The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon adheres to a similar message.

The band was average, food was wonderful, the decor is nice, nice bar and fireplace, the service was great and timely. Only negative for me are food prices and no bread served before dinner arrived.

The food was absolutely delicious, and we (5 people) loved the decor and ambiance. We had the lobster and spinach rotini (one dish as-is, one dish gluten-free), lamb rack, ribeye, and baked oyster stew and all the meals came out perfect. Only reason service was 4 stars and not 5 was because all but one meal came out in a timely manner. However, our server was fantastic and very personable.

The ambiance was incredible and the staff are top notch! Cocktails are creative and delicious. The food was hit and miss for us. The carpaccio and gnocchi were excellent. We found the cornbread to be too herby, the chicken to be too smoky and inconsistent in flavor, and the seafood pasta and stroganoff to be just okay. We had a lovely night out. Next time we would just do drinks and appetizers.

Quality meats and well prepared foods at reasonable prices for quality. Service was a bit slow for drinks, but the foods were ready at a good pace. some pairings were odd, like a thin chimichurri sauce with rack of lamb. Perhaps I'm just not sophisticated enough to a more traditional mint accompaniment. The staff and general manager (Mike) were very friendly and helpful. Like many, many restaurants the service is probably slower due to the need everywhere for more staffing. We will eat there again although I'll bring my own mint jelly.

Never have I had a salad though lovely to look at taste so unpleasant. The heat from over abundance of banana peppers tainted the flavor even though I removed them. My creamy ricotta/chicken pizza missed because creamy ricotta was baked until brown in the dough then the chopped chicken tomato ,veggies were added after the fact so not really a pizza? Sounded wonderful on menu but poorly prepared.

Go for the food and music on Tuesdays. Featuring Andy Page and two beautiful ladies singing like sisters. All types of swingable music! Great time last week. Yummy special cocktails too. Charcuterie board was great!

We were excited to eat here, but disappointed. The ribeyes were very expensive but nothing special. Same for the lobster pasta, that had very little lobster in it. I ordered the fish of the day, which was mahi, and it was excellent, but it was by far the best thing on our table, except for the cocktails, which were also delicious. The service was friendly but slow.

Grace our server was great. The food- pasta with lobster and the tenderloin were fabulous entrees! Really great. Atmosphere is very relaxed and nice. This is our second trip for dinner in past 2 weeks so you know we like it! All staff are pleasant and attentive.

We enjoyed a very nice experience for our 25th anniversary meal. Our server, Tyrah, was very charming, gracious, friendly and attentive. I started with a very delicious cocktail…You got the Beet and hubby enjoyed a dark beer. We shared the Farmer’s salad which was full of goodies like roasted carrots, pistachios, goat cheese and leafy lettuce topped with a yummy vinaigrette. We both ordered the day’s fish special which was mahi mahi….a good sized portion grilled to perfection topped with a fruit salsa and served with grilled nopales, spicy salsa verde and avocado crema….beautifully plated and absolutely delicious! We ended the meal with dessert…lemon curd with blueberries and fresh whipped cream….very refreshing and not too sweet. The ambience is lovely, the service is great, the cocktails are creative and the food is amazing. Overall….an exceptional experience that we both enjoyed!

Excellent evening out to celebrate a birthday . My friends Cocktails were so good they ordered twice & the Gatto Chardonnay was very different - a real treat. Vodka tonics delicious with plenty grey goose & lime. Service was perfect . Our erver was a prof at App state / friendly & fast ! Starters: Fingerlings - awesome Cornbread - deliciously garlicky The special was fried cod . It was delicious and and after our orders were submitted they were totally OUT of the Special. The beef tenderloin was the best he has EVER eaten and he ate every single green bean on the plate ! Loved it! My friend had The mushroom pizza & said it was DELICIOUS & I cant wait to go back and order one . Absolutely perfect evening. We are thankful to have found beacon @ butcher block !

This was our first visit with the Beacon Butcher Bar. I originally selected outdoor seating but decided once we got there we wanted to sit inside because it is so beautiful!! The hostess and staff arranged to accommodate even though they were completely booked!! There were four of us and we all agreed that the food was top notch! I had the roast duck and it was fabulous! The presentation of all of our dishes were bar none!! Our server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable!! Thank staff for making a memorable experience! V.Pegram Mt. Airy, NC

The Beacon was amazing . The food exceeded our expectations. I ordered the ribeye and it came out perfect. Our waitress knew the menu and was helpful when we were trying to decide on a couple appetizers . We will be back.

Great find in Boone, NC Did not know anything about this restaurant until trying to make reservations on Open Table . Saw them and they had good reviews so we gave them a try. Very pleasantly surprised and we will definitely be returning. The spinach salad was superb and my tenderloin was cooked to perfection.

Start to finish, an outstanding experience. Elegant ambience, wonderful service, superb menu choices. All 3 meals( lobster pasta, butcher block beef tenderloin, and halibut special) were exceptional. Craft beer choices were solid and priced right. Decent wine offerings by the glass and bottle. No room for dessert.

Bar service was poor. Ignored by the bartender. Once seated, waiter was attentive. Ribeye was overly salted. Lamb was outstanding. Decor is weird; paintings don’t jibe with the place, seem really out of place. Overpriced, not especially impressed. Seems like a place more suited for Asheville than Boone.

Everything was wonderful as usual except we were seated about 3 feet from a live music act. It was a bit difficult to have a conversation. If the music is to be a fixture, I hope it will be moved somewhere it is less intrusive to the dining experience.

Small menu but food was excellent. We had a really yummy salad , more than enough to share , homemade pasta and a nice steak with unbelievable cornbread . Would definitely recommend going. Waitress had been with them since they opened and she was great . Will go back
