We came to this restaurant because Fern was closed and we had an awful experience with inroom dining. The food was just awful. The arugula salad was salty and gritty so we sent that back, the pasta had no flavor and no salt. It reminded me of airplane food to be honest. The filet mignon was not a filet but two thin slices of beef off a tenderloin that were extremely overcooked. After our waiter said he was sorry and offered a 15% discount we were still hungry and wanted dessert. We ordered the bread pudding and it was more like a slice of banana bread. Also they put a pumpernickel crouton on top! I can't believe such a fine resort would have such a terrible restaurant. I'm shocked!

My rib-eye is now the third best steak I have ever dined on. I'm 55 and love steaks. Interesting and very cool unique way of service. While we did have a specific server dedicated to us, everyone of the wait staff acted as though that was their role. The primary one took our drink order and appetizers, another actually took the main course. I never saw the bottom of my glass until I said stop.

We arrived with low expectations because of poor reviews we had seen on line. It was even worse than we imagined. The food - cheeseburgers - were fine. The fries were tasty. But the service was slow and erratic. The low point was being told by the server that two different $40/$45 bottles of wine we asked for were sold out. When we complained to the manager he said they had plenty. Uninformed server or was she trying to up sell us? At a St Regis property I would not expect either. The resort is lovely but as another guest put it in our mutual golf cart ride back to the main hotel from dinner - you feel claustrophobic here because there are so few restaurants to choose from. You're captive so they can treat you however they please. Oh and did I mention the air conditioning dripping on my husband? I'd stick to the Vanderbilt in San Juan.

This used to be a great restaurant! After they changed the name, something went wrong: the menu changed significantly (the menu on 'open table' is not updated as mid March) - basically there is nothing in the menu to order aside from salads as appetizers (salads which you could have at any other restaurant) or no more than 6-7 dishes as main course (again, nothing you could have at any other restaurant). The quality of the food was not quite good: we ordered grouper and was something wrong with the fish as was tasting really salty and definitely 'spent a lot of time in the freezer' before was served. In top of that the service was very slow - a lot of personnel / waitresses as it was hard to know who is serving what, but nobody seems 'to be in charge' with one table at a time.
Please do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant as much as you can until they will bring it back to what used to be!

We started off by getting water very quickly, then about 5-10 minutes later we ordered 3 glasses of wine. After waiting 35 minutes our wine arrived at the table. Considering we ordered pretty quickly, it seems odd that we didn't have our food over and hour after arriving at the restaurant. After speaking to a manager, who was very polite, our food came quickly. The manager said he would remove one glass of wine from our check to makeup for the delays. After signing the check, which was our fault, we realized the glass of wine hasn't been removed. The waitress seemed very unconcerned with the horrible service. She was very nice, but this is hr worst service I have received from any restaurant in a very long time, much less for a restaurant which is part of the St. Regis.

Had a great tasty lunch with tuna and turkey sandwiches. Sandwiches and salads were very well done and reasonably priced compared to what we have paid at other places nearby for fair food. Great change of pace and beautiful property. Madeline's service was excellent and her recommendations were appreciated.

The beach club had great service and great food. Be ready to enjoy local Puerto Rico/Caribbean cuisine as the menu 100% focuses on this. I thought the Churrasco was one of the best I have ever had. The empanadas were very good as well, I would suggest pairing with Sriracha for an little extra flavor kick. The view of the ocean from the outdoor eating area is amazing. I would recommend you spray some bug spray if you are going to eat outside, not just here but anywhere at the St. Regis resort. The bugs are pretty active. Orlando was an amazing server and I highly suggest you ask for him. He is honest about what their best dishes are and was helpful to ensure we ordered the right amount of food - not too much and not too little. Give this place a try while are are at the St. Regis resort, it is great.

