'm just not sophisticated enough to a more traditional mint accompaniment. The staff and general manager (Mike) were very friendly and helpful. Like many, many restaurants the service is probably slower due to the need everywhere for more staffing. We will eat there again although I'll bring my own mint jelly.

Never have I had a salad though lovely to look at taste so unpleasant. The heat from over abundance of banana peppers tainted the flavor even though I removed them. My creamy ricotta/chicken pizza missed because creamy ricotta was baked until brown in the dough then the chopped chicken tomato ,veggies were added after the fact so not really a pizza? Sounded wonderful on menu but poorly prepared.
