The Beacon is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. From our kitchen to our staff, we strive for innovation and discovery in all facets of our company. We love the intentional, the specific, and the well-cared-for. We work closely with our Blue Ridge farmers, producers, and NC fisherman to present deliberate and thoughtful food and beverage menus.

Our Bar highlights inspiring cocktails and an impressive biodynamic wine program. A dedication to offering natural wines adhering to strict traditional methods, free of pesticides, and minimal intervention. Live music every Tuesday and Thursday during dinner service provides a subtle and delightful ambience. Our semi-private section of our dining room hosts "family style" dining of up to 30 guests. Feel free to contact us for availability.

Join us every first friday of the month for Jazz Jam from 9:30 PM - Midnight, including late night food and drinks.

All of the reviews were so good, we were excited to try this restaurant; however, the Beacon's summer menu is some of the worst food I've tasted in recent memory. Everything was fried, over-salted, flavorless, and poorly developed. The pizza was overdone (yet undercooked) and inedible, while the pasta tasted like it was prepared by someone who had only seen photos of Italian cuisine and had never actually tasted it. Both the squash and okra were fried with merciless disregard for nutrition and flavor without any delicious qualities to make them worth eating. This was my first time sending everything I ordered back, and we went to another restaurant. All that to say, the beautiful ambiance and excellent service couldn't save this abysmal culinary experience. I don't usually write reviews, but I made an exception for The Beacon.

We love coming to the Beacon, but felt this time the portions were smaller. The pastas were adequate but the scallops were paltry.

The Beacon is one of the top restaurants in the area and an absolute go-to. The food is absolutely stellar. While the price is on the higher end as it is more upscale dining, the value is there. You get more than enough food. My husband and I love to split an appetizer, a salad, an entree, or more often we get our own entree...it's just so hard to choose. You most certainly won't leave hungry. There's a difference between hospitality and service and the team excels in the area of hospitality. You will leave wanting to come back and try another of their amazing sounding menu items. Don't sleep on this gem in the High Country.

First time and we loved it! Will be back often. Food was outstanding, reasonably priced. Service was great, nice ambiance as well. They had live music and it was awesome.

Great menu selections. Service was terrific, friendly but professional. Very helpful and knowledgeable explaining menu items and preparation. Plate presentations were very nice. Food was well prepared and delicious. Many of the items were prepared with Calabrian chili’s or chili oil, which I thought might be a bit too spicy, but really added a great depth of flavor to the dishes. The only “drawback” for me, personally, was the restaurant was a bit noisy. Definately going back.