We were staying at the St. Regis and came over from our room to the Golf Clubhouse to have dinner at Molasses. We opted for dishes under the Classic Criollo section of the menu; I had the the Sauteed Shrimp and my husband had the Mofongo as he wanted to try something that was a Puerto Rican specialty. Both dishes were very flavorful. We shared the Compressed Salad and it was good, not a very large portion but enough to give us both a taste of the salad and not fill us up too much before our main dish. The complimentary rolls with guava butter were also tasty. I will say that at the server's recommendation we tried the bread pudding dessert and neither of us liked it much. The pudding was hard and not warm as the description said it would be so perhaps that is why it didn't taste that good. Overall, still a great meal and next time we would try something else for dessert. :- )

Service was superb. Food was good. In order for me to give 5 stars on food it has to a dish(es) that I would write home about. Scenery/ambiance was great. We split the ceviche for an app, it was really good. I had the mofongo with prawns, it was really good. My husband had the pan roasted chicken, he rated at mediocre. The bread pudding desert was ok and the key lime desert was too sweet. The coconut ice cream was amazing, I would definitely come back just for it.

We had a great dinner here! Ordered the herb shrimp, prawn mofongo and herb chicken. Everything was delicious! Music was a little too loud for my taste . The desserts were magnificent! My husband and daughter enjoyed the chocolate chip bread pudding while I had the de-constructed key lime pie with raspberry sorbet!

We didn't stay at st Regis but ate here the last night of our trip. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and luckily we all chose different dishes. If I could have stolen the guava butter recipe I would have. The whole snapper was perfection. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our waitress was amazing and made sure dinner was an experience and not just service. If you have a chance, definitely go check out this beautiful venue.

Beautiful location, great service and very good food. This is a place I'd love to see during daylight. Service was attentive, but not overbearing; recommendations for food and dinner drinks were on point. Food was very nicely done, if a bit under-seasoned. But you can add salt to your liking. The Molasses take on mofongo, as a typical Puerto Rican comfort dish, with ropa vieja was very nicely done.

Food was only just okay but I felt I was dining in a children's rec room with all the screaming kids. The tuna tartare was way overly salty. The whole fish was fried within an inch of its life and was virtually devoid of meat. The short ribs and cocktails were good though.

We live in Chicago and used to live in NYC, and expect good food. Every time we visit San Juan, we eat at Molasses numerous times The Mofongo is the best we have ever had. My husband has dietary restrictions and the Chef always accommodates. The staff is also top notch. We absolutely love this place.

Food was great, about 70% of it, my grouper came with a slightly burnt crust and overall the dish was monotone with the tone being sweet, tuna was pretty but a little under seasoned and pork belly a little dry.

That out of the way, Calamari, Shrimp entree and desserts were outstanding. Dessert was a standout, lots of attention to detail and not easy to execute. Service was great, with the exception that the service staff made more noise than the guests in the dining room, which were very few.

They had salsa lessons going on outside, the view is incredible, get there early before sundown. Saw a lot of negative reviews online about this place, but they really did a nice job overall.

There are only two options for dinner dining at the St.Regis resort and Molassas was an expensive disappointment. Nothing exceptional about the food.
It is always wonderful to eat outdoors but, our table was next to the fountain and it kept turning on and off. I'm sure they had their reasons for doing this but, it was quite distracting.

The environment was good as well as the service. The food was not bad but not outstanding. My swordfish needed more flavor but my mom's duck was perfectly done. My husband's meat was low in salt, and I am not a person requiring a lot of salt but just the right amount. I think is a good place to have a brunch or lunch. All the personell were very attentive.

The St. Regis bills this as "Creative Caribbean Cuisine". We ate there twice, the first on Superbowl night where there was a special of fish tacos which, although salty, were okay. My husband had something called crunchy grouper which he said was tasteless. On the second occasion I had a dish called mofongo and my husband had a steak he compared to shoe leather. This is not an inexpensive restaurant and the food should be much better. We discussed our experience with another couple and they also were not happy with the food so it isn't just us.
